You may be right, but him saying that could be a good thing in that he had some issues with last year's bike and seems pretty comfortable so far this year.

Chase: Can you make this feel more like a KTM?

Honda: Why?

Chase: No reason......

Sexton is not a fan of the Lawrence show.
Sexton is not going to Star w ET3 on the Team.

The Man RD likes humble midwest riders, like RD3. Chase will do just fine on orange.

Will take Jettson a season or 2 to adjust to 450SX, maybe 1 season for 450MX.

Didn't Jett get a first and a second at MXDN last year on a 450?

well thats a bit left field.

But i agree with what someone else said regarding Jett Lawrence. Yes he was fast at MXON but how can you put all this expectation on him? surely the best bet is to pay millions to Chase and get the young guy settled with little pressure.

If KTM can have three riders on the stable which must cost a tonne then how is it hard for Honda to stump up the coin for two Alpha riders?

It’s not about Honda having the money. Neither Sexton nor Jett would want to be second fiddle to the other.  And I could see Sexton wanting to get away from the mirts marketing machine.

Don't a lot of these moves require Eli retiring? I know he said he was, but as of now he seems non-committal as to weather he will or won't race SX next year.

From the best bike in whoops to the worst.  It will be interesting to see how this works for him next year.

I feel like Chase going to KTM would be a big mistake on his part. Not bashing just the truth. Star would be the best fit for him, even if it meant teaming with ET3 for a season.

If Chase doesnt like being in a team with Jett at Honda id find it hard to believe hed go to Star and be a clear number 2...

I hope he doesn't sign with KTM. Their team system seems to have run it's course, with DeCoster and Harrison's methods not keeping with the times. From the chaos of their amateur program, apparent mishandling of the Dungey/Carioli summer, to the "marriage" to Aldon Baker's program, it seems an archaic program to the likes of a Star Yamaha or even Honda's own systems now in place. Got to change with the times.

That is so easy to say it's not working when the best talent isn't at the team, if they had Sexton and Jett there you wouldn't be saying that.

A lot of people are forgetting Sexton wasn’t happy with the Honda previously in SX. Now it seems it’s better and he makes the statement; “doesn’t feel like a Honda”.
The bike may be better this year but it’s be too late for Chase to stay.

Secondly, do people really think he hasn’t ridden the KTM and knows what he’s going to?

I can't believe how much hope Honda is putting into Jett alone. Then his brother kind of tags along for the contract signing. Hunter is very fast, don't get me wrong. At times he's faster than Jett. But Honda is basically looking at Jett alone thinking they can make a McGrath or Carmichael type of winner out of him.. Its not going to happen. He's going to find out this summer how hard he has to ride that 450 to try and get wins.

Roll another fat one pudgy.

I find these comments comical. It wasn't that long ago that a lot of Vital members would be saying "Chase would be stupid to go ride the turd of a Yamaha and a big mistake to not take KTM up on their offer". Seems like the trends on Vital go with whatever way the wind is blowing. Jus saying

The bikes, personal, sponsors, equipment can change on these teams, can't they?

How do you guys keep saying that he doesn't want to be number 2 on a team. You have no idea what he thinks about it. To me it seems he's more concerned about being comfortable on the bike.

Chase doesn't seem to care about popularity or any of that shit. He just wants to win. He could come into any team as the number 2 and easily be the top guy when he starts winning.

As good as you are, you have a long way to go with a lot of obstacles on your career track like anyone else. Very good very young doesn't mean a lot to me. That helps for sure but you are just starting to climb the climb.

If sexton goes to KTM it may take a year to sort the bike out. A year that Jett could use to pull ahead and then Chase never catches up. Risky to change brands and think you are going to pick up where you left off.

You must not have listen to the interview where Chase literally says "I wanna be the #1 guy on the team. I don't want to be fighting for attention to get my own bike settings dialed in, when they're catering to the other guy."

He's clearly talking about having Roczen as a teammate and soon to be Jett as a 450 teammate.

Am I missing something on Tomac? Everything I've heard him say makes it seem like he's pretty much done after SX this year. He's said he won't rule anything out, but it's always followed by "a lot of thing are going to have to change to make that happen.", and Matthes claims when he's asked him about the SMX playoffs, he's shown zero interest.

He would fit better on the Husqvarna. It just looks right.

Anderson and Eli would beg to differ.

You’re both right. There’s no way to know but if he’s signing he’s ridden the bike, met the team, and will have a good understanding if this feels like the right direction. This part is a mental game as much as it’s about the bike itself.

I am sure money is part of it. Honda can’t give Chase a huge contract with Jett waiting in the wings to possibly get an even a bigger contract a year or two later.

I would -not- rule out anyone…any team…at this time…

He’s coming up on a period where he is the fastest known available rider. I’m guessing that all the teams are making budget considerations or “what ifs” regarding Chase.

Most contracts have "first right to refusal", and if he only signed a letter of intent with KTM there are still options. None of us have any idea about budgeting etc, but it seems Honda would want to keep him even with Jett coming.

By the looks of the added material on Chase's Honda frame, which is already a very rigid bike IMO, KTM better get out the welder and plate steel.
