Anyone else have this issue of people selling old used high hour bikes for insane prices?

Thats fucking ridiculous. “Taking advantage of the market rn” give me a break. Looks like the bike was ridden plenty at the sand dunes too.

For what it's worth, the used market is pretty ridiculous. A local KTM dealership here in the Bay Area offered me $6.2k for my wife's 18-hour 250 SX-F with the intention of selling it north of $7k.

Yeah that’s still a lot cheaper than Utah prices and some of our dealers just rip people off trading in like everywhere else.

Used bikes, boats, trucks, toy haulers, kayaks... heck, anything outdoors related is stupid prices in California right now. Wouldn't call it gouging per se, just what the market will bear with such unusually high demand. I have seen signs of some of the really stupid high priced bikes sitting... so that's a good sign of some normalcy hopefully returning some time soon.

Then again, you don't get gouged if you don't buy and just wait.

Only lost $200 selling my 2016 Yz250f after having it for four years. It's a seller's market. Cleaned up on our California house too. Mwahaha

Utah is absolutely insane on new/used bikes. I always have to go to Idaho/Wyoming to get a new bike.

I bought a 2019 F350 Lariat diesel in April 2019 for 63,500.. but the MSRP on the window sticker was 74k. I've put 28k miles on it, and the dealer called me the other day saying they would offer me 68k on a trade.

LET THAT SINK IN....

The dealer I bought it from offered me 5k more than I paid for it new.. on trade! He said I should list it for 71k privately.

I'm getting ready to list a bike. Is it unrealistic to ask 7500-8K for the following? Picture below - it's not a current picture at work! It's spotless after every ride. Just curious what's realistic / fair - I'm not out to rip anyone off, but obviously I'd like to get what I can when I post it.

2020 CRF250r - 20.5 hours
Tokyo mods remapped ECU
Tokyo mods manual timing chain tensioner
Factory Connection Re-valve and Springs for 175-185 B rider
Rekluse manual torque drive clutch - with rekluse basket (4 hours)
Yoshimura RS-9 exhaust (also 4 hours)
Twin Air - air filters
RecMX oil filter cap
ARC RC8 perch and lever
ARC Brake lever
Works Connection Radiator Braces
Works Connection Engine Plugs
Works Connection Hour Meter
Twisted Development spark plug holder
Gieco Honda Case Saver (I think TM makes them)
Carbon fiber gas tank cover
Throttle Jockey seat cover / graphics - 1998 retro.
Chain / Sprockets (4 hours)

Cheaper to buy new right now. Although I heard of a Ford dealer in Seattle selling raptors for $10-20k over MSRP and they can’t keep them on the floor.

Same with clapped bikes here. Motosport was selling a beat 2004 YZ250 For like 6k or some shit

There has been so much money injected into the system that just about everything has gone up to crazy prices. Vehicles, motorcycles, atvs, utvs, campers, boats, land, houses, jewelry, lumber, even food. Inflation is raging... The dollar is losing value at an alarming rate.

This last year has been the first time in the 30 some years I've been riding that I have sold bikes for the same and more than I paid for them. I used to figure $500-1000 loss per year on a bike, but now ride for free...until you try to find a replacement....

Try importing Skylines... 3 years ago I could get a gtr v spec. Landed to my door for under $30k. Now, i cant pull one out of auction for under $35k. Want an R34? 2 years ago, $50-75k depending on spec. Now? Nothing under $100k. V spec2? $150k, v spec nur spec? $275-325k. Just at auction...

Used bikes are not bottled water and ice after a hurricane.

It isn't "gouging" if you sell a non-essential item for the market value.

No different than selling rare baseball cards.

I just sold a 1993 Suzuki RMX for $2,600.

I thought it would be a fun Dez bike, but it was clear to me it was meant for the woods.

I was meeting some buddies up at Juniper Dunes in WA state, and needed a bike, and there was nothing local, so I started looking for bikes that were available on my path to WA. There was a sweet KTM for sale in Walla Walla, so I set a meeting up.

2008 KTM 450 XCR-W with a Scott’s stabilizer, asking $4,200.

Checked it out, liked what I saw, and as I was saying “sold”, he dropped the price down to $3,800 on me.

Ok. Double-sold!

Got lucky on that one.

I bought my Honda Ridgeline last year for 28500. I just traded it in with 10k miles for 28000, after it was an an accident and had a subpar repair job done to it. The used market everything is insane.
