That would be the Bimota.

I thought maybe Kenny at first for 2025, but Ducati doesn't start in the US until 2026 right, so that's out of the water. Who else could it be?

I think currently “rideless” at the moment Ferrandis would have to be an obvious option here right?

I’m curious to see if Ducati’s global appeal and ties to MotoGP will bring any new sponsors to their MX effort

My dream bike is a ducati monster.  I've never heard a better sounding bike than one of those with the dry clutch (although the speed triple sounds really good too!).  And that was a super lame video to announce their entry into the MX market.  I have a hard time understanding how Triumph and Ducati can see the dirt bike market as profitable enough to want to enter it.  Maybe these seeds were laid a few years ago when times were better.  I like it and hope it works out for them.  If anything, more manufacturers in the market should help prices for the consumers (increased competition).  However, I think a lot of the costs controls are out of the manufactures hands and are a topic for another thread.

KTM joined motogp in 2017. After 5 “lackluster” years, KTM is now competitive and arguably Ducati’s toughest competition. I believe this Ducati mx project probably started around the same time. This has to be somewhat of a rivalry for European motorcycle racing hierarchy.

Although, maybe I’m reading too much into it.

Ducati's main competition in MotoGP is Ducati at the moment... They're in a league of their own...

KTM has been improving for sure but seeing Miller's performance this season (fast for a bit and drops down without clear explanations) and seeing the second KTM team (GasGas) results, I doubt the KTM group is super pumped on it yet...

As of Ducati in MX, Tony is a great addition as well as Maddii. Maddii Racing had the Husky 125cc Factory program in the late 90s early 2000s with a lot of success with Chiodi. But times have changed and the other teams have quite a big head start in today's age of MX.

Lastly, it's MX. Not MotoGP or Formula1 where having the bike equipment gives you results. Suzuki sucked for years until they gave the Goat 5 mil a year. KTM sucked until they got Dunj'. If you want to win in MX/SX, you don't need the best bike. RC never raced the best bike other than in MX in 2004. I don't think Dunj or Webb had the best bikes at KTM either when they won their championships. Yamaha won 450 championships lately with the best riders of the moment in the class, Eli and Dylan, not necessarily the best bikes. So, if Ducati wants to be succesful, they need to build a decent bike and buy a potential title contender on his A game.

Right, with 8 riders and the best bike on the grid, I agree they are in their own league this year. Although, KTM’s success is amassed by Brad Binder not Miller. Although one could argue he is somewhat of an alien on the bike. I believe the progress of the Pierer Mobility is moving in the right direction and fast.

My point was more about if Ducati feels ’motivated’ by KTM in the grand scheme of things. Or is it simply diversifying the product line, looking to enter a market to drive revenue?

As far as MX and Ducati are concerned I agree with your statement. Not as concerned about the development of a Motocross bike as I am who will ride the bike.

I love it. I've been excited about all of the new brands that have announced new bikes lately, but this one hits different.

You know how there are crazy fans in F1 and MotoGP who are rooting for a team/brand instead of a driver/rider? I think this might happen on some level in MX as well with Ducati, especially in GP's. Ducati for me is something special like that, they have that ultra-passionate attitude about their brand and racing kinda like Ferrari does, for example.

I just hope they are brave enough to be different from other bikes/teams on certain things. I would love the bike to look radical and unique like no other current bike out there.

And when the Ducati MX450 has check engine light on , u mast take the bike to the dealer and pay $200 for diagnosis. I had some Ducati street bikes but the maintenance cost compared to Japanese bike is just sooo up there.

What year Ducati street bike? I've had a few(still have my 1098 track-bike) and they have been solid and marginally more expensive to maintain (valve adjustment), everything else was comparable.

Do you think that a 2026 Combat Wombat would sell.

It would have to be some teaser video.

Lol , yeah it would.  These days I'm more interested in vintage bikes . There was a non running Wombat near me for cheap recently but I wasn't quick enough on the draw , but it got me thinking about them .

probably fake but this is more the kind of radical forward thinking design I want to see. at least the shroud to the frame.

Its most likely AI generated . Foot bake on the left side. for one. The bike in the videos looked very different from this one too. Not that ,that matters. I'm sure there is a lot of small things the more you look that will stick out as not real.

That's actually their radical new idea.  Foot brake on the left, gears on the right.

Am I the only one that feels that with Ducati entering the sport is somewhat a bad thing? I feel like they are going to want a premium for their bikes, probably 15k or more. I feel like this will make other manufacturers raise prices due this and price the weekend warrior out of the sport. Or I could be wrong and they will undercut KTM to shit on them and it will be a competitively priced bike.

When they entered the Superbike segment of street-bikes they entered at the top end, but there bikes came with Ohlins suspension, Brembo brakes, Magnesium rims, all the good stuff people add after purchase. None of the other manufacturers did that, they had KYB forks and Nissin brakes aluminum rims etc.  They were providing an off the shelf Super-Superbike.

If they do come in at say $15K, it will probably come with all the high-end bits most people add after purchase, like suspension, chain & sprockets, exhaust & tuning, brakes, etc. etc.etc.

Speaking of this, how cool would it be if they come with ohlins suspension? If they really want to stand out and make a splash having a completely different suspension setup would be pretty awesome.

You must have missed it, the tires are ground breaking, they have rubber spikes...

Wrong engine. That’s for their new middle weight or hypermotard. But could be a sneak peak at what is coming for the mx bike, being single cylinder and all.

It would really be funny for Ducati to finally jerk the curtain back, and say FAKE OUT……..then show the world a Stark Varg knock off Electric Motocross bike with Ducati written all over it.

Would be kind of a bummer. Ohlins can never seem to figure it out on the moto side. It looks cool sure, but I’ll take kyb or Showa over ohlins any day.

The rally pro premium plus edition has KYB. Leads me to believe the moto bike will get KYB as well.
