Thats wild about the number 658. A friend of mine had a bad crash that resulted in his death early in 2010. So wild to think that number hasn't been used since he was still alive. It wasn't the same person that ran it as a Pro.

The 1st Motocross I ever attended. April 1971, Corvallis Montana. Took pictures with my mom's Kodak Instamatic. Edit: I will add, as soon as I got to this race, and we walked around the pits, I was hooked and I knew I wanted to race motocross eventually. But it took a few more years to get there.

Me and another (ancient) moto-bro are curators of this repository of digitized old school videos and imagery. We have digitized and published hundreds of stills, home movies and stories contributed by members of the facebook group we run: https://www.facebook.com/groups/docriddlemotocrossmediarchive which began when we discovered that the father of the late Tim Riddle (legendary DFW mxer) had shot hours and hours of home movies around Texas and Louisiana following Tim in the early to mid 1970s. We started a GoFundme to cover the costs of digitizing which closed within an hour of publishing it. After a time we started getting contributions...

Here is a pic of me in a nesc 100 cc novice class race at Pepperell, MA. in 78' Then a little later that year at Southwick in the 100 cc Amatuer class. I think you had to have a zero in front of your number or the letter j after your number in the 100 cc novice and amatuer class in nesc back in the late 70's.

Whoever retouched these photos did an amazing job. Feels like you're standing there.

To me this is pinnacle MC, that Yamaha was drool worthy and No Fear was pumping out the best stuff in the game. Still would rock it to this day if they made it, such great colors across the board.

I think the 8 looks great. 1st mx bike had 18 on it I bought it on my birthday 11-18-89 , 87 cr125. Then 118 then 531 the time I was born. I ran the 8 on my 91 cr250 since I was told I looked similar on the bike as JMB to freak people. Recent yrs 532 my 1st minute alive . 532 divided by 2 , 3 times is 66.5 , born in 66. Surgeon today said 6-18 months for rotar cuff surgery, ouch. 89 cr125 dream bike

I miss the days of riders being assigned a number based upon points earned. At the same time...career numbers are pretty cool and very marketable for riders, so I get that. But single digit numbers for 250 class riders is bogus!
