I have no problems with the penalties but if you have that many red cross/red light jumping violations there is something systemic going on and it should be looked at internally to understand why.

Chuckie108 is spot on. CMC Golden States were as big as a National back then, it was crazy how many entries there would be in the opening rounds of the series. Both tracks would be packed all day. Here's some history: Originally opened in the 70's as Arroyo Cycle Park in the same location as the Vet/REM/Arroyo track is at now. I believe it only ran for a few years. Then at some point, Bud gets the lease in the 80's and opens a sand drag strip which was located where it says "Glen Helen Raceway" on brocster's map above. A couple years ago when I took my son to Mammoth for the first time, I was happy to see that they were still handing out main event pins when I was pushing his bike up to the gate for the finals. He may not remember the details of his mid 20s finish in the but got that pin and a few he’s collected since hanging on his wall. I still have a few of mine somewhere.

Pretty cool! For the record, those are "Finisher Pins". Generally, you had to make the finish to get one. Do 80 miles of desert on a '77 YZ400 and you won't call it a participation trophy.

With Kenny's win I can't help but think of our friend ocscottie. I don't think there was a bigger Ken Roczen fan than ocscottie and he's gotta be up there in heaven having a Red Bull in celebration. I myself am so happy that Kenny brought home this championship. Sad for Hunter as they're both class acts but I have cheered for Kenny since he first came over and the dude was basically written off after his crash and to win this championship on what a lot of people called a dinosaur is remarkable Congrats Champ!!
