Paraphrased from the rulebook:

• A restart shall be no less than 3 laps

• if red flag is shown before the race clock expires...restart procedure shall be used

• If red flag is shown after the race clock expires the race is over and will not do a restart

So youre an employee, a top performer in your group, and your boss comes up to you and says, " i hear you dont want to succeed." This despite your obvious performance and current success.

But he doesnt say this to your face,  but instead on a phone call,  while you are the one actually at work.

Bobby took a comment from max out of context, ignored the actual results from his performance, then tried to question his motivation.

Max wanted to send a message and he damn sure did it. On the track and off.

It's a volume business for Star Racing.  They have 43 riders at The Goat Farm and will sign any hot new kid they see.  If the guy works out, great.  If not, drop them.  You know what you are getting into with Bobby.  I guess he sells enough cars at his car dealerships to be able to fund a huge race team supported by Yamaha.

He said Bobby called him earlier and said that Max mentioned he didn't expect to win.

Max said if Bobby doesn't want to show up to races to not bother calling him anymore.

Edit: I rewatched the interview and Max said:

"Bobby the team boss called me earlier and said that I somehow said that I didn't expect to win. I don't know where he got that from. If he's not going to show up to the races don't bother calling me anymore because, at the end of the day, I expect to do what I'm doing. All I'm saying is that I expect these guys, I've got a great competition with RJ and Levi and all these guys out here that are solid, and that I'm putting in a good fight for this, so let's take it to Daytona and keep pushing."

Team Honda?

If they could have waited, then there’s no reason to even throw a red flag.

You throw the red flag because a rider is in danger. You should never base that decision on who is leading or how much time they need to ‘run off’.

After letting him lay there for 2 laps, they could have let the clock expire. Then the Medical crew gets him up and walks him off. Double dumbass moves.

From my couch, I think that they could have asked for a race stoppage sooner, but I wasn’t actually there trying to assess the rider. Once the medical crew determines that they need to get bikes off the track and ask for the red flag, the timing shouldn’t have any bearing on it being thrown.

The methods that they use when moving riders is a completely different topic and also has zero to do with timing and scoring.

I feel for Anstie, but I’d rather have a decision like this made on the side of safety before looking at the clock.

Imagine if the rider who was down was your son for a second. If medical personnel made the decision that they needed to have bikes off the track in order to get him immediate care but race control said “No” because of timing and scoring, you’d probably want to get violent with whoever put the timing over your son’s safety.

I posed the question earlier, is it time for someone close to Cam to step in before he has one he can't walk away from? This is every damn year.

Regardless, who is the boss here? I’ve had boss’ and been a boss.  If Max is so correct, he should quit pleasantly after being disrespected for such accomplishments that he deserves. Max just sends a horrible message to the young guys 1/2 his age that he is racing. Just an opinion like everyone has.

He looks incredible on that bike. What kind of ceiling in sx would we have seen from him if he never went back to the GP's?

Robbed, yes...but he did benefit from red flag in Tampa in the heat when Pierce Brown had a significant lead. So that’s why he said he would do the same as Levi on the podium

Anstie just got beat straight up. Levi didn't make the rules, he just took advantage and raced for the win.

Yeah, Levi was just racing; kind of a non-player in the whole thing. Antsie just had the wind knocked out of his sails when he saw the red flag. Tough to try and work it back up.

I understand what you are saying, but they should have thrown the red either earlier or let the race be over. After being down two laps, seven seconds didn’t matter. He should have been carried off on a backboard in my opinion. He could barely walk and they really didn’t know what injuries he may have had to his spine. Think back to another rider they put on the Mule and he ended up not walking again.

The rules were followed and Levi won but if there was ever a case of not getting beat straight up this was it.

Man it's very different when the leader takes himself out and Anstie was in 2nd already therefore by default inherited the lead position. Very different scenarios

Maybe you've never had employees but the last thing you want a high level employee to be is a yes-man

There was nothing scary about that crash. He took a handlebar to the face and got a little gash. What a fucking joke that was. Sometimes this racing organization is really embarrassing.

His dumb ass could’ve sat there for the remainder of the race and contemplated why his stupid ass can’t stop crashing. What a fucking joke.

Has anyone actually watched ama officials at a sx and watched what they do. Has to be the most useless individuals I have ever seen at a sporting event. It's time for a new organization to take over that actually has a sense of the racing that is taking place.

No, it means they must extend the race to meet the minimum, which they did. The restart was 3 1/2 laps.

The rules changed, and not for the better. As long as there's time left on the clock, the race restarts, and will comprise of at least 3 laps.

There's a reason the rules used to call the race over if more than 90% of the race is complete.  This is exactly it.

Kitchen won without question according the 2025 rule book, but in my opinion, the changes should be reverted.

You'll notice that Kitchen wasn't excited for the win.  I know of very few who wouldn't feel guilty winning in those conditions.

Ok, for those of us who don't want to download the 2025 rule book, most of us.  Explain what red flag restart rule was displayed on the TV screen at least twice last week at Tampa, and displayed while Mike pelitier (AMA) was asked about it.

Also explain the 3 more laps.  The rule is 1 more lap after clock expires.  The 7 seconds clock had expired by the time they got to finish line from the restart point.  Or do they just arbitrarily change that rule too?

Good way to become NASCAR and lose fans.
