I don't think he's the type of guy to comeback just to scratch the itch and say he did it and battle for 10th.

Let's face it, he doesn't need to be out there.
You cant quit and sit out for 5 years and then come back and run up front at the top level of the sport, not gonna happen. I think KTM is grasping at straws to get some bikes on the track and this is more of just a feel good story than a serious attempt at running up front at the nationals. Would rather see Herlings out there and glad Tony will hit a few but anyone who thinks Dungey has a chance at winning is delusional and that may include both Dungey and KTM. But then again I said Dungey would never win on a KTM so I am wrong quite a bit too.

Remember RV’s MEC comeback? I know that Dungey will be more fit than what RV were at MEC but 5 years is still a lot in racing.

Assuming hes taking this seriously (I'd have a hard time believing he isnt) I think his biggest issue is going to be that everyone else is in race shape and he isn't to start the series.

Racing is racing. He still line up against other riders every weekend. It’s hard to get that at a practice track no matter if it’s SX or MX..

People saying he wont get results are being highly disrespectful of his past achievements.

He is a multi time champ - if he races the season he will be in the top 5 / a contender.

He is not looking for an excuse to sit on the couch all summer - unlike many factory riders.

When you achieve anything once - you know the true reality of how to achieve it again.

He got 13th, that seems pretty respectable considering it was a new bike, he was 4 years retired, and it was a one off race...

Why wouldn’t they stagger the part time riders so they actually have riders on the track for more than two rounds?

I think that shows that they intend/hope one of the guys will continue to race the full series.

Don't care how he finishes, just watching him come back to race and the excitement of seeing how well he does is enough for me. Dude stays fit and rides a lot so nothing will surprise me. The only thing that kinda bums me is this seems to kinda point towards Herlings not coming over which I was really hoping for.
