I used to deal with him when he was first getting started with Ride and he's ALWAYS been like that… very condescending and arrogant. Ive never really liked him and Don was 100% right… .Adrian drilled THREE holes in that frame bec he missed the mark, he failed to mention that.

Wait your saying the engineer made a mistake?? I’m not a fan of swap blowing him out on his socials however the fact he refused to admit he should have at least asked before fitting the damper is very telling of the type of person he is.

Don telling people to weld a bung on is terrible advice. 3 little holes wont make a feck of a difference. Yes he should have asked Don first tho . Don blowing hit out on social media 3 years later is the lamest thing i ve heard .

I'm with Peely, I had to listen at this point...

What's with all the referencing to engineering while I didn't hear any of that in practice? This Adrian guy comes off like a hack.

1) Why not just give the apology? He clearly did the wrong thing, who cares if it was owned by Swap, Yamaha Motor Corp or Nancy Pelosi.

2) Admits to changing the suspension settings but can't set it back to a baseline?

3) Says "want to say my piece and back it up with facts" but then doesn't do any of that.

At some point, you have to acknowledge you made a mistake. 3 years ago would have been ideal, but let’s see if half assing one on pulp pays off. Lol.

A phrase holds true for that segment.....“better to remain silent and be thought a fool than open your mouth and remove all doubt”

Both of them proved the later.

Hmmm, looks like 3 holes intentional (back then). I did get the impression from Donn that he drilled 3 times as if not getting the first 2 right.

I don't know man... Maybe it's just me, but I didn't see anything that was that big of a deal with that.

I really don't see an issue with this method. Call me crazy. I'd install that stabilizer in a heartbeat if I felt like I needed one.

after listening to them argue, insult, and point fingers here's what i came away with.

1. Don was being a dick on social media and at the track AFTER the review was put out. the review itself really isn't that damning.

2. who borrows a test bike to install parts and A changes the suspension but doesn't put it back and B brings it back muddy?

3. they were both in the wrong on many levels. but i'm siding with RideEng guy on this one for the sole fact that airing dirty laundry on social media is a bitch move. call the dude up and hash it out, don't go online and slander his name and business.

If drilling three holes that size in a head tube poses a safety problem with a frame. There might be other problems to worry about with a bike. Not naming any manufacturer names. But have seen enough bikes in two pieces on Vital and they usually are the same color of bike. And the head tube was intact just not with the rest of the frame. It did make for great radio last night though.

The whole thing is awkward AF. A bunch of he-said/she-said over a situation from 3 years ago. Adrian should definitely have called Donn and/or Yamaha to say he was installing the steering stabilizer. Adrian could have ended the beef if his pride would just let him tell Donn he made a mistake. But that doesn't absolve Donn from being a dick on social media.

The part where Matthes says "you have been kind of stirring this thing" to Donn and he replies "It's kind of fun" tells me a lot about Donn's maturity.

In the end neither guy comes off looking great IMO.

My thoughts exactly. Both were in the wrong but 3 years later and Don comes off like an absolute wanker. Giggling and smart arse comments throughout.

Funniest line was that there is a drill emoji on ig.

But honestly if Adrian would have just apologized, it would have been done with a long time ago. Him thinking it was ok and then making excuses for drilling into someone elses bike's frame was mind boggling. Without asking permission before hand was not cool. Don took the high road and agreed to drop it for an apolgy. But then Adrian couldn't. Who cares about the offroad team putting it on their bikes. Don came off as the one who was honest the entire time. There was even a thread about this beef on here about a month ago. During the entire interveiw I was thinking Ride Eng needs a PR person to go on Pulp not Adrian. Ride already puts out some good marketing emails so they obv have someone there good enough in that department. Both the Maedas have a ton of knowledge about the sport and neither are someone I would start a pointless beef with especially if I was clearly the one in the wrong.

So Yamaha helps out Randy Hawkins' AMPRO team. If this was such an issue back in the last decade, wouldn't you think Yamaha would put a halt in the name of rider safety?

Not an engineer so just a question to anyone who might be in the knowhow.

So there were 3 holes drilled in the head tube. Lets say that for whatever reason it might introduce some kind of structural weakness.
Wouldn't the fact that those holes have bolts in them now remove that weakness?

Haha yes Yamaha helps them out. But that doesn't mean Yamaha wants a bunch of holes in all the frames to their media bikes. Like last year, Yamaha also helped out Star, do you think they want all their bikes with cut up side panels? Just because a team does it doesn't automatically mean it's ok to do to someone elses bike.

He also stated the reason for doing so was because Don wanted 20mm clamps and Adrian wanted a good reveiw. If 20mm clamps were so bad without a damper then why make them or sell them?

Also just because Yamaha helps them out, doesn't mean they can dictate what the team does with the bikes such as adding a damper or not.

It was also a motocross bike, pretty sure Don wasn't signing up for any GNCCs with it.

Wind back the clock.

There's Yamaha, AmPro Yamaha, Ride Engineering, and TransWorld.

One of those is no longer around. Do the math.

Where does Donn's ego come from? Dude ran a business into the ground, bankrupted two magazines, he's a total dick to members of the moto world, no education, complete dick to his audience, vet intermediate speed at best on a motorcycle, shames slower riders, and shits on people that helped him on his SML venture. What am I missing?

Doesn’t seem like as big of a deal as publishing photos of MC wearing a different brand of gear, before his previous contract had run out.

To a point yes, but once drilled it will never be as strong as it was before as one solid piece, and in some cases depending on the forces on the mounting bracket the bolts could damage the holes if they were to become loose or something like that. One of those things that's probably not going to kill you, but I wouldn't want it done to mine...

I always try to withhold judgement as long as possible, but man Donna sure comes across as a douche on Pulp and the social media stuff just compounds it all.
Adrian isn't blameless but he seems much more reasonable about the whole thing.
Donna also SEEMS to straight up lie during that interaction on Pulp.

That nearly covers it methinks...not a fan.
