A jersey is protection? From what, the sun?
Why do some of my jerseys have extra padding in the elbows? Do you think that has prevented “road rash”?

Anyways, you tell me, why do all racers wear long sleeve jerseys?

Hey Jason, how ya been?

The word you're searching for is "hypocrite"

I and everyone wishes him well, no one wishes him harm or ill health, but at the same time, if you're preaching one thing and doing another, don't people have to right to call it out?

If not now, when, after everyone forgets?

No one wishes him bad, but his words does influence others.
Yes, nailed it. Hypocrite is the better word although there is an element of irony going on here.

I never wished Ryno ill will and certainly wish him well but, as you said, it deserves a call out. Especially when you stand so tall on your opinion and put it out there as if it is fact with such a large audience. My rule of thumb on this is if you got the balls to put yourself out there like he does then you gotta have the balls to deal with the consequences (being called out, not getting hurt).

Mostly because of 2 things:

1) Stylishness

2) Rules that were more enforced when the style changed to start cutting off the sleeves of said jerseys.........

I think he's a total nut, and yes there is some OBVIOUS irony in him getting hurt like this. Also the irony after his unhinged rant after the guy died at Glen Helen.

BUT I also hope me makes a full recovery, and gets to do whatever he wants after he recovers. His opinions are just that...HIS opinions. Anyone who listens to what he says as gospel was already leaning that way anyway.
100% agree, It seems everyone can have an opinion except for Ryno according to some in this thread.

And now he is called a Hypocrite by some here, get a grip people. Ah keyboard warriors are in full force in this thread.

Can't have an opinion about his opinion?

Why?

Isn't a hypocrite someone who says not to do something, while doing it themselves?

How does ryno saying not to wear a neck brace, while not wearing a neck brace make him a hypocrite?

It's ironic that the most vocal guy against a neck brace, now has a broken neck (not that there is any evidence to prove that a neck brace would have prevented his injuries, rather than made them worse)...but I fail to see the hypocrisy in it?

or are you talking about the modern medicine stuff? if so, I can see the hypocrisy there...to an extent.

Being against the vaccine and being against being forced to get the vaccine are two totally different things. Most people aren’t against the vaccine. Most just wanna be able to choose whether or not they get it.

They expect him to reject the medical brace while laying in the hospital with a broken neck because he thinks the sports ones do more harm than good. They expect him to refuse treatment for his broken neck because he does not agree with all modern medicine/science.

Yeah, it’s a stretch. I don’t remember him ever saying that you should not stabilize or repair a broken neck. people just love to be dicks.

This. I don’t recall him ever saying getting a broken neck fixed is bad. I also don’t ever recall him saying if you don’t wear a neck brace you’ll never break your neck. He doesn’t think neck braces are good safety equipment. That’s his opinion and that should be fine. It doesn’t mean he shouldn’t get treated for an injury because he has an opinion about a product.

Nailed it.

Only one viewpoint is acceptable.
Dehumanize those who question.

The true test of empathy is the ability to show it to those who don’t deserve it. Many people like to think of themselves as kind and loving while expressing hatred towards those with a different world view. Hate is a disease no matter which way it’s directed or how righteous it seems. A natural feeling, sure, but long-term it only causes harm.

Jerseys haven’t had elbow pads since 2005. And we wear them because we all like to dress up in our Power Ranger outfits when we go ride. A thin poly jersey ain’t doing shit if you hit a hay bale. You can’t argue that

I remember 5 or 6 yrs. ago he had a big one and thought he was paralyzed, and swore he would never ride again. Now another close one. Makes you wonder.
Im fused t1-t6. I havent rode since. I understand the desire but i think im a professional spectator now. As ive posted before the surgeons said the brace saved me from crushing everything.

Doesn't agree with current medical science but current medical science is saving his ass. I wonder if he'll change his opinion on such matters now?

This^^^^ is the point people are trying to make. Ryno gets on his little soap box rants and calls people all kinds of shit. He’s called vaxxers all kinds of weak, pussy, sheep etc. but now laying on the table I’d bet my last dollar that he didn’t have the balls then to call a vaxxed dr, nurse, caretaker etc anything but sir, ma’am while they put him back together. That’s the irony and hypocrisy that people are trying highlight.

There is an old saying that goes something like: never step on anyone’s toes today because they may be connected to the ass you have to kiss tomorrow!

I want to jump on this bandwagon of zingers from people older than dirt.

