Plus, you know Webb figures he will beat KR any time they line up. He also knows how good Tomac is & that he seems to win about half of the SX races he starts.

But you can't blame a guy for trying to convince you that he is going to beat you before the race starts. If that plants enough doubt in the your head, then it is a win - with almost no effort put in.

Trash talk happens in every sport.

And I'm fine with cocky, as long as you can back it up. Webb has a #1 plate & most of the time will beat everybody, except maybe Tomac.

Someone like Barcia - just no reason to be cocky.

Personally, though I do prefer the guy who feels no need for trash talk or being cocky - I'm going to beat you without playing any head games - I don't need them.

Comes down to the individuals personality I guess.

And as a Christian, the Bible is pretty clear on how we should talk. But, the Bible also says, that of all the things in the world, the tongue is one of the hardest to control.

I don’t know much about religion. But does the Bible specifically say your not allowed to use the “F” word?

Was the F word around 2,000 years ago 🤷🏼‍♂️

I like that Cooper is fired up and willing to challenge his competitors. I believe that's the real Cooper. But don't in your next breath profess to be a child of God living your life in Jesus' image. It comes off as disingenuous.

Who decides a word is a curse word though? Is there like a council and they vote on it? I could care less what words people use. It’s all about the tone they use it in.

I come from a military background though, so sure that has desensitized me from being offended by words.

I have a feeling that Cooper was just having a little light hearted fun. Not that he didnt mean it. It is possible to give people a ribbing and put them on notice at the same time in a light hearted fashion.

Curse words are easily defined when you have a toddler who is just learning to talk. In my experience curse words are the words that the toddler hears once, but has it memorized instantly. As further proof, the toddler then (of course) repeats these words any time it is possible to embarrass a parent.

If you are not embarrassed in these situations, then probably not a curse word.

I worked in a prison for 7 years, probably somewhat desensitized myself. I will admit that I didn't even realize that the F word could be used so many times in a single sentence. Most of the inmates cursed a lot as well, but I do recall hearing one use the word 'Dang' once - that word stood out since it was almost never used - not harsh enough.

Desensitized or not, the Bible verses above are good enough reason for me to try to keep my language clean. I know what a minority that put me in.

Now to agree with you: regardless of religion, I think the "F" word is way overused by many, and in my judgmental ears, makes people sound trashy as hell. I have zero problem with Cooper using it to rile up his competition, though. Sounds like it was a light-hearted jab as everyone sat on the line in relative silence. I don't even like the guy, but love that he did that.

Why? Because he loves the fight. It’s in his nature. A lot of people act like motocross is a gentleman’s sport. It’s not.

Eli loves it too, he’s just not the verbal type.

Personally I love hearing it. I loved the Tomac/Barcia bit from earlier this season as well.

He doesn’t seem to care about making friends, he just wants to work hard and win. To do so you have to have a little fire in you. When you lose that fire, you settle. When you settle, you lose.
Right the difference being that they are professional athletes who represent global brands. A little jab here and there is no big deal but if these guys started popping off like a beer league bench they would quickly find themselves watching instead of racing

I didn't like Webb at first. But the more I see him the more I understand him and I can relate to him. I don't believe he is cocky, he is just straight forward and likes to make others uncomfortable/sacred of his prescense.

In Pala last year I walked by next to him and he asked me if I wanted a picture with him. I found that really cool since I find intrusive asking for pictures, but since he was the first to offer I took one.

Cursing and cussing are two separate things. Cursing is trying to call down evil on someone. cussing is socially unacceptable language almost all of us use anyway. LOL!
