Showing up 30 mins before a hare scramble (or whatever off-road race), racing 2 hours, and heading home after is 10 times better than being at the track for 8-10 hours for 30 mins of riding.

The night show needs less racing and more segments featuring Rutledge Wood.

Supercross is easier to watch than Motocross

It’s hard to watch four 30+2 motocross races in one sitting

Black rims make bikes look heavy and are ugly as sin.

Mc is the king
Rc got lucky beating him

I should specify, im being facetious. I am of the unpopular opinion MC is NOT the king of SX. RC is the GOAT , SX and Outdoors!

TLDR - sorry if covered already:

There is no media in the sport. It's all for click revenue companies that have to balance what they report vs. access being restricted.

Without a standardized access model that moves it away from the bro-show... we'll never have objective media.

2-stroke purists are the hipsters of the moto world.
Agreed. I've got two smokers, but find the two stroke purists insufferable

Not really that controversial... But the real beauty of 2 strokes is that they make the ordinary weekend warrior feel like a damn hero.

That's what's missing with 4 strokes - the illusion or the hero factor of being more than just 'Joe Blogs' the Plumber etc in the week - to bad-ass with 'special secret skills' even your friends didn't know about on the weekend. It isn't nearly as convincing on a 450. Ass on the back of the seat, screaming the RM 125 in 4th down a straight away makes you feel in that moment like more than you are (even if in reality you aren't going that fast)...

Today the bikes are too fast, too expensive, require too much physical conditioning from the average person playing at it on the weekends (with probably his slight beer gut and family commitments i.e most of us...), are too punishing when you crash them. And again, and most of all; the gap between the guys that want the illusion of being good and the riders that are actually good and have the time money and resources to do things properly has never felt wider. It's always been wide but now it feels it.
About the RM125 screaming in 4th: Just a little over a week ago, I raced my 2007 RM125 at “Day in the Dirt 24”. It was the 2 stroke race on Friday. In the old guy class…myself & Don Maeda, who was on a VERY TRICK & VERY NEW enzo suspended (of-course!) YZ 250, battled for the lead thru Talladega…& then he “250’d me”! Grinning

It did, in-fact, feel pretty damn good! It was entirely different and a bit more “super hero” feeling than racing any of my 4 strokes. Getting it to pull the hills perfectly required making it sing a very “high note”; and, that truly is it’s own kind of magic.

On top of all of that…

JG33 raced that race on a YZ250 and shredded Glen Helen most Heroically! I’ve seen Josh f’ing DESTROY that place on just about every brand of Factory Bike…from Thursday afternoons to CRUSHING THE WORLD @ GPs….but…on that YZ250? He was even more heroic than the kid I remember on that CRF250 or the seasoned veteran that showed The World “how to get around Glen Helen”.
It was THAT spectacular.

So, to add to your controversial position, I’ll simply say that…
“You are Factually Correct, sir!”

Most vet guys would be just as fast and might have more fun with a regular 250F instead of a factory edition 450.
450s are not too fast or powerful.

I thought it was interesting when two strokes took over from four strokes in the 70s.

I thought it was interesting when four strokes took over from two strokes in the 2000s.

Reduce the displacement of four strokes until parity is reached with two strokes.

Lappers should be black flagged.

I am a fan of the Deegan’s.

Prefer the sound of a 4stroke.

my 'controversial opinion' is Dirtbikers don't appreciate how good they have got it from a media perspective.

I’ll start

I think 4 strokes sound better than 2 strokes (especially your average rider on a 2 stroke).
I also think the low maintenance argument in favor of a 2 stroke is highly overrated and not very valid these days for an average speed rider.
Unpopular opinion? KTMs need a better looking front fender.

Former pros should not be allowed to race LL except in their own separate class. I mean pro on any level. Once a pro always a pro.

E-bikes are coming, there will be a class or classes for them.
They could be all we are racing in the next 10-20 years.

Stiff boots are the reason knee injuries, particularly ACL injuries, have been so common in the modern era. The same thing happened to skiing when the leather Nordic style ski boots were replaced by the rigid shell modern alpine boots. Knee injuries were uncommon, but are now a cost of doing business for any long time skier.

The recent knee brace debate made it clear that knee safety and protection is a salient topic for riders in the lowly vet C ranks all the way to the elite levels of the sport, and no one has a clear understanding of the benefits or negatives of prophylactic knee bracing. All the while, riders are binding the entire structure of the foot and ankle into a makeshift walking cast (I’m looking squarely at you, tech 10). Furthermore, most ACL injuries do not involve any direct impact to the knee itself but rather the lower leg striking an object or getting stuck in an unnatural position in the ground. Knee injuries start at the foot, and binding the foot has shown to translate more energy to the knee in studies of other sports (I believe University of Vermont keeps a specific database on knee injuries in skiing and the causal relationship is clear), but here we are continuing to stiffen, overbuild and overweigh our boots while scratching our heads about why our knees are failing us.

Possibly but it’s mostly due to folks lack of mobility and lack of strength at end range of motion. The majority has been taught that the knee never goes ahead of the toe and there’s no need to go below parallel. More weight training and less cycling.

Bosu ball belongs in the trash with the indo board.
It’s called the “phantom foot” phenomenon, where the tail of the ski, which acts like an alternate (or “phantom”) foot, combined with the stiff back of a ski boot, functions as a lever to apply a singular blend of twisting and bending weight loads to the knee. The centrally located anterior cruciate ligament, which connects the femur and tibia bones and helps stabilize the knee, can’t handle the stress.

This isn’t a common occurrence in moto. I get that the force has to go somewhere, and stiff boots transfer more force, though.

that the look and design of the plastics is as important as the motor and chassis, and that’s it’s mostly been on the wrong track for 20 years. and that the sport should proactively separate its image from nascar and monster trucks to align more with surfing, snowboarding, and cycling.

And RC repaid him by working him in the sand, in Belgium, with a blown out ACL, on an anemic CR250 (vs Evert’s 450)….

But like the thread title, that is a controversial take bro!
