Agree and disagree. Remember the comment he made on someones IG and all the big dogs were bagging him? His attitude is a bit off putting. He has good insight, but acts like he is a top dog when he is mid pack in the LCQs at best. The guy needs a dose of reality. Before you bash me, I have made the same amount of mains this year as he has, and no I have no qualified for the night show. I also am not on Youtube and IG acting like I am a factory rider. He is not making a ton of money off of views on Youtube, but I do like how he is showing the other side of it. His attitude and cockiness is just cringeworthy.
Don’t know anything about that comment on IG but I don’t get the cockiness from his YouTube videos. There’s no hiding what his results are and that he’s far from a factory ride, he seems to be genuinely showing the struggles of trying to fight with those factory guys.
I’m a fan anyway

The lack of understand that boomers in executive positions have about content generation and social media engagement never ceases to amaze me.

Let's see the AMA actually have the balls to turn him away at a race because he used too much footage in a weekly vlog. . .
Sadly they’d probably do it in a heartbeat, then turn around and give the 1, 94, 2, etc a pass. Pro MX and SX screwing privateers while throwing out the rule book for factories is a time-honored tradition.

Supercross and the AMA need to understand that Youtube and social media has been the driving source of Moto the past 10 years. NBC could do such a better job with moto, even make this more lucrative for them, but they just do not care.

What if all the fans, in the stadium and watching at home, all took videos of the race on their phones and uploaded it to Youtube just as a big FU to NBC....

Not to defend Feld here but it’s kinda unfortunate that OP put Feld in the title. He was quick to correct himself in the first reply and said it’s actually NBC restricting the footage but it seems most people didn’t see that and are just piling on Feld. Hell, some are even piling on the AMA as if they would have anything to do with footage used in videos.

Again I don’t want to defend Feld or the AMA as there is a lot they can do better but I think it’s important to at least blame the right people when we complain.

I think he had some sort of social media battle with Barcia some years ago. Maybe Barcia got mad at him or something based on a critique Catanzaro wrote about many top riders technique.

NBC pays for the rights to air the races.
If anyone can just video tape it and put it online, it lessen their investment.

You can't break up a copyright issue by saying "He can do it, but that guy can't"
Then you have created a whole other issue.

Just like teams can video tape for internal use, but not air it on any social media

This is not exclusive to supercross

I think it was buttery. Aj criticized his riding form/skill to followers ratio, and he got attacked for it.

In his defense aj is incredibly disciplined with technique and absolutely shreds. I’ve seen him locally many times and it’s insane in person.

I don’t know about you but I’ve never paid to attend a SX for the privateers. They are excellent riders but the sport would move along just fine without them. Super cross should consist of the top 40 guys on the planet all in one class. These 2 coast 250 classes are in need of revamping. Every week should be a East/West shootout

I don’t agree with video footage of a privateer rider being limited but let’s cool down on the “bringing more viewership” talk. People who watch his vlog are already watching Supercross.

well maybe NBC needs to get off their asses.. and provide behind the scenes content like we used to get with bar to bar... and what these vlogs are for... 1. They don't even offer insight to what any one rider is doing.. 2. how is a guy that is not in the night show effecting their investment? How does his clips interfere with the investment in what way?

Its a fucking bullshit move and i precisely hate companies who practice this kinda of shit... Id rather supercross drop em and it just goes to supercross online or something.

Remember when Wilson couldn’t run his CBD logo, and a year later CBD MD was a big sponsor? Won’t be long before we start seeing YouTube tuff blocks.

It’s a “pay to play” format.

That’s why the whole show is cramming Kawasaki, VP Fuels, Monster Energy commercials down your throat the whole show.

I’d much rather have 5 minutes of pit reports than the science of supercross bullshit, but Kawasaki is buying that TV time and has to fill it with something related to their brand.

The whole package has gone Corpo and is aimed at selling product to the consumer in between races.

I really wish RC would step up when calling the LCQ races. Would it be that hard to list off a couple of the privateer’s title sponsors when battling for that 5th place season? For some privateers, one mention of “mom and pops shop” during the LCQ on national TV could be huge. They certainly have no problem rattling off Redbull KTM, Star Racing Yamaha, Monster Energy Kawasaki, etc. but when it comes to the privateers, they’re just a name and a number.

Privateers need to boycott this joke of a sport for a week. Let’s give nbc one 4 rider 250 main and see what happens.

It’s unreal their “logic.”

(Probably nothing but my point being).

It wouldn’t change any viewership. No one is tuning in to watch places 13-20. By the end none of those positions are even on the lead lap. Are they quality riders? Absolutely. But let’s be real. The last five positions on the gate are filler only. The argument that privateers are the heart of the show somehow and without privateers then there is no show at all is almost laughable now. I may have agreed with that 20 years ago but the sport of SX has changed quite a bit with regard to that.
There are plenty of people rooting for 13 -20th place riders, I'm one of them.

So who are these "privateers" who are suffering so terribly and their life is so bad because of NBC ? Sound like you need to go find another sport or past time to go complain about because YOU and others like you are what is wrong with the sport. All you do is piss and moan and complain about shit that has nothing to do with you. Do you think any of these privateers give a damn about how little money you make ? I doubt it.

I started watching AJ’s content after round 1. It actually got me interested enough I bought Peacock to be able to watch qualifying. It’s was really cool to see how the day of a 20-40 guy goes. I thought it was a huge crock when he said a couple shows ago that GoPro says he can only post 45 seconds of content. I think he explained that only GoPro sponsored athletes can post content more than 45 seconds. That seemed so stupid to me. Why would they turn down free advertising. Now with NBC or whoever telling them no more riding footage, it’s just so backwards. I’ll keep watching AJ’s content just to support him. But the folks that make these calls have to be the biggest morons in the sport. And for folks claiming he should just post it anyway, it’s not the AMA or NBC he has to worry about. If they make a claim against him the YouTube will demonetize his channel. that’s the whole reason he’s there.

Lol at this thread. Everyone wants stuff for free. NBC owns the rights. Of course they aren’t going to let anyone profit off it for free on top of not being able to control the content. And then you guys think you are smarter than a multi billion dollar company with 7 figure executives that are very good at what they do.

It’s no different than any other sport.

Stop thinking everyone is out to get you and learn a thing or two about how business actually works. The whole world of video/print/social media is based on rights ownership. You don't own the rights then you can't make money off them.

Swapmoto was interviewing i think Nichols (check latest or 2nd last Swapmoto week vlog) in Star truck and the 450 main was on their TV in the truck because it was on ( in the background) his vlog/interview they told him to take it down.
RacerTV amateur coverage is all ways being block by Feld.
