Hijacked from the start. But race discussion more entertaining than another coverage complaint.

Marvin is probably the biggest threat to both of them, honestly. He's 20 back, half the gap to Tomac and the least likely to full on throw a moto away IMO. Plus, he is easily the most consistent top-5 starter of the 3 of them, which will be a huge advantage if we get more mudders.

Ben Townley blew his bike up at round 1 2007 easy coast SX , had less points paying races to come back as well,

Like most years, nearly every rider will have at least one off-moto.. it’s hard to think Zacho won’t have at least one.
I say Marv May be the real threat here, he is super consistent.

Soso about Tomac. He is very hard on the clutch, no doubt. I think first moto wasn't his fault because he has managed a lot of mud races in the past pretty well. He was second, solid ride but shit happens. I think he also hate the track.

He is a good hunter, let's see what he can do. Gonna be interesting.

Can’t take too much away from the 2 amateur track races, one being a full on mudder.
There are going to be races where Zach runs 5-10 range and coughs up a heap of points.
Eli is going to have to put a lot off 1-1 days on the board to get back into contention. Both the Red Buds should be his.
Marvin will be a threat though

Has Zach ever finished less than 40 points behind Tomac in a series?

I think he has only raced 450 outdoors last season, and he missed a race there

Passes 30 people in 4 laps? 40th in the first turn of the first lap. Less than 10 minutes later he's inside the top 10. What an epic charge. (Either that or he cut the track). Best race lap was a 2:24 and we saw none of it? WTF?

I think its good for the series that Tomac is 40 down. Makes it interesting and its unlikely that Osborne will run away with the series. Tomac will bounce back and chase points whilst Osborne has to manage the weight of that Red plate. Awesome for the season.

What does it say about the depth of talent in the field?

Riiigght.
Tomac sent it in a field full of people conserving their bikes and it cost him. It was a risk vs rewards situation.

This is what I've been saying all week. Marv, IF he's close to being 100%, is a real threat here. And I take a full strength Marv over Zach for sure

Tomac winning this championship would be a miracle in the skies.

Irregardless, that Kawi team has some deep seeded issues with reliability. It’s a doggy dog world and if I were them I’d nip it in the butt. Wouldn’t expect them to get off scotch free otherwise.

Hate to see titles decided by DNF’s. But 40 points is tough unless Zach has a DNF. Tomac needs to make up 6 pnts per round to catch Zach. Plus are there 7 left? Who knows? Eli should have nursed it like Jmart at LL2. Easier said than done. Zach or Marv.

When you think about Eli being hard on clutches and how the ideal riding style for mud is Roczen’s and then you compare the twos results in mud races since 2018 Eli has been a better mud rider! Eli has been a very good and consistent mud rider till Saturday and he was on his way to another good mud in moto 1 till disaster struck! Below is comparing a clutch abuser to a non clutch abuser.

Seattle 2018: Eli won, Roczen sidelined
Unadilla 2018: Eli 1-2, Ken 7-7
Ironman 2018: Eli 2-9, Ken 3-2
Red Bud MXDN: Eli 4-7, Ken 25-9
Anaheim 1 2019: Eli 3rd, Ken 2nd
San Diego 2019: Eli 1st, Ken 3rd
Hangtown 2019: Eli 4-1, Ken 1-2
Spring Creek 2019: Eli 2-5, Ken 14-2
Salt Lake 3: Eli 1st, Ken 10th

This goes one of two ways right? He’s either over it with the SX title in the bag and underperforms

Or the smack down is imminent for the rest of the year

“nip it in the butt.” nip it in the bud.

So how did Tomac get a reputation for abusing clutches? Where did that come from?

Just because he rides the bike really hard?

From what I know, they all abuse the clutches the way they modulate with it. I would too if I knew I could get a new free clutch each moto.

I think this is going to shape up to be one of the most exciting seasons of MX we have had in decades given the hole Tomac is in. We know he has the talent and ability to make a comeback run. We know there is enough parity in competition at the top to make things tough on the other title contenders. Its highly likely the series will go down to the last race. Lots to look forward to in my opinion.

He literally lapped nearly the whole hole field in super cross not long ago now all of a sudden he doesn’t know how to make his bike last in mud
