It seemed like the Redbud maybe moved away from ruttcross this year. It wasn’t as bad as previous years. Doesn’t the FIM/MXGP crew handle the prep of the track for MXON or am I remembering that wrong?

No doubt the Red Bud 2022 deal was brokered before team USA pulled out of this year’s event.

Grabbed my son & took a last minute redeye to O'Hare, pulled into the track at dawn, met up with friends in Lot B, slept in my rental car for two days, abandoned rental car in Lot B due to mud (buy the insurance), got home by 9am Monday and went straight to work.
Yes I will do that again next year.
I plan on sending my 2009 AWD Lexus rx350 just like I did my 2003 Nissan pathfinder through the parking lot, Wide the fuck open and sideways haha. Hopefully Ill have some people cheering me on again. I was 4/4 for getting in and out without getting stuck.

Driving through deep snow in Canada has its perks, translates great to mud.

Staying in South Bend at the hotels were pretty clutch. Not a lot of wasted time and a bunch of places for beer, food, supplies etc. Met a great group of dudes from the Netherlands and France and a few other countries in that one hotel.

Hoping for a dry weekend though!!

Nothing against RedBud, great track.

But it seems YouthStream/Infront keep phishing in the same pond the last years. Ernée, Matterley Basin, RedBud,... the same locations every other year. In a normal year this year it would've been at Maggiora again. And if its not one of these locations, it's on man-made tracks like Assen or Franciacorta.

I'd like some other venues aswell, like they did before. Australia, Spain, Sweden, Canada,... all have great tracks and facilities that are big enough to host it.

De - we've had the 1 MXdN. 1992, at Manjimup, Western Australia.

That, was fantastic.

I think it was back at the last Matterley MXdN, that it was said a promoter from OZ had come with the proposal for another MXdN in Western Australia.

It was going to be held at an effing Trotting Track facility, by the Swann River.

It would be an utter travesty to be held in such a venue, something we'd never, ever live down. It would rank as the absolute worst MXdN track / event there ever could be. I for one, truly hope that proposal is dead and buried.

No, it does not! (in my very personal opinion) It seems like - since I of course never have ridden there - it is deceiving dirt that caters to the proficient rider with great throttle control.

Redbud might have great dirt, traction-wise, but it surely tend to become “rutt-o-cross”. I am personally not a super-fan of that.
Yes, it does! Lol I’ve ridden there hundreds of times. It’s slick and dry and honestly not all that fun. Just because it looks pretty doesn’t mean shit

I’m a bit biased because this is my home track in Michigan and I race there pretty regularly, but I challenge you to name a track as iconic and historic as RedBud who has the infrastructure and experience to hold an event on the MXdN scale.
Yes, Millville, ‘Dilla, Washougal, Budds, High Point are all great and storied TRACKS, but the laundry list of prerequisites the FIM have to hold the MXdN (on top of the promoter fee) make it a pipe dream for most facilities to host the event.
RedBud has
A.) A phenomenal, world-renowned track that’s already been reshaped to host the MXdN (god, I hate that new start configuration..)
B.) The capacity to facilitate the massive turnout of fans/race teams, and nearby international airport with local lodging and amenities.
C.) The knowledge from Tim and Amy of the in’s and out’s of orchestrating an event like this
D.) The biggest factor: The CAPITAL to host the event without virtually going belly-up like Budds Creek almost did after ‘07.

Even though RedBud is my home track, I wouldn’t mind seeing the event held somewhere else (especially ‘Dilla), it has to make sense Geographically, financially, and economically for a venue to host the MXdN.

I attended in 2018 and will attend again in 2022 in the off chance that it isn't a mud race. Too bad Glen Helen could not have held it. Might be an excellent race track when it doesn't rain but the Redbud track sucked for MXDN in 18.

Part of my dislike for this race is the simple politics. Tomac has turned it down before but was all over it for Red Bud. I want guys that are hungry and want to attend the event to win. I went to Red Bud in 2018 and yes the weather was miserable. But I would rather go watch a national where 15-20 guys in each class are going for it. Maybe I will change my mind in 2022 depending on who is chosen to race. But Tomac in my opinion can be left off the team because of his history.

Yes I will do that again next year.
So you actually left your rental car in a field and made your own way out? What did you tell the rental company happened to their car and what the heck happened to the car?!

Let’s just say Glen Helen will never get a MXoN as long as MX Sports is involved. No hatred just sick of the politics from all sides. The world knows Glen Helen is the best place for it.
Glen Helen will survive it always does.

Plenty have turned it down before him and after him, wont be the last. Were you upset at kroc musquin ferrnadis, but kroc raced red bud. Cant pick and choose, Tomac has raced mxon out of the usa before. Plenty mxgp guys turned it down this year, febvre, gajser. Etc.

You just named guys that are not American. And that's not the only reason I will most likely not attend in 2022. I'm just not a huge fan of 3 riders from the USA. Give me a outdoor where I can watch 15 in each class.

Point is they turned it down for their own reasons. Webb, turned down assen, kroc marv, ferrandis, wilson turned it down. People remember what they want. I m like you , i want riders going that want to go, but i m not stomp my feet like a little kid cause they dont do what i want. Their life their choices.

It’s not the same. Not even close. Those guys are fighting for a championship and or banged up. The fact that Herlings and Cairoli still raced is absolutely unbelievable. They clearly have more pride than the most. I don’t even understand how anyone could even argue anything different. Herlings strikes me as the kind of guy who would tell his boss to F off if he told him he can’t go. I understand the riders can’t just pack up and go but someone like Eli has a lot of pull. If he wanted to race the event there is absolutely no doubt in my mind he could’ve made it happen.

But in the end we can agree to disagree. Some of us here feel very strongly about riders representing our country when they’re able to and some don’t. It is kind of funny how most people here from other countries seem to have more pride than people from the USA.

Yep, def kudos to herlings and ac222,. But. When people got pissed kawy didnt send ac or tomac. It was their decision, they pay the bills and were prepping for a contracted event, mec, sx title. Kroc musquin, ferrandis have enough star power if they really wanted to go also.
