Does MXON need a format change? The MX3 is so irrelevant.
MXDN was initially it was a 250 weekend, with a separate 500 weekend.
Maybe it needs changes to stay relevant,
Possibly the team should consist of a 450 rider, 250 rider (and one Electric bike rider, ha fucking kidding.)
Maybe the third rider should be a junior under 16 years old 250cc.
If the qualifying is all over on Saturday, there will be enough time for 6 motos on Sunday.
2 under 16 motos, and 2 mixed Pro motos.
Your thoughts?
its very relevant to everyone outside the USA, the format works well,
Terrible idea . Just because the US has a ton of riders to pick from ,other countries do not . Its hard for alot of countries to find 3 really good rider s to be in with a shot at doing well. Now you d need to find a new junior ever Yr .alot of countries might only have one top 10 rider once in 20 year s maybe a rider that can win could be once ever . Its not the constant conveyer belt of talent the US has . If there was only a two rider team going back into the 90s and 00 s the US would not of been as dominant. The big thing that has changed since 2010s is now other team s can find 3 really good riders . You d just be giving the US a huge advantage every year . When population wise , they already have a big advantage.
Think the point he’s trying to make is the Open class is redundant, every single rider in Open/MX3 rides a 450 so it has lost some of what made the class distinct.
I tend to agree with him and I agree with you too. Both can be true
While yes the open class is a little redundant, but it makes the 3rd race on Sunday all the better as it's usually the two best riders from each country in the one race!
For me don't fuck with the format as there is nothing else in any sport that makes me as anxious/nervous/excited as those moments leading up to that last moto

The only change needed is that the US needs to rediscover national pride, and show up.
Came to say the same.
3 best riders, no restrictive age limits.
Anstie in for us is huge, 1-1 at Matterley last time, needs to be on a 450 though.
The only bikes run in the “open” class are 450’s, the same that’s run in the “450” class. Seems kind of redundant! 😝
Just go back to the old format . Everyone on the same size bike running 2 motos and tally up the score at the end .
No changes needed.
Put one of the riders on a quad.
Nope, the format they run now is quite unique and makes the event what it is. That final moto with MX1 and MX3 is a barn burner, all the top guys, 2 from each country. I'm more inclined to say, get rid of the drop moto score. Make everything count. So you don't have 1 hero ride make all the difference...
Pitty 125s aren't made anymore. How sick would it be to see the youngest rider on a 125...
Irrelevant? To who?
FIM emx125....european championship
FIM junior world championship......one end of season race, like mxdn but for 65, 85 and 125
FFmoto tv junior class......french national championship
Offroadproracing.......Internazionali di italia 125
there is also the dutch masters, british championship, german championship etc.
Do whatever with the team event but add an individual event and let's crown a world champion. Winner wears stripes or some kind of world champion colors for the next year. To race in the individual event you have to be on your country's 3 man team, which will incentivize reluctant riders and teams.
Add a mystery joker card so only 1 team gets to use all 6 results where everyone else can only use 5 results.
Yeah, go back to des nations
a stubborn man can only get more stubborn.......
every year 6 world champions of motocros are crowned...... and then there are all the american world champions that i really dont know how many it is.....i guess the world has enough of them ......
but even if they would do the changes you ask for, it would be just for one year, cuz if you havent notice, americans dont win anymore, not even at home !!!!! so next year here would you be bitching about the change you wanted to make before, and inventing new ones to try and mask reality.......
Pit Row
Does MXdN 2022 ring a bell? Lol
You wouldn't want to see all of the best riders in the world on the same track in the same class competing for a world title?
And fuck off with your continued anti-american drivel.
You realize the guy that called it irrelevant is an Aussie, right?
The ballot should be replaced by a timed practice.
i was expecting that from you........what are you then ????? i am just responding to your non american bitching !!!!!!!
i respect the greatness of american motocross racing, i am a fan and follow it for a long time now, as i do any other racing all over the world because i am really passionte for dirtbikes, not only motocross but all other different ways of racing bikes, all besides speedway and flattrack, goind around turning left all the time is not for me......but as you feel for your country, so do i, and if it gets to you that someone id bitching about your side of things, it does to me also....i had to stfu a long time, america was the best, americans were all full of themself and showed litle respect, but won !!!!!! now they dont, they cant and all that attitude is not accepted anymore, its time to humlbe down and show respect where its due.....and that why i answer you like i do.....
As for the sport, i understand that its impossible to have all best racer in the world behind one gate for a series of races, the economy of the sport makes it impossible to joint mxgp and promotocross toghether.....
so we got one race in the end of the year that joints everyone to race for their flag, like the olympics, and there we have the mx1 and mx3 race that is the best we can get to that best in the world race, meaning nothing but very important for bragging rights....
and that is the only change i think could be done to the actual mxdn setup, have the mx1/mx3 race be the first, every one fresh and not much tactics yet....also it would give a bit of and advantage to the mx2 class since they would be fresher then the 450 guys racing them........
I don't think it's a matter of pride, I think the current situation is the result of years of shifting the emphasis to SX for the factory-level pros - your results are the product of your efforts.
The US factory teams don't care as much about the MX series for one simple reason - money. SX is a made-for-TV product that brings sponsor dollars to support the teams. They spend 17 weekends try to kill off the best riders before the MX series begins and it ends up being a series whose outcome is largely determined by rider attrition due to injury and factory apathy due to lack of money. When was last time a factory was interested in signing a US rider to a MX only contract? You didn't see Mookie skip the SX series for 10 years to race the Nationals and GPs. Sure, there are a few US guys that are still interested in being the best they can be in MX, but the factories don't have private MX tracks where they practice standardized obstacles over and over trying to shave off hundredths of a second. They aren't paid to be the best in MX, the factories want SX titles in the US.
No, the fact is that MX has been relegated to 2nd class status in the US and the results bear this out.
But hold a SXdN and see how they do.
You are what you do.
Let’s fix a problem that doesn’t exist … 🤦♂️
Make MX3 a 2-stroke class.
That would provide a much bigger wild card than having two 450 classes like they essentially have now.
Add the best time from all 3 riders and assign the gates based on the lowest time.
If there's a tie, go to the previous year's results and assign the gate based on who had the best overall finish.
That said, the ballot is random and gives every team an equal chance.
Calm down, and re-read what I proposed. I haven't "bitched" about anything, and I'm not proposing any changes to the MXdN team race. I would add an individual competition to the existing event schedule, either a couple days before or after the team event. All of the best riders in the world on the same track in the same class with no excuses about team tactics, quirky gate picks, etc.
You know the FIM holds a world championship for juniors, why not do the same for the seniors?
why is it so dawn difficult for you to accept that there already is a motocross world championship.......
And have them run the track backwards.
