Man, looking through that list and across both classes we are alright at 20 riders injured and not racing this weekend. Quite a bit more than I was anticipating.

less whoops, no dragonbacks, and the same layout at 6 races promised us fewer injuries, this report can't be real.

Thank god they didn't do more over-unders... That would have decimated the entire field.

I’m sure the secret data will be analyzed and next year we’ll be looking at a 3 whoop limit and jump heights maxed at 2 feet…

Not trying to defend feld here, but we would have to compare to the numbers of injured riders from past year at the same date to know the real significance of that number. But it sure seems high. Maybe rut-o-cross has something to do with the injuries. Maybe they could try to fix that problem for next year. But we can't be TOO mad that they tried something lessen the number of injuries. Now, if it doesn't actually work, let's hope they are smart enough to not stick to it because the track were hella borring this year as so many people have pointed out.

They should have a two month gap between the end of supercross and the start of outdoors. Push outdoors two months, instead of June, July, August, make it August, September, October. This isn't the 70's, we don't need to worry about kids and school anymore. Pro up and comers are always in home school  these days. And if they're worried about rain, move the first two races to the last two. We don't really get rain in October in California/

Shorten the SX season and start the real racing on time.

15 SX (of which I would have 3 speedway type tracks), 12 nationals, and 3 SMX and call it a day. Less SX would probably be better for attrition, but Feld won't want to cut any off, getting 1 or 2 dropped off would be a miracle. Too much money to be made, even if some of the top talent is missing.

The thing about data is you can essentially use it to tell any story you want.

Spending less money on dirt? Let's find a way to say it's in the name of safety!

31 riders “Out for SLC” last year. 16 450, 15 250. 32 total if you count Brandon Hartranft‘s pre season injury.

even then, it's impossible to compare year to year, quite a few are out for the season due to practice track crashes.

I think it’s fair to say that the racers aren’t happy with the tracks, the core fan base isn’t happy with them, and Feld is cutting corners to give riders money to maintain margins.

The season ends in early September because College/NFL football decimates the TV viewership of any other sport once it starts.  It would be better to cut SX down to 12 races and the outdoors down to 8 so we might actually be able to complete a season with more riders healthy...but that won't happen either.

SX season should be capped at 15 rounds.

We all love SX but "absence makes the heart grow fonder".

12 SX, 3 week break, 12 MX, 2 week break, 3 SDMX. Leaves plenty of time for MXdN and off season races, or recovery time, whatever the rider chooses.

Riders crash in whoops regardless of how many there are. It happens.

It is the rhythm sections that knock riders out races and seasons when things go wrong.

Just the nature of our sport.

I'm bored of the tracks. It's the same shit every weekend and some needs to be done.

Think how much better it would be if every race was a Triple Clown, and Feld had to have saved $100K in track building costs…

It's almost like having 20 riders racing on a tight track full of steep jumps is dangerous or something. Thank god the real racing is about to begin.

It’s the same thing with everything.

There are …

less chips in the bag

Smaller size chicken tenders

Shorter baby back rib slabs

less dirt on the Supercross track

I wonder if the 9 whoops was really more about saving time making them

I can't remember a season with this many muddy tracks. An anomaly for sure. That has to be taken into account.

When you compare data, you can find associations that are meaningless, however, I don't believe we have enough data yet to find causation.

So, what we’re witnessing is SX Shinkflation?

Yes, and also shrinkage due to the chilly/wet early rounds...Everybody knows about shrinkage, right?
