This thread is really off the rails!  So are we sending AP, RJ and Craig?  When will this be announced?  I am good with that team, could make top 5 if they ride well.  IMO France and Australia are 1A and 1B (give edge to France just because they have 3 top quality riders and being at home), then Belgium (they could surprise), then in no particular order:  NLD, Spain,  Germany, US, etc.  I think Jett will be the fastest dude there.  Would be surprised if he was not top 2 in both his motos.  For 250s I think Hunter or Coenen...  Just spitballing

From the country they are riding for.

You and mxb2 should get together.  With foreign countries and random individuals funding the US MXoN effort everything should be dandy.

You expect the riders to represent their country but not the country to represent them (fund).

Who is this race for? Seriously is it for each country to send their best team to dominate against other countries in a one off MX race or is it for the fans to watch the best riders from their country to do their best?

Welcome to the 2023 MXDN brought to you by Monster Energy,  sorry no team from USA will be here because Monster Energy Kawasaki and Monster Energy Star Yamaha won't support it. Yep every time I say it it Pisses me off.

I am no expert but Travel for three riders and teams, bikes, tools, lodging, getting the rigs there (assuming they would borrow from MXGP teams) but pay for gas and drivers, meals/snacks/beverages, and other costs I am sure I am missing I think it is north of $700K and most likely more.  We would need more than just us fans to chip in some cash.  But - could put a company in a great position to be seen.

And is there any money from the AMA?

I am a huge RD fan, but i really like your idea of Jeremy Albrecht and think he would be great.

Where did this $700k come from? Some guy took a guess and many of you are taking that as fact....as BobbyM so famously used to say...what a bunch of spermbeards...

My position all along has been that the teams money issues have been an excuse and if the AMA and fans raised enough money to cover the expenses you still wouldn't see Kawi and would only see Star depending on Bobby's mood at the time...to keep this from happening in the future the AMA has to do the following:

They have to set a deadline no later than the end of SX for teams to commit to sending at least one rider from their team

They need to create a way to raise money (more than just a golf tournament) to offset the costs to the teams...FFS if Pulp can raise $140k for a privateer challenge through a bike raffle we can certainly raise enough to off-set the costs for MXDN

I hate to say but replace RD with a manager that is not connected to any team or any current team manager or any team ambassadors.....Jeremy Albrecht fits this bill perfectly.

I think that $700k is extremely high and everything could easily be done for $200k. they have to decide who is essential to the teams and who is not and pay for only those people. Like I said the key is to know what teams will allow their riders to go way before the end of August...just think of the time and effort that could have been saved by Mike Pelletier and team if they knew that Star wasn't going to let their riders go by the end of May....Why Team USA is on their heels reacting just before the MXDN instead of looking forward and being proactive. Hopefully they will learn from this moving forward.

Maybe in April or May the AMA could ask for expressions of interest from riders who would commit to going (bar injuries) to give themselves time to choose a team and organise logistics. By making it more transparent it could generate more interest and support.. just my 2 aussie cents.

Americans are hypocritical about "American Made", the world's largest company by revenue is Walmart, a significant proportion of their products are made in China, the same for Amazon and Apple!

If this event isn’t about money then why does infront charge so much to the promoters to hold the race? Why are the VIP tickets so expensive? General Admission is not cheap either. Why does everyone have to do it for the pride of their country. A lot of teams hold fund raisers to raise money so Infront can use their riders front and center in their advertising so they can make even more money. The system is broken. Everyone is supposed to “give” what they can so the crime syndicate that runs infront can potentially make 7 figures in one weekend?

It’s kind of amazing that every year, the US MXoN thread stays at the top of the page pretty much 24/7 in the surrounding weeks of the event and almost all of the conversations is just shit slinging.

I don’t know how y’all do it.

Assuming Craig is the third, for the first time in history team Canada has a chance to beat team USA at this race. Pretty crazy to think.

Almost 1000 posts(holy crap) and off the rails for sure.  Valiant try to bring it back.  I’m worried about Craig.  I think they should have borrowed a KX somewhere and brought Masterpool.  He earned it most of what’s left….and no contract conflicts!  If there were an outdoor National on October 6th I would bet a shit ton of money on Ty over Christian.  Colt too for that matter.  Borrow Ben Watson’s practice bike!

I'm gonna bet that what we have was the last best option available.  Craig knows how to ride.  All he needs is a couple of top 10's to keep us near the podium...maybe not on it but near.Grinning

I know you're from down under (which by the way, I just got off of two business calls with good friend and business colleagues: 1 in Australia, and one in NZ), but that photo and what you posted actually affirmed Longbutter's position, not the opposite.  So no irony.
