Us boomers remember one race a year. Carlsbad. No VCRs so if you weren't home and missed it you had to wait until reruns came on 6 months later and was edited to be shorter. Then 900 INFMOTO came along and you could get results after the race was over. Now you get live racing all year for way less than the price of a seat at a race and you guys piss and moan. I can tune out the announcers unless it's JT but I do hear some of the goofy stuff that comes out of their mouths. I can take it without being butt hurt. You and few other people on this forum don’t have to watch the races live.
But a lot of us here and probably every fan outside of vital wants to watch the races live.

weege and malin are the 2 best callers in the game. just let them do their respective series and all in the world would be fine. i will be pissed  each week til supercross gets their shit together. i don't even care to watch it weekly i'm just waiting for us to get back to motocross and hopefully weege is back full time.

Stop watching.

You guys need your own containment board.

MXGP has better camera angles and it allows Malin (ONE announcer) to call the race action as he is seeing it.

That’s what SX needs to try. One announcer calling the race action and have RC and others for in between races.

I can’t imagine it being worse.

Just watched Alpine Skiing mens and womens Super G from Sqaw Valley on NBC today. Lets hope and pray that our SX coverage doesn't turn into what NBC has done to skiing. Three commentators who cant seem to shut their mouths shut. Off topic subjects and nothin but verbal diahharea. Just like in SX, they are trying to create something for the psuedo wanna be fans.

Most are missing the larger picture.  The production itself is god awful. You can have James and Weege in there, but when the cameras are on one thing, and James is trying to disect another thing, you have what we have.  A production that sucks.  The timing, the cameras, the communication it all is second hand.  Weege, and James as announcers SAVE that joke of a product.  They have all the cameras, live timing and etc.  They should be breaking down each segment, the riders, the bikes, lines, etc. instead we get fishing and 2nd grade analytics.  It is frustrating to see how poorly ran it all is and how people just accept it.

I've been saying this for years. It is a bad product. Period. You'll have weege and JT on the pulp show blowing each other on how "hard"...

I've been saying this for years. It is a bad product. Period.

You'll have weege and JT on the pulp show blowing each other on how "hard" the other persons job is and how hard Bondos job is etc. Well how the fuck does every other sport do it better including MXGP? Supercross specifically is god awful. Outdoors is slightly better...but thats bc the motos are 35 mins long so its more drawn out and less dramatic.

Cameras on the wrong people, pan away from a pass about to happen, pan away from a battle to show a guy in 11th to comment on a pre determined talking point they crafted on wednesday, pan away from battle to show leader who is 30 seconds ahead crossing finish line, dont show battle for final transfer spot that EVERY SINGLE PERSON IN THE STADIUM IS WATCHING but we get fucked at home and dont get to see, it goes on and on and on.

Maybe they sabotage the coverage on purpose to put asses in the seats? 🤔

Huh? First, the FIS Super G races were from Sun Valley, ID. How on earth did you get Squaw Valley? BTW, the proper name for Squaw is now 'Palisades'. Where have you been the past few years?

Today's  Announcers were first rate, the normal NBC/Peacock crew.  Real-time commentary on the racers (their backgrounds, season challenges, injuries, etc) was quick - they only had about a minute to focus on each racer's run - and on point throughout the broadcast. Side stories were interesting and helpful.  You did know that ex-World Champion Picabo Street (from Idaho) was one of the Announcers?

I watch a lot of skiing and do not know what the "verbal diahharea" (sic) is that you write about.  NBC did a good job today.

I agree.  Not once did they bring up fishing while a racer was on course.

The broadcast is so bad and NBC is so despicable i'm ready to just personally boycott the races over it. The series is already mostly over and all the entertaining riders are hurt anyway. I'll watch the crash reels on Tuesday or whatever

Boycott vital while you are at it.

Not so much the commentator's fault.  It would be the production crew that is setting up all that fluff.  Go back and watch a race from the 80's when they are calling the action, it is way better and more engaging in my opinion.  I cancelled my Peacock this morning.  Enuff.

