Did your brand new bike come with replacement parts?

Hey guys, I was wondering if bikes still come with some spare parts from the factory.

Back in 2018 when I bought my YZ 250 it came with a piston kit, a lot of gaskets and orings, a printed owners/service manual, a spoke wrench, etc.

If I'm not mistaken some four strokes also come with a piston kit.

Would like to hear which bike you bought new, and what it included.

Yamaha use to give away lots of stuff with new YZs back in the 1990s , Piston kits, aluminum bike stands, tires. etc. I wish they still did. Yamaha sent the B piston kits and we would trade them for the D piston kits.

Occasionally I've received a Spoke Wrench and an owners manual,..........and sometimes a Triangle stand if I don't forget it in the parking lot.

Anyone here but me ever buy a new 60’s CZ?  They came with boxes of spare parts, pistons, spokes, etc., and a full set of pullers, enough to get the engine completely broken down and rebuilt, just the sort of stuff you’d need to put the bike in the trunk of your Skoda and go off to race a season in Iron Curtain Czecho. LOL.

My 2013 HSQ CR 125 came with a complete top end 144 kit for 6K. Now that was a deal.

It's been done over the years here in Canada, especially with Yamaha two strokes, spare top end kit with purchase of YZ. Not sure if it's an on and off promotion. Maybe someone who works at a Yamaha dealer in Canada can chime in?

I bought a new 23 yz250 last year.  The new yz 2 strokes no longer come with that stuff.  And the manual it comes with is no longer a service manual, only covers the basic stuff like chain adjustment and oil change etc.

That is not standard, sometimes with Yamaha they give out crazy deals to dealers on maintenance parts (pistons , reeds, etc.) and we will throw a top end kit in with a hold back bike for a customer that was rad to deal with and shops with us regularly. But that isn't a Yamaha deal that's just per dealer. I think they come standard with a jet kit, manual, spoke wrench, fuel line plugs and triangle (on 4t yams check behind the LH side plate in the lot for the Wi-Fi tuner before you take it home!), Husqvarna's come with a side plate for some of them, stickers, a pump for the forks, and a triangle, Suzuki comes with the get tuner (but no battery for it lol), pro circuit pipe depending on if they are running the promo and a triangle, and Honda comes with a triangle and manual but I don't think anything else. Manual is a loosely used tern these days I think it shows are pressure for tires and where the kill switch is basically haha, we just let people take pics of the shop manuals when needed for home projects, or just tell them how to do it lol.

In OZ my 1986 CR125 came with top end kit, jets, 2 rear sprockets and heavier front and rear springs, if I remember correctly.

My RM125s used to come with jets and spoke wrench. Suzuki would also have promotions such as free gear bag or easy up. They also gave free Tony D riding schools. One of my YZ250f came with $50 or so of blu cru cash that I got a sweat shirt and umbrella with. Last couple didn’t come with anything 🤷‍♂️

It most definitely used to be a Yamaha deal, atleast up here in Canada.  Every Yamaha 125 and 250 2 stroke (maybe the 85's as well) came with a top end kit, and a full service manual.  When I asked the salesman about it he said he had never heard of that for any bike, but he had just come from an Indian dealership a few months prior. When he asked another salesman that was around about it, he had said that yes Yamaha used to but ended it a couple years prior.

Suzuki did Russ Darnell schools too, I think it was 1980.

I still have 3 of the Suzuki EZ -UPS that I got with my sons bikes in 2007.

Funny. My 2024 KX 250 didn’t come with a skid plate or rear disc guard.  I thought the assembler forgot to install them as the mounting was there, but nope. Optional equipment is what they are listed as.  Weird!

No Replacement parts but my Beta 300 RX came with a really Beta bike stand and a neat little tool kit.  Had a good wrench for shock spring adjustment.

In '97 my dad bought me a new CR80 Big Wheel and my brother a new RM125. We loaded up and were pulling out the driveway and one of the salesmen came running out to grab the triangle stands. It wasn't a little mum and pop dealership either.😂

Geez, I bought a new KX250 back in the 90's in Australia. It came with gaskets, piston, rings, gudgeon pin and bearing. Also, 2 rear sprockets, 2 front, clutch & throttle cables, levers. a package of jets and various other little bits. Plus a printed manual, which I still have somewhere.   It was called a 'spares kit'.  My brothers had Honda's, it was standard for them to come with a similar package.

Honda did the same thing in Australia in the 90's.

Hondas used to come with a spare piston and rings, jets, about 3 full gasket sets along with a full service manual.

Does anyone know what the spare washers/spacers are that come with a 2023 450sxf?

It's not been a common practice in the U.S. for the Japanese manufacturers to ever supply a "spare parts kit" like they do in other countries.  I'm sure it's a distributor decision and probably related to our antiquated franchise dealer laws that were really intended for the auto industry.  Like someone else said, CZ used to package a crate full of parts with each bike...but if you didn't know about them they went on the dealer's shelf to sell.🤣

It seems that fewer and fewer riders actually do their own maintenance these days, especially since the four stroke revolution.  Too complicated and their Dad's didn't have those awesome TV repair tools like our Dad's back in the 60's and 70's.😎

Oh, maybe in Canada! Husky used to do a 144 kit but Yamaha never did anything like that in the states that I am aware of. Cool idea that i doubt we will see again sadly.

As mentioned above, a complete spares kit was common place for Japanese brands in Australia, and it seems in Canada too. Why not in the US? How about in Europe?
I haven’t bought a brand new bike for years, but considering current prices, I’d be expecting something more than a spoke spanner.

Never got any parts included, but I can remember getting a free team jersey from the dealership with their logo on it, along with rub-on decals on the fenders.

2005 Yz125: It came with a triangle stand, jets and needle valve, a printed shop manual, and I believe a spoke wrench.

1976 Yz80: I can't remember exactly what it came with.  That was a long time ago.  I don't remember a triangle stand.  I made my own stand in Middle School metal shop, and a down pipe.  I remember having a set of Yamaha open end wrenches, but they may have come with another bike.  It may have come with a spoke wrench.  This was a super awesome motorcycle!  So is my 125.

No piston kits or anything significant.

Those are the only 2 new bikes I've owned so far.  I'm hoping to change that soon.
