Drail24 Added a reply to Ktm 4 stroke piston circlips

As Zzips said, you can get them in the old fashioned way... but it's not easy given the space you have to work with. If you put the piston on without the cylinder, you have a little more room to work... but then it's almost as difficult to get the cylinder on. If you put the piston in the cylinder...

If there are no issues with the starter relay, or the starter itself, then the other likely culprit could be the torque limiter. I forget what Honda calls it, it is behind the clutch.. you have to remove the right side cover to see it. You can lay the bike on its side, remove the clutch cover, and look up...

Have you washed the bike with a pressure washer? I've heard of starter issues resulting from washing the bike with cleaner/degreasers and a pressure washer. I've been told on the Honda ecu's, when you press the starter button, if it does not register rotation from the stator/crank trigger almost immediately, that it will shut down the starter relay. Even if...

Thanks for the info FGR01. My initial thoughts were to drop the pilot 1 size, move the needle down 1 and *maybe* go down 1 size on the main.. only because summer is coming and it will be in the 90's here most of the time. I'll wait on the main until we have a little more time on it...

Just picked up a 2023 GasGas 85 for the kid. According to the manual, the carb is jetted for roughly 70F and around 1200ft of elevation (give or take a few hundred feet). After his first ride this weekend, noticed it seemed a little "fat" off the bottom and had a good bit of "drool" out of the exhaust. We...

Drail24 Added a reply to Data Acquisition in Sx/Mx

1/22/2022 9:01am
Can't speak for Kibby, but I would imagine his gear data comes from a sensor on the shifter cam.. which is probably on some of the modern 4 strokes today from the factory and is used for manipulating the fuel and timing, per gear, on the different "power" maps available on the handlebar switch. Hopefully he will chime in and...

Mxtech1 sums it up pretty well. I have a degree in Mechanical Engineering and have worked in the racing industry for the last 25 years. In most all other forms of racing, data acquisition and interpretation is integral part of the program... and has been for years. Driver feedback is still very important (when you have a good driver/rider, even...

Had the opportunity to see him a couple of weeks ago at one of Matt Walker's races here in GA. I wasn't able to be there on race day due to other obligations, but was there Saturday during the practice sessions. He was traveling in a nice motorhome with enclosed trailer, but was parked at the track there and set...

Drail24 Added a reply to Alpinestars SM-10 vs. Shoei VFX-EVO

2/27/2021 5:16am
Can't speak for the Shoei, but recently pulled the trigger on the SM-10. Really enjoying it. Very light, comfortable, and great airflow. I do have one pair of older goggles that don't seem to settle into the eyeport area as well as my others, but it doesn't really bother me. Add another vote for the SM-10.

Drail24 Added a reply to Pro Circuit 450 head modification

2/6/2021 6:12am
Head mods can definitely make a bike "feel" different. Typical head mods involve modifying and reshaping the intake and exhaust ports (and/or valve seats) to change and improve the airflow through the head. If you just want to make more horsepower, you can usually grind and reshape the ports so that they are bigger and flow more air at higher...

Drail24 Added a reply to 2007 Honda cr125, cr144 Engine Mod Questions

Interestingly following this topic as I have an '00 CR125 that I am planning to rebuild also. I too have been debating on what bore size to go with, as I have read over and over again that the 144's just don't "feel" like a 125 with regards to how they rev and make power. I've been bouncing back and...

Drail24 Added a reply to Bell vs Astars helmet owners

10/10/2020 6:00am
Just recently picked up the A-star SM10. According to the A-star measurement chart, I think I was on the upper end of the medium sizing. Debated on whether to go with a medium or large, as there was no where local to try them on. In all the other helmets I've had over the years, I've always worn mediums, including...

Anything recreational related is currently maxed out..motorcycles (street and dirt), sxs, jet skis, bicycles, guns, the entire boating industry, you name it. It's been a crazy spurt for sure. I fully expected everything to dry up when the pandemic hit, due to people being cautious about spending money... however, it has been anything but that for the power sports industries...

Drail24 Added a reply to A/C for a 5x8 enclosed

6/26/2020 9:14am
This. Friend had one of these for his enclosed trailer, that also doubled as his camper. He had a small little flapper door on the side for the exhaust and a little catch pan inside with the unit for the condensation. Worked surprising well. He could roll it in and out as needed or leave at home and free up...
