People have short memories (or think everyone else does) when it comes to hyping the next phenom or GOAT.

The experts say how Jett, Sexton, and Deegan are the current total packages compared to the majority of the other riders like ML and Lewis refer to some as having a higher “ceiling”.  There have been amateurs and pros we expected a lot from but it is so easy to have something to go wrong at just 1 round to lose a title which is why our sport is so elite.  They were talking about baseball skills tonight but although they don’t make many errors they get 150+ games and once in the big leagues get at least a 15+ year career to average out.  You can lose a mx ride or have an injury in 1 race.

The difference is you have him chasing records from 2 different riders. And he can do much of that himself possibly, Before 30.

And if 124 is your number he is at 16 of the way there at age 20. and if you count 150 as the total he is at 43 and that is not counting SMX

Will he? who knows. Can he? Absolutely. No one in 250's currently is going to challenge him in the next 3 seasons

Jett currently has 30 career wins not 43.  Ricky’s 150 is 125MX, 250t/450MX and 250t/450SX.

What are you talking about?…“nobody coming up?“  I went from 80 beginner to 250 pro in three years.  There are 80cc beginners out there that will beat Jett in the future… the question is how long can he keep his game elevated to fight off the ones coming up?  It is shortsighted to say there is nobody else coming up,  I’m guessing there’s a few 12 or 13-year-olds out there that will give Jett all he can handle later in his career; but that’s just a guess.  I’m certainly not thinking there’s “nobody coming up.”

And a lot of these little bastards are getting some incredible skills very very early on ripping around their back yards for 4 hrs a day on these electric bikes.  Not a huge fan of electric powered motorcycles but there is no denying that when a 4 year old can do unlimited laps like that, well that's basically programing him/them to be great riders when they mature.  I wonder how early jet started riding.  I want to say not that early.  So maybe my theory sucks....

I’d say if you can crash in the first turn and pass your way up to a pro top 5 or podium on a sketchy track late in the main someone’s gonna take some scouting notes.  Or, if you start top 5 and find your way around your competitors to win with a safe margin that’s champ material.

Some are legends in their own mind but at least they got out there and tried.  You gotta start as your own hero to be one to others.

If he stays healthy for 10 years, he re-writes the record books.

That’s funny how moto people use the word “healthy” to describe being in decent form and not having too many nagging broken bones or surgeries when most of the world thinks it means staying away from eating too much junk food and walking their dog for exercise.

People will disagree but chase has to get comfy on that bike. He’s on arguably one of the top three teams in the paddock and continually complains about bike setup. Learn to ride it or move on man not everything will be tailor made to you.

guys would kill to be in his spot, AP is doing great. Stop blaming the bike and just ride the damn thing.

getting kind of sick of riders thinking everything needs to be perfect to win. Maybe you’re not as good as everyone told you you were.

edit: case in point Kroc. On a satellite team with. Bike from 2018 with no e start. Has no issues beating chase regularly and honestly riding better. Stop focusing on what you don’t have and ride the bike.

someone pointed this out to me and i realized Chase is a bike baby, it’s always his bikes fault. F that. Chase just sucks so he blames his bike

Yea I mean it just seems odd when you listen to interviews with him. He was constantly searching for things with the Honda, blaming his tucked front ends or mistakes on the bike.

same with ktm, running that hybrid kyb suspension and he always sounds kind of negative or like a downer. Meanwhile Jett is winning on the Honda that he left and AP and Vialle are winning on the KTM he’s on.

maybe he needs to stop searching for a magic setting on these bikes and just learn to ride it?

to my recollection McGrath was never injured and I definitely hope the same for Jett, though we have to consider the odds of an injury-free career.

72 wins is probably even more remarkable than we're aware of. we're used to saying it. it's the gold standard. we're comfortable with that number, but when you really look at everything it took, the forces of nature to come together to make that possible, the odds of it being exceeded are still very slim imo.