If you cant say anything good, don't say anything?

Don't play ball in the house?

Get well Ryno!
It's always a pleasure watching you race, but for all of us, there's a time to call it a day. Take care of yourself.

Ryno is abrasive and he doesn't mind hurting your feelings
Ryno shares a contrary opinion about some safety gear

- also -

Ryno is an incredibly successful motocross legend
Ryno gives away free, more succinct, detailed advice and first hand knowledge than most $$$ ride schools

Today, I saw this man humble himself to tears on an Instagram post.

I'm having a hard time finding a reason to not love the guy.

Best of Luck In surgery and getting healed up Ryno. I hope you get a Great surgeon there is a big difference in them. It’s a good idea to tell your surgeon that you need him locked in to a deep channel of concentration and to use all the skill he has. 100% of what he has, treat it as the Olympics of back surgery. Just give it all you got. I had that talk with my back surgeon, he had no confidence and just talked about getting the disability papers together and the high risk of being paralyzed. Don’t worry you won’t get my surgeon he quit shortly after me and went to law school. Ryno flew from Maui to the race , there’s a video of him at the dream race. Rode that 02 cr125 hard enough to get 2 flats and ripped the whoops on a 79 cr125. So get healed up and get traveling again your missing out on the fun. Like today in Florida 20 people waiting in line at truck stop. I went to the front there yelling . I just said I don’t see no thin red line besides that this is my time to fly- vh lyrics. Haha I told them I promise the next line I,m in I,ll go to the back and let you in front of me.

I follow Rhino and hate about half of what he says, but I look past it as his opinion. I don’t think there is disagreement that helmets saves lives and am hopeful that the same safety data for neck braces will eventually be recognized and not a lightning rod of name calling debate.

Many surgeons are clueless and not very good. They protect the bad ones, keeping them in business and the whole medical industry is about as fucked up as you can get.
Theirs plenty of stiffs like you. We need more people Like Ryno questioning this shit.
Dont like what he says, dont listen or you can accomplish what he has In life, then get as many followers as him, and preach all you want

Surgeons are similar to carpenters, rough framers to finish carpenters. You want a finish carpenter. Different hospitals share back surgeons, just hope you don’t get the 3rd string guy from a hospital you would never go to. Or you get the rush job guy that packs his schedule, so he can make 2.3 million a yr. hospitals keep bad surgeons so you have to get 3 to 7 back surgeries.

All the Hate and Luurve for Ryno? - well, he puts himself out there, he'll get both.

But bloody hell Blink , he's now got fusions / hardware in his C, and T areas of the spine. There's just the L to go (besides the Sacrum and Coccyx) - I sure hope he doesn't hurt that section next.

My wife is a "general practitioner" and I would love to hear where we can sign up for these "kickbacks" people are always telling me about.
She does have meetings with pharmaceutical reps, and some medicines do cost her practice more versus using other medicines. The only kickbacks I can see us getting are free lunches...We haven't gotten gifts, vacations, etc..
Depending on what school you go to, "alternative medicine" makes up a decent part of schooling. My wife tries her best to NOT prescribe medicine. The majority of her larger patients will be told to lose weight and exercise before giving medicine for sore knees/back etc. due to their weight. High blood pressure and other things are another discussion.

I'm just a single guy, with a single reference point. I hang out with her and all her np/doctor friends and 99% of them share similar backgrounds/experiences. Is there some guy out there over-prescribing? I guarantee it. But I still believe the majority care. At least I hope!

Good points.

My personal experience has been better, but I found a good doctor who advocates for health in lieu of medication.

The flip side is that I was once lectured on the dangers of motocross by a doctor who smelled of cigarettes and had a smoker’s cough….

She can sign up with Big Pharma I've seen it all firsthand, referrals from everyone that sends people to her,
weekends in France, Greek Isles blah blah blah that and dentistry is the biggest network of theft there is.

Then we can talk Law.

Your an idiot,ya he’s against the vaccine, but what does that have to do with his surgeons that fixed his back? He’s talking about a shot which hasent even started the 3rd trail of testing yet so ya anyone can be skeptical. The doctors are their to fix his back, get him on two feet and hopefully make a full recovery. I don’t take any meds unless I have to. How does anyone know if he took anything or he didn’t? And if he did you can’t blame him for the surgery he had,I know I would have if the pain is off the chart, you just have to know to get your ass off them before you come addicted.
