Really can’t believe how the year is going for him. I’m not sure he was even mentioned once in the broadcast last week.

Is he injured? Something else?

He’s supposed to be a contender. Can’t remember the last time someone who was supposed to really be the top of the class, come out so underwhelming to start things off.

Can he right the ship? Or is this the beginning of the end for him? Not trying to be harsh. Just wondering what you all think.

Looked better this weekend. He really hasn't raced outdoors since 2018

As much as I don't really like the ManChild, give him time, he's been through a lot. He's getting better each week.

probably what he needs is to be off the radar and not in the spotlight for once. he has been the center of attention his whole life. after the bad luck he has had. this time to just get through the season healthy and not be in the media every week is probably what he needs.

Personally i reckon he needs a change in Team and manufacture.

Just shows how tough this sport is. He has all the elements, but took some really tough hits. I was never a huge fan, but I'd like to see him turn it around.

Colt Was the Supercross champ but what is he doing outdoors? Don’t think we should write this kid off just yet considering his injuries and such.

I would say he is taking the conservative approach. We all know he has the speed and talent. Time will tell.

If ever there was a need for a rebuilding year for AF, I guess this would be it.

I don’t think so. Great talent but I think his ship has sailed. Has he ever completed an entire season in his entire career? And he’s in year 5 or 6 now right?

He’s fast becoming in danger of being one of those kids who was fast as fuck as an amateur, won everything, is destined for great things,…..then turns pro, gets a good ride, has some fast flashy races, then some injuries, doesn’t deliver, loses the top ride, goes to a lesser team and then for one reason or another, slowly fades away.

There’s been heaps of examples of this over the years and we probably all know a few personally. Hope that’s not the case here, but it’s certainly trending that way.

Have you ever heard the tale of Adam Cianciarulo?

Go Look at his 2018 outdoor results. He’s doing the same thing.. Then he had 2 years off.
Probably need this year and next of building without injury before we see wins

He’s basically an outdoor rookie (kinda sorta) after missing 2 full outdoor seasons. He’ll be fine. I would like to see him stay healthy all season then come out swinging in 2022......I’m not the one paying him though lol

Pretty easy to armchair quarterback for these guys whose racing experience is battling their buddy on his Yamaha Blaster in the local sand pit. Anyone who has raced more than a couple times can understand what Austin has been through. Seems like he's trending forward. Not sure what you can really expect from someone who hasn't been out there for a couple years. I think he's doing just fine.

He'll end his career a 250sx championship and a couple 450 sx wins. Outdoors, who knows.

He’s rebuilding, nothing wrong with that and it is necessary. I do believe a change could be good. But it seems that Kawi still believes in him and it’s a smart move to stay.

But, I’m sure someone’s gonna come along, not get it, not laugh and then rant at’cha.
I’m still laughing.

I would think finishing all 24 motos without ending up in the operating room would be a reasonably successful series for him. Something he hasn't done for any series since 2018, I believe.

Get a full season in, and then he could be in a good position for 2022.

It's a rebuilding year. Finishing the series is a goal for him. Just like AC 3-4 years ago

This is a building sport, and each time you get injured you're starting at the foundation again. You can't build into what you want to be, or what other people want you to be, if you keep getting injured. Injuries often affect a racers life-long building goals...er career. Simple as that.

I love seeing threads like these. A guy doesn't win a title or hasn't won enough titles and off to pasture lol. There's a lot of great riders who haven't won a title. Give the kid a break, he's coming off a major injury. I don't care for the kid but it is what it is. If he wins, great, if not who cares. There's a lot of kids who are supposed to be the next big thing and it doesn't work out. They are all better than most of us will ever be on a motorcycle. Gotta love this pile on/cancel culture mentality.

The MX business is far harsher than Vitards are.
You'd better deliver, and quick.

Well stated.... injuries effect confidence also, and like all sports, confidence is huge part of your success. AC9 has done a great job rebuilding himself, hopefully Forkner can do the same....

Forker needs to keep doing what he has been doing--staying off the ground. It's hard to sit out this many races, have this many injuries, some of them very serious, and be on pace for 30+2 twice. I hope he just finishes out the season slowly building. I imagine this is a bit of an ego check for him, which is probably a good thing.
