"Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing’s Eli Tomac returns with the team for a final full season in the SuperMotocross World Championship "

Looks like this is it, they've stamped it as Tomac's final full season of racing for 2025. Leaving the door open for a few swan song races in 2026 or maybe an SX-only season.

A motocross racing legend. Wow, time flies, as I remember Eli on amateur Suzukis, then to Geico Honda. Hope for a great season for him in '25. Wish him the best for the remainder of this season as well.

Eli seems like he just doesn't want to ever stop.  2025 will be the last full season, maybe a few races in 26, or the entire SX season..... Before we know it he will race another 3 full seasons. I don't blame him for wanting to stick around. And I hope he keeps racing for as long as he wants to. If that is a season, or a single race.

Glad I'll get another chance to get out and see Eli race next year. And still leaving it open for more.

In recent interviews he looked pumped about racing in general and seemed like he enjoys it more than ever, so that's not a surprise. Every year we get to see more of Eli and Kenny is a blessing in my opinion. Cool that he wants to race a full season, that makes for better racing everywhere! Great news.

Gonna be a good year! Also leaving the door open for a SX only deal in '26 if he wants to keep racing.

Going to be a sad day when he hangs it up. Most exciting racer of all time in my opinion.

Supercross 2025 will have 5 healthy(fingers crossed) SX champions competing in one season (Roczen a 450sx champ?)  and multiple 250sx champions? Its going to be a dog fight all the way back to 20th place.

2025 450 outdoors has the potential to be absolutely insane

Yes! Eli has to feel like he left something on the table in '23 - maybe a lot. It will be good to see if he can summon the magic for one last year. Sexton has stepped it up and Jett is a whole new level, so it will be interesting to see how Eli stacks up.

Until the gate drops at A1... and then the attrition begins. Maybe even before then - seems like practice is biting a lot of them these days.

This announcement is also bittersweet because I am not ready for him to retire yet it makes me happy that he is happy racing still and that he wants to race. My first moto race as a fan was seeing him win the 2022 mx championship. He’s a good dude, and a legend. It will be interesting to see if any of his kids want to follow his path of moto.

A happy Eli for a full SMX season is going to be so cool to watch. You can tell he really wants it. Doing the 4 rounds of WSX to be as prepared for '25 SX. I'd love to see him win it all, but I'm just happy we get to see him continue racing. Eli on the gate is always a great thing. Dude is badass.

The race i’ve rewatched the most is 2022 millville 450 moto 2, beast mode in full effect. To add on to that, when he was WFO in the rollers when no one was announcing then JMart or AMart chimes in(i forget what martin it was).

I will never forget that Hangtown rookie year ride.

I read that as my last FULL season of smx, so could be sx only in 26 then.

I originally read it as last season, but then reread it and was relieved that it may be possibly that he may be doing sx only with wsx or something like that.

We shall see.  I love Eli but I feel time and injuries are catching up to him.  Jett and Chase are young, hungry and formidable and in my opinion have raised the bar even above Eli's peak years.

I'm not sure I have ever seen him so relaxed and happy as the interviews last weekend.  Fun to see.  And happy he is coming back.

Time catches up to everybody eventually.  But Tomac was 3rd in the SX standings when he got injured.  (I don't think his injury was age-related.)  He had 6 podiums and a win in 2024.  Maybe a SX championship is out of reach for him now (especially with Jett around), but it looks like he's still pretty good to me.  I think he had the best age-31 SX season ever.

There goes my hero, watch him as he goes…

It sure is great news that we get one more year!

To be replaced by Deegan in 26, I’d bet.
