Didn't Stewart, Roczen, Anderson all win premiere-level championships with him? I can't imagine what more you could want there...

IF I remember correctly, they all won one championship and then left.

Here is what Roczen said:

How many combined Championships do those guys have after they left? Is it greater than one per dude?

I could be wrong, but Aldon baker seems to have the most success with the short, stout, rider:

Carmichael
Villopoto
Webb
Osbourne

taller or skinnier racers who have left or who are not breaking out -

Stewart
Cianciarulo
Roczen
Anderson
Musquin
Hampshire

the only rider who is a taller guy and did really well was Ryan Dungey. I remember Roczen saying he was so tired and weak during training that his legs were shaking. Is the extreme diet while on Baker's program too much for some riders to handle?

or are the successful racers under his program so mentally strong that they can handle anything Baker dishes out?

The point is nothing, it was just interesting to me that the shorter, thicker guys do better there.
Did you just say Stew was tall and skinny?

Stewart had a perfect season in '08 and a supercross title in '09 with Aldon, then never won a title again. To be fair, though, I don't think leaving Aldon is why he didn't win another.

Aldon is notorious for giving guys the diet, training, and structure recipe needed to be in the elite group.

Aldon is also notorious for burning guys out and making their lives miserable.

I think the re-occurring theme here is that you can’t have a long career running Aldon’s program while doing 17 rounds of SX and 12 rounds of MX with no major breaks in between. I think they are smart to pay Aldon the money, learn his training system for a couple years, and then break away and do their own program to get some happiness back and enjoy riding/racing. You saw it with Roczen, Anderson, Villopoto, etc. I think Webb is a different breed and he will be disciplined enough to make it work on his own and will win a few more championships without Aldon before he retires.

So what y’all are sayin is there’s potential for a STEW comeback if KTM doesn’t renew and other brands can join the facility.

I don’t like that leaving Baker news. But if anyone could pull it off Webb could.

What if Webb’s going back the swanny and Webb was the one getting AP to come over to ktm and star Yamaha(even tho they have a 450 program) is a little bit of a feeder to 450 KTM.

Sounds like there are a lot of balls in the air with Baker's retainer deal expiring, Webb changing agent/manager, and leaving Bakers. Not sure if we will see Baker have another deal with a manufacturer, or if KTM will decide to save the money and let the riders pick their own spots?

As to Baker himself, he's pretty damn successful but it hasn't always worked out for every rider. Weimer struggled with him, Baggett did not last too long, and of course we have the stories of Ken and AC. Roczen left very bitter, but he selectively forgets that he won a 450 outdoor title in his rookie year with Aldon. And pretty sure Aldon didn't make him jump the triple in Oakland after contact with Reed that started his slide out of the 2015 SX title. Aldon's success with RC, James, RV, Dungey, Webb, Anderson and Zacho means that for better or worse he is the most successful trainer over the past 15 years by quite a margin.

Right now his ultimate challenge is RJ Hampshire. The guy has the speed to win the outdoor 250 title, but can Aldon unlock any form of consistency? RJ on a Husky is the same as RJ on a Honda so far IMO.

The star team trainer. Webb left Bakers I think he could be going back to Gareth Swanepoel because he knows them and if comfortable there. Maybe Webb helped get plessinger to seal the deal with KTM. Then with Webb now AP going to the factory ktm 450 team both coming from star and the whole barcia thrasher trade could the star team work with the ktm team to be a little bit of a feeder like star takes amateurs and 250’s them they go to the KTM 450 factory team. It’s a long long long shot but I think it’s a crazy idea.

From what I understand and have read. MM25 is paying roughly 300k a year. It makes sense if your Webb. Just like riders before him, he understands the schedule, workout regimen, and has a great idea about his body and how it feels in specific areas snd blocks.

Save the money rinse and repeat

What I remember reading is that Webb thought he was training hard until he went to Baker. He learned that he wasn't and picked up his game. Now, does Webb have the ability to maintain the higher level of intensity on his own?

As someone else mentioned, many time you need someone to push you on those days where you can't do it on your own to the level needed...

He was training fine, his on the bike training lacked. That was the advantage of Aldons program, you do full races 3 times a week with other factory guys.

Now, everyone does it.

Aldon’s exclusivity with KTM expires this year. Possibly a part of it? Would seem strange as KTM has a great east coast base for testing there.

Yes and no.

I don't know Webb, but maybe he prefers being in California over Florida? Maybe he thinks that with the knowledge he acquired with Baker that he has the missing pieces he previously needed?

Going back to Swanny will allow him to continue training in his preferred environment with someone he has experience with that will keep him accountable.

I really don't know.

Anderson left Baker and he hasn't really been the same. Not saying that'll be the case for Webb. Only time will tell.
