Friday night races at Action Sports old track on the other side of US33. Way before all this supermini 1, supermini 2, schoolboy 1, schoolboy 2, collegeboy etc. they had just a schoolboy class. I raced 125B and the schoolboy on a KX125 and Stevie Childress was always there racing 80 senior and schoolboy because he was a few years younger than me. I would always get the holeshot when we lined up together in schoolboy because I weighed all of 117 lbs and those 85 KX125s were rocketships but within 2 laps he would get around me and put half a lap between us in a 5 lap race and he was on a 80!!

That’s it. Not sure what year Drew moved to the west side of route 33 but in the mid to late 80s they raced every Friday when it was on the east side of hwy. No AMA sanction at that time so no trophy no plaque just cash payback for all classes.

Carlsbad. Friday night Costa Mesa speedway, Saturday am REM at Carlsbad, watch the drags after our moto's, drive 35 minutes home and surf, Sunday sleep in and recover. Great period of time for me.

In 93 the track was pretty much a supercross track. I remember Jeromy Buehl just flying around the track.

Jolly Roger raceway in Kent, WA. Closed and turned into condos long ago. http://jollyrogersmotorcycleclub.com/

The only tracks that are still open appear to either be near another major noise source (dragstrip, airport, railroad, freeway) or be remote enough and have enough land to buffer the track from new residential developments. I can think of one exception where the noise code is a 24-hour average (agricultural zoning) and the track limits riding time to keep the 24-hour average noise down. I wouldn't want someone practicing starts 300' from my home either.

Baja Acres is an amazing facility - probably the best I have ever been to. Owner and D14 on the outs? I didn't know that...everything seemed full tilt boogie at the brawl this year?

Frozen Ocean in Upstate NY. 20 minutes from where I grew up. Spun countless laps there over the years. It’s still around and under new ownership but a shell of it’s former self. Back in the mid-late 90’s early 2000’s they held a Wednesday big money pro race on the night track the week of Unadilla. It would draw really big names and the races were always super intense cause of how technical the track was back then. Casey Johnson, Brock Sellards, Jiri Dostal, Nick Wey, Grant Langston, Mike Alessi and of course the locals Phil Nicoletti, Bob Kiniry, Paul Carpenter, Chris Coleman, Carlo Coen, Barry Carsten, Ty Wallace all shredded laps there at some point

Same, I miss that place. The dirt was always so good on race day on the big track back in the day, Mr. Denman knew how to dig it lol.

I remember the Yamaha race of champions in 06, the night race Saturday night went till almost 2am they had so many entries.

Never been so happy with a fifth. I eventually stopped racing the night race and only raced Sunday because it used to get over so late. It was a lot of fun to have to qualify to make the mains on Saturday though. Had lots of good times there over the years and it is kind of bumming that it's not like it was.

One of my greatest memories was getting to ride there in 2001 at 18 years old for an open ride day on a borrowed bike. Not long before it closed for good I believe. Rock hard blue groove. Nothing like I had ever ridden before.
I'm sure I was there! Dang, we probably spun laps together!

I've probably rode 5x as many laps at Baja Acres as any other track.

The brawl isn't sanctioned by D14.

Baja left D14 after the 2017 season. Joined the GLMX series for 2018. GLMX merged with D14 and Baja decided to do there own thing.

Hangtown - active of course. Uphill double back in either 99 on a KX80 or 2000 on a KX85, can't remember.

I taught my kids how to ride in a flat, empty dirt lot about 500 yards to your left in that first picture. Of course, this was in 2013, not 1990.

Albany SX by far (Oregon not NY). The name is misleading because it was absolutely MX not SX. It is still going. I haven't ridden there in 20+ years, unfortunately.

It would be Canyon Raceway in Phoenix... Still there, not quite like it was back in the day when an AMA National was held there.

Second would be Saddleback... We all know the story there.

The 500 in Stillwater, OK. Still active. Or, Cooperland, not active. What a great track, though!

Freddy Vans Cycle Land Pittsburgh Kansas. Later changed to Freddy Vans Cycle Park around 79-80 when the Burke brothers ran it. We had nearly a mile of pvc pipe buried for irragation, 1st track that I know of to water the track thru out the race day. This track also had the 1st forward falling start gate in the early 70s. I still have the 16hp 6inch 300+ pound pump that we used to pump from the old strip mine pits. Closed mid/late 80s. Housing subdivision. mb

Mid 70s to early 90s motocross would be Ohio International Raceway. I liked hare scrambles better, so that would be Buckeye Raceway or East Palestine or Salem (Teegarden), or Western Reserve lol.
