Sorry but this outdoor motocross race deserves some elevation change.

Your welcome for this guy asking DC the question. I would love it at Daytona myself but DC brought up some great points. I do agree that Red Bud deserves another chance. Was at MXofN and at the national and the national proved to me there is no better facility on the schedule. I was at Thunder Valley, High Point, Red Bud and Ironman. All are great tracks!
That’s funny, I was wondering if that was you. I remember you saying that on here last year. Grinning

I wasn’t into MX in 2007 when it was at budds, I’d love to see it at budds again. Yes I’m slightly biased being 2hrs away

You will never be able to convince me Daytona wouldn’t be an epic MXofN. There is just too many variables unfortunately 😪

Hmm. I’d heard rumors in the past of it coming back, but at another track. 🤷‍♂️

I don’t see any way it happens at Washougal. If it was wet, considering the grass-covered hillsides used for parking, it’d make the problems at Red Bud look minor in comparison.

As long as they don’t take out the off camber section like they did at MX of Nations them Red Bud is fine by me, as long as it doesn’t rain. But either way, I will be there. I really want to try Ernee this year but the almighty dollar is going to hinder those plans useless.

It’s a pipe dream and the facility probably could no way support a race the size of MXON, but Monster Mountain would be so epic.

Actually the people saying WW Ranch do have a few things in their favor.

Florida generally has good weather at that time not too hot and it's one of the drier months.

WW has shown the ability to put on a good event and invest in the facility. A couple years from now will only be better.

Close to home base for a lot of US riders.

Not to be overlooked early October is when Biketoberfest is going on an hour down the road and a good chunk of the motorcycle industry is in Florida at that time.

I have personally seen with my own two eyes that local cameramen at the Tampa Supercross do own and know how to use a towel to wipe the camera lens.

From a true motocross track point of view. How much different is Daytona than WW Ranch? While WW Ranch is a great facility, it’s no entrenched in the fabric of American Motocross quite like Daytona. Imagine Moto 3 under the lights to decide the winner of Motocross of Nations in front of 100,000 fans!

I heard the same, from a VERY reliable source.
But I'm not doubting DC, he's got way more insight than me.
Hope it does come back to Red Bud though but maybe a few more years.

As a local to the washougal-ish area, PLEASE dont let that track host the mxon. Not only would the parking be a mess, could you imagine the traffic on washougal river rd? People might as well bring a tent and just hangout until the national comes to town the following year! It would be an amazing sight to see all of those GP guys rip washougal though

I’ll just hold onto the memory of Desalle on a privateer Honda there.

Seems the ability for a venue to handle the crowd and potential inclement weather are pretty important.

I went to both ThunderValley MXON and Redbud MXON. I really enjoyed both but the weather in Colorado was far nicer. Can’t say it hurts that ThunderValley is right up the road either.

Hmm.... Interesting. Maybe I'm just looking too much into his comment or possibly misinterpreting it as future plans rather than just from a fans perspective. Here's his comments on the MXoN from the interview:

I think that when the Motocross of Nations comes back to America... My fingers are crossed that the weather will work out, it'll go back to RedBud and we'll take another stab at those Europeans on our track. If the weather works out, I think a lot of people would enjoy going there. Then in a few years we'll see about some other venues but right now my fingers are crossed that RedBud gets another shot at it. ...Did I just make news? [laughs]

Unadilla! American grass roots MX at its finest. The other side sucks, Boob Inspector, Gravity Cavity, Screw-U, there is plenty of parking, spectators can see for what seems like miles and Cooperstown is right down the road.

Iron man will be epic
Agreed, the track changes made last year put the track on another level. Really have to be there in person to get a sense of how good the track is.

I was pretty happy hearing DC hint that RedBud was going to host it again. I drove down from Toronto and had a blast despite the weather. I couldnt believe how close I was able to get to the trucks and riders. Honestly one of my favorite parts of the whole weekend was putting my 2003 Nissan Pathfinder to the test getting in and out of the parking lot each day, 4x4 drifting with the motor banging off the limiter in the mud was just the cherry ontop.

Lol, after the last 7 years I really don’t think that matters, all the excuses should be interesting though.

I wonder how Red Bud did financially?

Hopefully, they did well.

It's a very, Very expensive business hosting an MXDN, or a GP. Luongos / Youthstreams / now InFronts (one assumes will be) Fees and requirements for either are Very High, and Demanding.

Didn't the 2007 Buds Creek MXDN leave the promoters / track in a difficult position?.

And, goodness knows how Glen Helen dealt with the dreadful attendance, and, one assumes, dreadful income from the GPs there. I wonder if Mr Info here could shed some light on that?

WW Ranch 'survived' a GP, to get onto the Nationals roster. Bravo!

The other GP at Charlotte had a Hurricane or some such bearing down on them, that must have limited the spectator turn up - though it was probably 20/30 times that which turned up at GH.

So, you've got to find a promoter / track willing to take on a Very Big Risk, whoever they are. It's a Big reason why you see the MXDN going to say, France and Europe in general, quite often - they know they'll get monumental attendance, so they've a chance not to go broke paying Luongo.

Cooperstown is the only place to stay, it’s in the middle of nowhere and it’s like 4 hours from the nearest international airport. The track is fine but everything else about it can’t handle the magnitude of the event

I’d love to see it in my home state again. Wasn’t able to go the first time so this would be great.

Now that, is bloody priceless, makmcguire !. Woohoo

Judging by the 450 qualifying at Matterley, at times, it looks like Luongo hasn't found the budget for towels, let alone camera roll offs / hoods with air streams to keep precipitation off the lenses. That combination, could deal with anything but a storm turned up to 11.

I don't know if High Point could handle mxdn - I don't think they have enough room or beer.

It is pretty close to pittsburgh airport though.

Utica is 38 minutes away and at least in the early 2000s is where more of the pros stayed.

would Millville be pretty much ruled out due to weather concerns?

I'd love to see this happen and have the weather cooperate this time. We can have some beautiful weather here that time of the year. We just had shit luck in 2018 (although it was definitely one to remember!).
