Pretty darned impressive ride by Austin. Love him or hate him he showed flashes of who he was and potentially could be. I think he just might be a force on a 450.

note: I was off the grid all weekend so if it bothers you that I'm now just commenting too bad lol

In the main it was good he didn't push till he crashed.
But did u see his heat race? Same old forkner and having issues with guys and he was close to crashing out for the night or season.
Sx it only take 1 mistake to end your year.

I don’t think one race of him staying off the ground is enough to say he’ll be a force on 450’s.

I was pleasantly surprised to see him up front. His save in the heat race was great, and riding that close to the edge without going over it is a good skill to have. Anderson, for example, has had a ton of close calls this year but has been incredible. If forkner can learn to walk that line without crashing, he’ll be good.

That said, seeing his surgery scars in post race interviews makes me really feel for the kid. He’s had some major procedures in his abdominal cavity and that can be a lifelong debilitation, on and off the bike. Never liked his attitude, but I hope he has something to show for his bodily sacrifices by the time he retires.

With Austin, RJ, Mcadoo, and Jordon Smith all in the East, that's lots of super fast but historically sketchy riders. Every race is going to be puckering to watch.

Agreed I thought Austin rode great. It was also very nice to see the camaraderie between he McAdoo and Jett. You can tell the last two years have been humbling for him.

In the words of Big James,”Baby steps, man. Ya gotta take them little steps to get to the big ones!”

Austin gettin his starts back on point AND learning to reel it in a little…in the Main?

Shiiiiiit! I’ll take it.

I agree, he was not that far behind and although he didn't look as smooth as Jett he was able to finish strong.
Contrary to was some may think, this year may not be a Jett show.

Forkners going to be fine. I think he’s right where he was hoping to be and he’s going to make this series a battle to the last race.

Jett is super fast, but he reminds me of sexton a little, he will have speed all year but maybe a couple moments.. Austin will be up and down too I think.
This coast is soooo much more interesting than the West though!

Based on what DB said on the main event moto podcast, Jett wasn’t even pushing. Apparently he was doing just enough to keep his 3-4 second lead. Not sure how much truth there is to that but he sure did make it look easy.

One race? The guy has won a lot of races. Must be really good if he’s only ever not crashed in one race.

He is where he belongs… getting smoked by The Jett all season long… Better buckle in Forky haha
Also not very impressive and NO I don’t believe he’ll be a good 450 rider at this point.

You have to feel bad for Forkner, two crashes took away 2 titles, over a million in bonus and a big dollar 450 contract.

It must kill him to watch Sexton lead mains.

I hope he finds his mojo, for him and for Mitch.

Me too, nothing against Jett at all but I don’t think you can just write Forkner off yet. Obviously staying healthy has been an issue but it wasn’t that long ago he was battling Ferrandis for wins.

Forkner is totally underrated. He has a ton of speed and fights in every race. I think he will surprise those that don't believe in his ability to win. Great rider

Austin has good skills but he panics in clutch situations. Time will tell if he has that under control this year. I'm not a fan but I've seen him put in some heads up rides and he's definitely talented.

I like Austin. Injuries have ruined (so far) what could have been multiple championships. He has that kind of speed.

You could say the same for AC except he managed to get one title. Injuries have ruined many very fast riders.

I predict he will challenge Jett before the series is over. Who knows which one will crash first but one will.

underrated? he has the most wins and podiums inn the class. Expected to win every championship since he has gone pro and yet to achieve.
just remember Sexton is younger than Forkner and Sexton just didnt have the speed?. Sexton went pro later. Battled Forkner and yet Sexton walked away with 2 SX titles and went to the 450 class battling for wins while Forkner is still yet to get a 250 title and move up.

Great rider no doubt. but Underrated? nah. if anything the opposite.

You could also say the same thing for Forkner and Mcadoo...they know how important it is to get out of the first round healthy and with PC's history of injuries, they probably didn't want to push their luck.

I don't think so.
Jett was riding only fast enough to win the race. He could have been .3-.5 faster per lap if needed.

Forkner rode as fast as he could without making a mistake. If he could have gone faster he would have to put pressure on jett.

Mcadoo was the same. If he could have rode faster safely he would have to pass forkner and to gap jmart.

Neither forkner or mcadoo maintained a safe gap on the rider behind which make me thing the couldn't rider faster mistake free. Where jett was able to manage his gap and extended when needed.

I have nothing against the kid but all night I thought Forkner looked HORRIBLE. He looked physically weak on the bike, had horrible body positioning and suspension looked off all night. He didn't look smooth at all, so I was really surprised to see this thread. Still great job managing a 2nd and I hope he looks better next week. I went and watched his heat and the main 3x after seeing this thread just to confirm my original thoughts.
