Mine would be the 2002 TM300. I had search long and hard to find a pic of this shitbox. There weren't many pics of me racing it because I only raced it for maybe the first month of the 02 season before parking it. It almost killed me multiple times. Worst bike EVER...

1979 Can-Am MX5 250. Fast as hell, but mechanical dnf'ed 19 of 30 motos that year. Even stripped the key out of the primary gear on the crank end (yes, they had this dinky little key in a key way instead of a spline). And the gas tank mounts broke four times, one time the tank came right off when I landed from a jump.

2nd worse bike was a 1981 Husqvarna 250CR. Beautiful suspension, by my gawd that thing was gutless!

2004 KX250F. Busted my spleen at Elsinore the first month owning it and was still able to get a decent amount as it was still hot off the shelves and in demand. Luckily got rid of that that jank before the bad news hit of its garbage engines and got me a 04 KX250 2-stroke.

1989 CR500R. Poor suspension and head shake like a dog with a bug in his nose.

Yes on the 89 CR. I pulled so many holeshots on mine and then prayed when entering whoops.

2014 YZ450f, handled like a pig, no front end confidence and motor to aggressive.
And yet, I had the complete opposite experience. Suspension done, changed bars and an FMF exhaust and that bike was amazing. I absolutely loved the motor. What suits one, doesn't suit another.

1983 RM125 I did not hate it, but I bought one in ‘83 and it was so slow against the competition. Finished 2nd in a local series and I could not stop a YZ motoring away on every straight.
How about the Hondas? The CR125 was the shootout winner back then.
Yes- I had an 83 RM125D, exactly the same experience -thing was really very tame- it wasn't maybe totally terrible but CR /KX and YZ think were alot better- it was really hard to light that thing up and rarely happened. Sure my older '82 125RMZ was alot better than the 83 125D. 83D did very little that was exicting or maybe its just I was abit of a crap rider also!

Its interesting some of the bikes mentioned- I reckon it maybe is true that when you buy a stock bike that you maybe get lucky or unlucky and get a fastone or slow- some of the bikes mentioned I thought may have been better. Interesting thread. Smile

1983 YZ490 that bike tried to kill me on several occasions. Front drum brake locking up by itself, kick starter kicking back into the back of my leg, crazy vibration... i did race it at Ascot a couple of time in 1988 when i got back into riding after 4 years off.... i must have been pretty brave back then Laughing
Sold it and bought a brand new 89 YZ250 Smile

look, no goggles Unsure

all this hate and no mention of a Cannondale??? I was happy to sell my 02 440s after realising it was a lumbering battleship, full of issues and R&D that wasn't done well or at all.... coulda, shoulda, woulda. Funny thing is that I traded in my 2001 VOR 503mx, thinking I had actually got a deal for once.
2001 Cannondale MX400, I wanted one so bad when they came out, waited a few years (didnt read much about them unfortunately), bought a used one, thought it was the coolest bike on the entire planet for about a week, then, I couldn't get rid of it fast enough. Wound up parting it out to recoup some of my money. Complete turd!!

1984 CR500 and a 2017 KTM 450. Hated both. Both made me question riding. I couldn't ride my KTM and after a month I bought something else. I hated that pumpkin a lot.....

2006 Yamaha YZ250F... thing was a ticking time bomb. And my 2008 crf250r. Couldn’t go two rides without adjusting the valves.

And a Husky 610TE with the kickstarter on the left side, hated that bike with a passion!

1981 RM80. Every time I rode it the rear suspension use to pinch the inside of my legs. (squid in training)
1996 RM125. I spent more on spark plugs than I did on fuel.

I had the 97 and it vibrated like hell. But it was my first new bike and first 250. I thought it was supposed to vibrate like that. I just remember if you twist the throttle your opponent would look like they went in reverse. Until you had to turn it.....

2002 Suzuki JR80- the richest running bike in the world and no jets for it. Gah... I _amazingly_ found an FMF pipe system for it and that helped a LITTLE bit, but what a turd. Bought it for $800, sold it for $800, though.

Where did you find the fmf pipe for the 80 at?

1991 KTM 125 MX

When I 1st picked it up, the linkage would "stick"...push the back end down & it stayed down.
The water-pump cover was "disolved/disolving"...
The Engine was EXTREMELY fast...and you could get a helluva jump out of the gate...then you couldn't get it ti shift! Grinning
The DelOrto carb was awesome...jetted easily...and weighed nothing (It was Magnesium).
The bike could have been awesome if I'd wanted to take EVERYTHING apart and make it work...but, I ain't RatBeach Racing! He's smart. I'm not!

I feel your pain. My dad and I were sharing a bike and we traded our ‘00 rm125 in on an ‘02 TM 250. Unridable. It made decent power always at the wrong time, and at a different time, every time, 50% of the time. Then dad did his own cylinder work and turned it into a fire breathing 125 with the hit of a 250, tuned to come on right after the apex of the corner, sometimes. So sometimes it would fall on its face, sometimes it would wheelie out of the rut. 2002 TM250 was a bike I was glad to see get sold off.

Buying the 93 RM250 ($3699) over the 93 CR250 ($4350) because it was cheaper. Total piece of junk. Stinkbug handling, short powerband and atrocious stock jetting (along with a $pecial NGK plug that fouled constantly). It finally ate a main bearing at a sand track. After the rebuild it ran like it should have in the first place, but by then had built up too much ill will with me. I sold it and bought a real bike - a 93 CR500.

99' KTM 200. Vibrated me sterile, god awful twitchy soft front end, and that 39mm carb was impossible for me to jet.

Didn't mind my 08 KTM 200

2017 KTM 250 SX, forks were garbage, wayyy too much springy rebound feel. Sliding out on flat corners like a goon.

2019 CRF250R, its okay but its power curve blows for my local tracks that are tight dry slick

Wow, glad I sold? Not any ringers, but the 2004 KX250 smoker I had could be a candidate. Good bike, but under matched against the 4 bangers I was starting against.

Probably closest is the ‘06 RM250 that I swapped pinks slips (with a friend) to get my Dad’s ‘83 CR480 back that he bought new. Same bike I raced as a teenager. Good to have it back in the stable.
