I can't even see Tony's page anymore. So he either took down his profile or blocked me. Nice

Yep, I posted that Varner was ripping customers off in the IG post yesterday also.. got blocked too. No biggie, didn't follow TA anyway.

Did the guy from Texas a couple pages back make the drive to get his engines back yet?

Haha. Man, no kidding.
"Honey, I will be back in a couple days. I have to go sleep in the corner of the tuner's shop to make sure he doesn't smoke crack and get sidetracked on my motor job."
Okay. That is too funny. Thought the same thing when I saw Alessi’s message

This isn't to defend Varner - it's a more general point. Don't try to judge someone's mental health by how they look. I've gone through suicidal depression, to the point of being hospitalized, and most people had no idea because I "looked fine" (now I am fine).

That being said, I never used my mental illness as an excuse for doing shitty things. If I did something shitty, I later took responsibility, apologized, and did what I could to make it right. So no excuses for letting this shitty behavior go on for years. In this case, mental illness may not be an issue. He could just be an asshole. But you certainly can't know that just from looking at a picture of him.
Like I said let's call the POS for what he is. Hell he is mentally unstable for taking people's money and we don't need a picture to tell us that. He will screw the wrong person over eventually and come face to face with someone that is truly mentally disturbed.

I didn't either. I only went on his page and commented after seeing the Instagram post here. Not a good look for the Alessi's to prop this guy up and rave about his motors on social media. I've defended Mike quite a bit and even Tony, saying hey people can grow and change. You're promoting a guy that rips people off and steals their money. Fuck that noise

Hey there, I’m wondering if anyone in So-Cal could help me out here. I’m from Canada and I sent Varner 3 cylinders/heads a few months ago along with the money upfront to do the work (big mistake I know), and now I can’t get a hold of him and with everything going on in our world I just want my engine parts back. I’ve been trying him for weeks and can’t get a hold of him. I have gotten two or three short responses via text that states I’ll have them soon, but ‘soon’ started a couple months ago. I really don’t know what to do. Does anyone know if he’s actually around and if this is a common issue? I was told 20 day turn around on these parts and he’s honestly been a real asshole to deal with. I wish I could just go there myself and deal with it in person. Any feedback would be appreciated.
Terry not a thief, he just the king of over promise under deliver. I’m willing to bet he was working on a project bike for 2 stroke worlds and you got kicked aside.
He will do the work eventually.
I would just tell him you have a race and need them and give him a 2 week date before your race. And say these are my only way to get there.
Don’t let me down.

Not terry, have known terry 20+ years, but never had any work done by him. He more of a competitor to my business.
I oem TNT performance Engineering. Have nothing to do with Varner.
I’ve just heard plenty of complaints about barbers time tables.
I have a few against me as well. But i don’t take deposits, unless you have a one off that needs specialty parts.

He’s taking peoples money and engines without completing any promised services or returning the engines/parts.

You couldn't be more wrong. Take the time and read through the entire thread starting with page 1. Don't try and work your way through it backwards.

Some guys on here have paid him and they're still waiting to receive their stuff years later.

Years. Plural. That's unacceptable.

Taking people's money and not doing the work as promised is theft. Keeping other people's possessions and refusing to send it back is bullshit.

I went to his shop for one of the forum members who lives in Nor Cal maybe it was around mid December. Terry had his engine for 2 years and won’t return his calls or messages.

I put terry on FaceTime with the engine owner. Terry said , he’ll have it done in 2 weeks or by mid January… I said thank you, thought he’d get it done… still not done.

Not sure how you can defend that. Saw it with my own eyes.

Maybe...at least the Alessi's have an incredibly strong work ethic that Varner apparently lacks. I've watched the Alessi's dating back to 2001 at Loretta's and beyond. Their antics, even back then made it clear they were shady characters at best. I respect their work ethic and passion for the sport but their morals are seemingly out of whack. As long as I can remember there has been a dark cloud surrounding the Alessi camp. It should be no surprise to any of us they're bros with Varner.

Relax on the alessi hate speech! 90% of the industry is bros with Varner. All they did was get a motor from Varner, sucks they promoted it but it’s no different than ping or racer x or the countless others that have done it also. Not here defending Varner because I do think he’s a turd but let’s all relax a little on the Alessi’s

He's right the Brocal incest continues, while the industry continues to protect and promote him.

"See he's a great engine builder. So there's some hiccups in his service."

Simple thing is. Do not send him any work.

Call out the industry about his behavior. Trust me they don't care what you say to them

Post reviews on Google about him.

Probably more like fraud. Doing this across state lines, using US Mail etc. could all be federal crimes if enough people make a strong enough case about it.

In this crowd, people love to condemn someone as a thief, terrible, evil. Everything has to be black or white. No room for nuance and complexity.

It sounds like Varner is overwhelmed. He doesn't have the ability to build engines AND manage customers. Sounds like he falls behind. It sounds like he doesn't know how to manage time, and deal with disappointed, waiting customers. I bet he hates to admit fault, like most men. It sounds like he prioritizes his big-name customers because if he lets them down, it's worse for business than if he disappoints average-joes. It sounds like he intends to get all the work done, but can't manage it all.

If he had my engine, ignoring me, I'd be upset. Knowing all this, I'd never work with him, not because he's a demon, but because he struggles at business. I don't know him, never worked with him, and never will.

So, Alessi took down posts promoting Varner, after getting backlash? That sounds like the responsible thing to do. Is Alessi kept up on the day-to-day of Varner's backlog of work, and customer complaints? Of course not. Alessi gets engines from varner, on time and at the agreed price, so why is he worried about others. Most of you wouldn't be, either. Again. this crowd loves to demonize, and as annoying as Tony Alessi has been in the past, he's not evil like many want to believe.

Now, there's a thumbs-down button below. Mash it like your life depends on it.

XPR, Race Tech, local shops, all better options than crooks like Varner and Derek Harris.. sorry for all the honest, hard-working people that continue to get screwed by these guys.

We don't need people like that around moto, too many good people. Varner is no better than a telescam operation.

Also,, this thread made me realize that the reason the insiders of the moto industry hate vital is because they can't block people.

Someone should ask Jeff why his family continues to support Varner, he is on this forum. If Mike was there like he said he had to have seen the piles of work left unattended, yet he felt he was more important then everyone here who has been waiting for years for their stuff. Pretty selfish and unfortunate when our industry doesn’t stand up for the people who support it.