I seriously muted the whole race (I watched the replay of because I was at a party earlier). It was awesome I fast forwarded to each race and put up with the 60 second ad and still watched the whole thing in just over an hour with no heartburn over listening to the booth Smile

MX and SX are so different from most sports that it really is nearly impossible to broadcast anywhere close to the same. The action is spread out over so much area and the REAL interesting action is pretty unpredictable, so it’s mostly shown after it occurs.

The best option is to eliminate the live broadcasts and go to next day, edited broadcasts where the announcers already know what is going to happen.

Or NBC could just hire professional announcers, like the sport had in the early 2000's.

They won't do it though, they think fans are rednecks and they hate you. NBC wants to give you a bad experience intentionally. They don't give a damn about supercross. They are more focused on sexualizing your kid through subliminal and making another Democrat weirdo.

They did hire a professional tho. Diffey is a super well known announcer. Idc for him personally but they did hire someone who announced the Olympics. And RC and James are both super credible racers so obviously their insight is valuable. Even tho sometimes it’s not that great. Still cool they choose to be around the sport.

The problem is NBC tries to caters to new fans and fans who don’t know that much.

There is definitely room for improvement and obviously most of the hate/backlash recently for rc and diffey is from the DB video.
Personally I think Weege should be in the booth every race. He’s the best at it. Also JB and AC both are amazing and one day may be in the booth so that’s a positive. But at the end of the day I love the sport and I’m going to watch it regardless who’s talking over the racing.

Different and Brayton?

No, he was trying to refer to that fact, but he totally stated it wrong. My quote is EXACTLY what RC said. And it was terribly wrong number wise, and if he had said "100% of his wins have came from those victories" it would have been factually redundant.

Good job fucktard.

That’s literally not what he said.

Diffey and RC are doing exactly what they are being directed to do by there bosses, I thought it was fine to show Mookies fishing pictures I was wondering how you cook them and what it taste like to be honest, JT is great so was DB, on the track Will gets a little long winded most of the time, Diffey is much better when he does Indy cars very good for that sport, RC is still one of our greatest MX bad dudes to ever throw a leg over and line up everyone needs to chill a bit and enjoy the racing that we get to enjoy every week for the whole SMX season life is good smile!!😎

I'm with ya. I think RC is a buffoon in the booth. But I like the TV package mostly. Of they'd just call te damn race and not let screech be rambling on some dumb story while passes and crashes are happening.

I'm not one to bash things, but that broadcast was terrible.  Idiotic commentary, showing points how they run 2 1/2 minutes into the 2nd moto, which is ridiculous, and the terrible timing and scoring.  It was almost unwatchable.

we don't need 42 people tryin to tell us whats goin on. weege can handle that just fine.... matter of fact, they don't need production  meetings to come up with stories. point the f'n camera at the track and let weege call the show.

This right here is gospel. Weege full time, JT on the floor, and Emig, Stew, whoever, rotating each week would be just fine

Halfway through the 450 race 2, Diffey is talking about Mookie racing for gas money for his boat.

They then proceed to show Instagram photo of mookie fishing, during the race. No other Motorsport would do this during the race.

Its so embarrassingly unprofessional. They say they cater to new Moto fans or the the casual fan but my friend who casually watching sx told me the commentary turns him off from watching more than 5 minutes at a time.

The commentary work is the most unprofessional of any motor racing.

Only one who deserves a job is JT.

and weege

weege deserves a job

RC has to be threatened by Stew. I’m sure the RC-LD club has to be on him for breaking down the actual race instead of their 30,000’ view of “the green Kawasaki”.

You know LD intentionally says “honder”. It’s a god damn Honda in every place on earth

The worst part of the broadcast isn't the awful announcing, it's the camera work. Staying on one guy in 4th or 5th for multiple laps while there's a tight battle for the lead or podium is unbelievably frustrating.

On top of this is when a rider is charging through the field, and they don't show it until he's actually up to the podium (or lead). And then, the announcers act all surprised. Like, yeah, if you look at timing, you'd see that Tomac has been passing multiple guys per lap and has taken 4 seconds out of the leaders while dealing with traffic. He didn't just magically spawn from 14th to 3rd. Y'all could've been covering this, or at least made a mention of it.

This is what gets me. They rarely discuss lap times or intervals times, or section times, or when a top 5 guy is at for some reason at the back.

If it’s not on the screen they just pretend like there is nothing else going on.