MC had a foot injury but I think that only affected the outdoors.  He also may have had arm pump surgery later in his career.  After he retired he broke his neck at his own invitational race.  But yeah he was pretty super nac!

It would have been nice to have had this conversation after 4 titles and 50 or so wins. Boy did that fail miserably...

Shame about the US amateur system. Multiple posts on here saying Prado may be Jett's competition, but hardly a mention of any fast young Americans save for Deegan. Whom I think we can all agree, has his distractions. This country is perhaps the largest and wealthiest country that races MX/SX, we certainly have the largest aftermarket, the most tracks, the most dealers, the most trainers, the biggest amateur events. That a kid from a country whose entire population is perhaps equal to the state of Texas can dominate is embarrassing to those involved in coordinating the growth and health of the sport in this country. That Jett is not the only example reinforces the lack of America's ability to develop talent, Prado, Vialle, Davies in futures, a rider admittedly past his prime from Germany the only one who can hang with him here now, on and on.

That's the result of growing up in training facilities, racing a few times a year, having multiple classes (A,B and C), racing full blown factory superminis, thinking a whole amateur season is just a race in August in Tennesse, and racing short races until you turn pro, you have created a generation of very good riders but not very good racers, unlike Jett who grew up racing amateur in Australia/Europe and did the oposite, seems that racing Belgian/Dutch championships in the deep sand of Lommel or Lierop teaches you more than spinning laps on a perfect track in a training facility.

But not everything is lost for american amateurs, american teams are still ignorant, thinking european riders cannot ride SX, they are "MX Specialist", the only team that has opened their eyes and realize that Euros can Learn Supercross seems to be Kawasaki, this is the first time in a long time a MXGP champion has switched brands to race in America, for sure Jorge cannot be as fast as Jett right now on a SX track, but he can on a MX track, give him a year of full time SX and he will be at the front, look at Tom this year.

There are a lot of European riders that would love to race in the US, if American teams were to give them a call, those Europeans could be a better choice than an a kid racing Lorettas right now, if you guys just copied the European amateur system, the US  riders would smoke the rest of the world in every MXdN.

Coenen Brothers VS Lawrnce Brothers is the next Era in MX/SX im excited for

He also went SX only at age 26 to extend his career and get 30ish more SX wins and 3 more championships. I don’t see Jett doing that. Just another reason why 72 is so difficult to get to.

I think it’s odd how people like to focus on 450 as a measure of success.. Most of these racers have been going as fast as they can their whole childhood and pros winning regional titles.  People ignore the fact that Hunta had a big 250 career till his brother took over 450.  It was a big deal to have a perfect season and be leading now but he’s been doing that for many years.

The only thing that could stop Jett is injury, that's about it.

MC will always be the king to me though, even if Jett gets 500 wins.

Let's look at SX as the baton was passed...

Hannah - RJ - Jeremy - RC - Stew - RV - Dungey - Eli/Coop - Jett - ?

? - Father Time and an 18-20 year old with talent and guts will be there to rip the baton from Jett. That is assuming he makes it on the list. Injuries, early retirement or ill-handling machinery, could prevent it.

Yup “cool your Jetts” 72 or even passing 1 legend is still a ways off.  Doubting bike issues the way he rides and with modern tech.

There were similar predictions made for another rider.. I forget his name, green bike #259. He certainly looked poised to break all the records.

Having said that, Jett rides at a different level so crashes aren’t very common and if he doesn’t burn out and stays with his proven machine there shouldn’t be too many bumps along the road.

8-10 seasons winning +60% of the races should get it done.

Sounds great if you're playing tennis or ping-pong.

Supercross is a whole other animal. "Shouldn't be too many bumps". The carnage this sport has caused is breathtaking 💀😲☠️

so youre assuming honda will always have a great handling bike?  Im sure KTM thought this also, and its plagued their riders, yamaha thought this and it seems certain pro level riders have struggled with it also.  At some point in his career Jett will end up with an ill handling honda that he wont like and will be fighting the setup.  Jett could be one that just pushes past a junk setup though so we will see how this plays out.
