We've been hammered. Very busy.

Those we have spoken to are also very busy.

Here is our theory...

There's no baseball
There's no football
There's no basketball
Can't go to the club
Can't go to bars

What are you going to do?

Hunt
Fish
Boating
Bicycle
Motorcycle

This whole mess has been good in one way, it's getting people outside more..

What else is there to do?
Sit and watch Jerry Springer?
you left out sex

Sales of everything is booming. I just went to an RV dealer and they had 15 motorhomes on a lot that usually has hundreds. Guy told me he has had his best month in 20 years of selling. Took 3 weeks to get a 4 wheeler for my wife. She's not a bad girl I have no idea why that trade was so difficult. Ba dum tisss haha

In actuality we were looking for a four wheeler for her to ride and every dealer was out and used ones were priced crazy. Go out to the waterways and there are new boats and new boaters all over the place, pure chaos.

Last year was our best year ever and I'm less than 10 units away from hitting last years total as of today. 21's are arriving already going out the door. If I had had any more 85's I would have been well over by now. I got calls daily looking for 85's last month.

I run an online RV parts supply company and we have had back to back record months. Huge demand for upgrades right now.

Anything recreational related is currently maxed out..motorcycles (street and dirt), sxs, jet skis, bicycles, guns, the entire boating industry, you name it. It's been a crazy spurt for sure. I fully expected everything to dry up when the pandemic hit, due to people being cautious about spending money... however, it has been anything but that for the power sports industries. I suppose for the reasons EngineIce Dave stated.

As far as Rocky Mountain's delivery delays, things we used to get in 2 days from the warehouses is taking up to 7 days now. As a result of the Covid, all the warehouses are operating on reduced and limited staffing. What used to be handled by 7-10 people is now being done by 2 people on rotating shifts. We are still being told to allow up to 48hrs for the orders to get processed through the warehouse.

Will call from the Payson warehouse is same day. The perks of living in Salt Lake you can still get parts same day from RMATV

I can’t find a spark arrestor for my YZ125 anywhere! Seriously all online retailers as well as brick and mortar shops are out of stock of all brands. Trying to go do some trail riding next weekend at Kennedy Meadows but looks like I might be out of luck.

My buddy owns a bicycle shop, and there is almost a global shortage of bikes in almost all price ranges and parts are so scarce. It’s absolutely crazy.

I work for an aftermarket jet ski company and we have been busier than ever. Massive amounts of orders, were trying to keep up. We sold most our inventory of $30-40k stand up jet skis even. Service department is backed up 4-6 weeks working on skis. Lots of last minute push before this weekend has made it go even more crazy.

Pretty much the same here in Aus, From the sounds of it all fun / trail bikes are near sold out along with a lot of junior race bikes. Sales are well up on all Enduro Models.

We get a quarterly sales report on all motorcycle sales, the next one is going to be a very interesting read.

Even myself, with racing almost coming to a stop we decided to sell my sons' 2019 50SX, I had it for just $500 less than you could by a 19 run out new. Had three phone calls with in two weeks and sold, another mate then sold his at the same price a few days later. Normally it would be a couple of months of shit kickers and would have sold for $500 - $1000 less.

We were looking at a second YZ65, but will have to wait for the 21s to land now.

With no racing went to by my son a MTB, apart from some cheap nasty K-Mart stuff, I could not get a 24-inch MTB in the country unless we went to a dual suspension bike. There was a 4-6 week wait for any decent front suspension only bike of that size.

I think a lot of sales in Aus were helped by the government allowing people to dip into their Super / Retirement funds, with people allowed to take out up to $10,000.

Motorbikes, car upgrades, House Reno's anything anyone had been wanting to do quickly came available though at a long term cost.

The used market will be flooded with all of this stuff starting in 2021. It will be a great time to be a buyer.

Guess I’m stuck with my 2014 YZ250F for a while.

Either that or sell while the used Market is good.

Just going by numbers, I’d sell while the selling is good, sit on the sidelines a few months, then pick up a nice used 2018-2020 model for cheap when the market gets oversaturated with used bikes. Money wise, I bet you’ll probably come out close to even and end up with a newer bike. The only thing you’ll lose is a few months of riding.

So the question is, are you willing to give up a few months of riding to get a newer bike at little to no out of pocket cost?

Campers and Boat sales are crazy.

I decided to list my 2006 Mastercraft X30 wakeboard boat for sale.

Listed it for the same price I bought it 7 years ago and sold within 12 hours. Crazy....

Hell yeah. Seriously the only place I will go from now on. Everywhere in Illinois wants to take your house in extra fees. Larsons gave me a killer deal and shipped it to my buddies diesel shop in one day. Cant ask for better service.

I live in Victoria Australia and dealers in my area are all saying they've never been busier. The dealer I bought my new 450 from has had their best sales figures these last couple of months ,since they've been in business.
Moto parks are all very busy..no racing here yet

We're sold out completely on dirtbikes except for a lonely little DR-Z 50. Sold out on Sea-Doo, nearly sold out on ATVs and getting low on side by sides.

The used Sea-Doo market is absolutely insane, these things are selling for more than new after tax prices.

Took a call from a customer looking for 2 used sea-doos on a trailer, told him good luck but there's not a lot out there. He told me about 2 that he had seen but they were in Calgary(36 hour drive) and it would have cost $5500 to ship them. I happened to have a friend going through CGY on his way home that week, 1 phone call later my buddy is $3000 richer and all he had to do was make the same drive he was about to make anyway.

My buddy and I had bought an 87 Malibu ski boat a couple years back for $4200. Was in killer shape for the age and had a cool retro look. We just sold it for $8500 last week. People are buying up every damn toy they can get their hands on it seems.

Kinda what I'm wondering.

Why is it booming now? The typical excuse is it's expensive and need money to get into the sport. Not much has changed there, and I would think most are worse off due to COVID.

Is it just people have time to actually go outside and enjoy activities?

It could be a demographic shift as well. Those who would usually spend 10-20k on a family vacation for the summer are forced to stay home, so they have a lot of disposable income to spend. Couple that with most kids sports teams not running meaning more time and money saved, and people will look to whatever is available to keep the family and kids occupied. Moto/cycling/watersports are basically the only option right now.
So, speaking from my generational standpoint (I'm 28), it's a little of everything. One big thing I and others in my age range noticed; the fact that whether it be school, work, or social life, we have by our choice or due to work related reasons, been glued to the TV binge watching, or on the phone looking at social media since our teens.
This whole quarantine has, for most, given a lot of time to finally breathe, slow down, and reflect what's really important. This has lead to a lot of people to realize how pointless, unfulfilling, and fake that life is.
So, time to invest in real fun. My wife just got back into dirt biking after years of not liking it.
To back up what I said, too, with it being my generation; the iphone came out the summer before my sophomore year, June 2007.

It's not just out door sports. The wife is a realtor and shes been so swamped that shes been giving deals to other agents because she can't manage the ones she has.

$10k now available in Australia to be withdrawn from compulsory superannuation. Around the same price for a new motocross bike or top line e-mtb. Coincidence? I think not 😀
