Sure, he can ride it and get a feel, but he's certainly going to feel less comfortable on it than his KXF- If he's isn't, then the Kawi team are doing something wrong!
A rider would be more interested in the capabilities of the team and what can be done IF & WHEN he needs it. A 'feel' amongst the team he will be working with is equally as important.
But as for comfort on a new bike, he won't have it yet, but as long as he has confidence in the team to make it work, he will be satisfied enough to sign.
Just think when Kawi introduced the last iteration of the 450- how long did it take him to work that one out?? And that would've been a closer platform to his old KXF than the YZF is now.
Again, remember I said this. Thank me later.

They typically do that at this time of year to clear out remaining stock b4 the new model year bikes arrive.
However the deal is usually across the entire yz and yzf range.
Possibly only have some yz 250's left...
Asked my dealer a few weeks ago if Yamaha has any yz 125's left , he said no, but he is expecting availability in June..
That seems early for a new model to land, it says to me that the 2022 yz two strokes will be available in Australia some time in June and probably quite some time b4 the 4 strokes land.
It says to me that the 22's are most likely gonna be BNG updates.

There is no reason to expect any YZ model release or announcement tomorrow.
It does seem strange though to be expecting a new shipment of 21"s this late in the model year and right at the time when they are doing the runout finance deal on the 250...who knows? Maybe thy just have very high demand for the 125 globally and decided to do another production run...that could be the reason..
I know arpund here the Yamaha's are selling big time...every weekend I see brand new ones out at the local track the two strokes generally and particularly the 125are having a noticeable resurgence in popularity around my neck of the woods..
