Only $10 for all 2026 SX, MX, and SMX series.
Can’t they just keep adding lime to the dirt to dry it out?
(joking)
Grab yourself a coffee.
Not cancelled, but Oakland SX was postponed for 1 week back in 1980 due to heavy rain and flooding. They were going to have a sportsman race the next day, but it was cancelled too. I had actually qualified to race the amateur event, paid my entry fees and everything and the sob's never refunded anyone a dime.
Cancel it. This will end up f'ing the season up for a few title contenders guaranteed, who wants to watch a Supercross with guys just trying to stay up in first gear. Not to mention I'm not paying a good chunk of money to sit in the rain to watch a mud race. I guess I'm not as hardcore as you guys. Cancel it. Mother nature is gonna take the win on this one.

Yes. The 1974 St. Charles, MO round of the Trans AMA series was canceled by Edison Dye because he refused to turn over the purse money to the AMA before the race. It was muddy, there were few spectators, and he said he would lose more money if the race was held than if it were canceled.
Subsequently he was black balled from the sport by the AMA and the "father of US motocross" basically disappeared from the scene until Tom White recognized him with a ceremony at the Glen Helen Walk of Fame in the early 2000's.

The question really isn't whether it should be cancelled, it's whether they can actually build a track while it is raining pretty constantly. It looks like Thursday is the only day that the rain isn't too bad, but can they build a track like that in a single day?
Rain or shine.
How are they going to build a track out of chocolate pudding ?
The NFL doesn't cancel games for rain.
The NFL cancelled a game from it's schedule this year. I didn't say it was due to weather, but rather meant to imply we do not need a similar reaction by our sanctioning body.
I qualified to race also, bummed me out that it got canceled.
I just dont see this being a good thing, but I’ll watch 🍿 😁
Don’t cancel…
on a side note…holy trip down memory lane reading the ads on the left side of that article!
They cancelled for a player essentially dying on live TV, on the field. The fuck is wrong with you?
The absolute worst analogy that has ever been used on Vital....
Recently everytime it's been muddy they have delayed the races. Cancelled practices. Etc.
Maybe those races they have done that to get better conditions.
But this weekend it doesn't look like delaying the race will improve it. So it will be interesting to see what they do.
Race! Use the practice beater bikes👍
You’re getting a lot of down votes but I’m on your side
id rather see a dumbed down track that’s somewhat raceable over a full blown sx that everyone just tries to survive
Pit Row
The game was postponed/suspended on Monday. MUCH different dynamic and end result from the decision to cancel the game on Thursday. Do you actually think I'm coming in here to give the opinion you're referring to?
The NFL also isn't played on a dirt track made up of jumps.
Line 'em up!
Must be a bengals fan. Cancelling that game made the most sense.
Just the opposite, Steelers fan. They needed to find a way to make the game up, but couldn't because the commissioner is a clown. That's my only point and last comment on it. Sorry it upset some people.
I raced A1 05, SF 06, Daytona 08 and Oakland 23 might be the worst of all so I voted, yes...
I can only think of 2 reasons why Feld should cancel the race:
1) Severe lightning in the area (big safety issue).
2) Dirt Wurx can't physically build a track because the dirt is too saturated.
Other than that, line 'em up.
Right there in the fine print
The track should be completely redesigned. It's useless to build a triple jump that everyone is going to roll anyway. Instead build a cool roller section that is intended to fit the muddy conditions. The track should be built so riders can keep their momentum up. Less steep jumps, less tight corners. Let the racing go on. Not sure why anyone would think a mud track should be built the same as a dry track. Redesign it or cancel it.
No Lyme please and let’s race
Wood chips and saw dust!
Can't believe how many downvotes this comment received, I bet every single person who downvoted doesn't possess the skill to successfully complete a single lap on a dry SX track hitting the same lines as Cooper Webb
Post a reply to: Should Feld cancel Oakland SX ?
