Very nice! I got this bike out of Leola, PA about 25 years ago from family that bought out USA Carabela Importer. It was a 250 motor in a 125 frame with a deep red gas tank. The shop owner said it originally had Simons forks on it and said to be a practice/test bed bike. Sold it a few...

I have a passion for oddball brands. Wanted to do this one for years and finally getting started. I have most of the parts I need, being the engines were made by Moto Villa. I was able to get what I needed out of Italy. Rebuilding the Simons forks and mocking up a Cross up swing arm to send to a builder.

The MX-# designation represented the generation of the MX model. Not at all related to engine displacement. The first bikes using this desigination were MX-1 125 and 175 in 1973. The first 250 motocrosser was 1975 MX-1 that was released mid 1974. The last model was the 1981 MX-6B that came with an aluminum swingarm that I believe was supplied...
I put about 6000 in my last project bike an 07 KX250 smoker. Got a set of probably one of the last available OEM centercases from Kawasaki, new OEM crank assembly too. Same thing, all internal bearings were replaced including the small ones that are a pain to remove with normal pullers. Everything was OEM Kawasaki, except for the Phathead racing cylinder head. Had the forks and shock rebuild by A1 in Atlanta and went a cheaper route on Warp9 wheel sets with the silver rims & blue hubs. I did change from silver to green powdercoat on the frame...

Well said. Absolute piles of shit for $1800, sellers think they are sitting on gold mines. Or seller powder coats the frame and swingarm black with new black plastic with new graphics that has their individual number and torn seat but it only needs new reeds to run good and don't tell you about the JB welded center cases that are almost impossible to source now. I've been scouring marketplace for weeks now.. it's like this over and over. Lots of interesting bikes in the 3500+ range, but as others have said nobody has disposable income right now and nothing...

Imo.... inflation.. gas is high... food is high... taxes are up... nearly everything is higher, and some segments like cars/trucks are way higher (price a used car lately?).. and many overspent during covid... look at the car/truck repo market rn..

Still here, changed my view when Kawasaki announced the new model release. Prior to that there was no confirmation from the manufacturer, only speculation and unverifiable claims from the dark corners of the internet.

I wish someone still made purple fork guards for this model, and purple plastic too. I have a lonely NOS right hand fork guard holder if anyone is looking

Watch out - when Deegan learns to bulldog that 450 and rev it even harder, he’ll be untouchable. This is sarcasm for the dense BTW.

Agreed. I absolutely cannot stand Deegan. But he is a bad dude on a bike and very impressive with what he is doing so early in his 450 career in terms of pace and consistency.

The moto track leaves a lot to be desired, but the event itself is fantastic. Unsanctioned barrel racing until 3 AM. Live DJ and stage in the far corner. Fireworks going off all night. Bikes for sale everywhere. Huge swap meet. We turned the trailer fan on and went to bed by 11. It was still loud. The hare scramble creek crossing has a GNCC feel to it. People standing everywhere in the woods. Big crowds. Carson Brown, Alex Ray, Michael Willard, Quinn Wenztel, Josh Toth. Fast guys on old bikes!

You can really hear the 4-strokes screaming during this moto. Bllaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh. I miss the sound of the 2-strokes wound fully out so much.

It's how they teach little kids to do it on 65s & 85s when they're unable to pick it up normally. Never seen anyone do it in a pro race. 🤣

If you’ve not attended this prestigious affair yet, place it on your itinerary, it’s likely right up your can of tuna fish. Bizarre, party, unruly and extremely Moto.
