Tire pressure gauge

i use the motion pro digital gauge … it works well and seems consistent. 

I use a pump for air forks. Get 2 birds stoned at once.

Rmc/ Tusk brand make an excellent 0-60 Psi gauge fir under 20$

Motion pro high accuracy gauge is the ticket. 

It always reads 2-3 psi different from my other cheapo electronic gauges 

I can’t feel the flex in my engine mounts unless my tires are precisely at 11.88 psi.  That allows for .12 of thermal expansion on the average 75F day.   Kidding of course. 

A good squeeze with my thumb and index finger usually works for me.  Kidding again

I use a digital gauge at the impulse by area of the checkout at cycle gear, buying a tube ironically, and always run 13 psi. 

Get the Tusk 0-30 psi gauge.  It’s as accurate as my Motion Pro old school one.

I use my motion pro to check my harbor freight  digital and non digital gauge. The digital is always within .2 give or take from my motion pro.

As long as you use the same one every time, it doesn’t really matter if it’s 1/2 psi off. 

Kind of funny. We have a good liquid filled, low pressure gauge and the Motion Pro we have always reads different than the gauge we trust. A buddy has given us 2 MP air pressure gauges because when he used them at 13 psi, he ended up with flats. One was a digital MP gauge Maybe he is hard on gauges?

This is the one I use, really nice, really easy to read. I figure drag racers are more fanatical about pressures than even we are so it must be solid.

0-40 so it’s more accurate in the 15ish range, but not so fine that you’ll blow it out when checking after seating the bead. Be careful not to check without using the bleed valve if it’s well above its usable range as you can knock it out of whack.

Gauges are  most accurate in the middle of their intended ranges, same as torque wrenches.

As long as it's reasonably accurate, what's important is consistency and the measured pressures being relative to each other... which they are when you use the same gauge all the time. It's like weighing yourself on a scale - unless you're selling yourself by the pound and need it to be super-accurate, all you really need to know is how much your weight changed from last month, if at all.

Most of the mechanics use a Motion Pro, and others use an Intercomp.  Not a fan of Intercomps, if you want something more high end I'd recommend a Prisma or UniPro.  More importantly if you already have a gauge you're familiar with keep it.

Digital gauges are usually pretty good through the range, like within 1%. I used to calibrate pressure transducers and when people tell me they go by an analog gauge over a digital it makes me chuckle. The accuracy on them is usually a range of 3-5% depending on the position.

My daughter got me a Ryobi operated gun tire gauge with a battery that fits my Ryobi drill. It has a digital display and I love it. Best tool I have.

This wont work for everyone, but I build my own from components.
Most mechanical gauges are only accurate in the middle 1/3 of their sweep range so the 30psi gauge is best for moto.
The two components below and a few inches of PTFE tape will last years and give you consistent results.

I buy whatever setup works well to release pressure and feels good in my hand, then replace the actual gauge with a nicer one. Digital gauges haven't worked well for me, analog is just easier to read and deal with as you're releasing pressure. Though the accuracy drops towards the end of the scale, I like a 0-15 psi gauge best as the increments are further apart and it's easier to be consistent. This is a nice one for a good price:

+/- 1.5% accuracy at the end of the scale, so for 13 psi that's only +/- 0.2 psi. And if you're using the same gauge every time, it will be consistent so it doesn't much matter. And while a 0-30 gauge might get you +/- 1% accuracy in the center of the scale, that's still 0.13 psi on 13 psi; only 0.07 psi better, and it's much harder to read than a 0-15 psi gauge.  

I've got one of these from snap-on only goes up to 20 psi so should be pretty accurate.

For moto, I'd prefer to have a 0-30PSI gauge, but this one works for all of my vehicles.

My vote is LongAcre 0-60psi digital. Accurate to 0.3%. part# 52-53000 

Reads 0.1psi increments 

I think retail was like $140. Comes with a nice hard case for storage and an extra fitting.

Motion Pro and Mullico are the two leading tire pressure gauges in the industry.

I sell both the Mullico and Motion Lro gauges. The Mullico is higher quality and seems to be more accurate. I sell alot of Motion Pro gauges because the price point is right for most. I am a fan of the old school Motion Pro liquid filled gauges myself, but I use the Mullico on the daily.
