But probably do need the money to make a profit out of their mx team , and they are not a charity

It’s scary for the sport even with the contacts and resources they have to run the sponsorship for the nascar Teams they can’t get an outside Industry sponsor for the mx team
No being a smart ass but just how does JGR make money off a mx team?

Lol, wrong. Unless you're trying to make the night show at Anaheim. Which most people are not.

Hell yeah!
If Joey is going to be on a Suzuki in Australia.. The only decent Suzuki id say would be built by Byrners Suzuki in Seaford Victoria with SPMX Suspension. Steve Powell builds great suspension and engine packages so the bikes will be good. Jayden Rykers is our top Suzuki guy in his rookie 450 season in 2019. Jayden proved the Suzuki was very completive against all of them factory bikes. Joey has dealt with Byrners Suzuki in Australia before on 85's

Anyone in the NC area that can go take a look at their test track to see who is riding?
Yeah - I know it is not as easy as it sounds but someone can give it a try!!

Suzuki's bottom line certainly wasn't helped by this:

https://www.ocregister.com/2019/10/03/yorba-linda-accountant-arrested-o…
I may have read the financials wrong but I believe Suzuki's net profit from 2018 was $2,215,604,111.00 USD

1.8 Million sounds like a huge chunk of money to the average person but in the grand scheme of Suzukis business its a drop in the hat.

Jgr has a online store you can buy from.

JGR screwed themselves by choosing Yamaha and then Suzuki as their bikes. Sure their shop is great, but starting with the worst possible baseline hasn't helped bring in the results and sponsorship money. How great would Barcia have been on a JGR Honda.....

Their test track isn't like the ones in SoCal where you can just drive up to them and watch...

Us hardcore fans know that. But when the casual fan attends the race at their nearest stadium they have no clue. Parents are forced to buy whatever is approved by Feld and/or Monster. Little Johnny might be interested in a cool JGR souvenir if it were available on the concourse. Not saying that it would generate the funds needed to support a team but, it certainly wouldn’t hurt.

You don't go to a spectator event for low, low closeout prices on wares.

Any merch is part of the family entertainment budget, and everyone knows it isn't value priced. Its purpose is as a souvenir to keep memory of a fun outing, a purely emotionally-driven purchase that fails to check those boxes if just an online bargain buy.

And how is a kid going to get his favorite rider to sign the hat you are going to later purchase online?

I think it's fair to say that their bikes have always held back their riders.

You mean the bike Barcia was winning outdoor motos on in 2015 was holding him back? Or the bike Brayton rode in to a near victory in Phoenix 2014? Or the one Millsaps rode to 2nd in the SX series in 2012?

My take from afar on JGR is that maybe the team has suffered from its low-key vibe. They operate as a big family, not nearly as corporate as say factory Kawi or Honda. Maybe that vibe just does not promote enough pressure to push riders to their absolute best. I don't know, I'm just spitballing here. But I'm not going to blame their bikes.

This.

I live about 5 or 6 miles from the track. It’s down a private dirt road with a gate at their entrance. Heavily wooded, so you can’t see anything from outside. You’ll have to get the guy that flew the drone over Stew’s place to do some recon but it’s likely to get shot down. We like our target practice around here. Wink

Honestly if you think the bikes held them back I have a bridge to sell you at a fare price.

They didn’t “choose Yamaha and Suzuki”

That’s all that was left! Just like Savatgy isn’t “choosing” Suzuki......it’s all that’s left!

Sorry but merch isn't the saving grace people think it is when it comes to funding teams and riders. I think it's dumb FELD has a stranglehold on the industry and profitability of our independent teams, but selling a few hundred hats and tshirts isn't going to even cover diesel to get to the next round.

I'd say FELD keeping out or limiting sponsor engagement out of protection of their own series partners has played bigger factor in team funding in the past.

Its all part and parcel of the same issue. Basic rev streams that Feld is explicitly cutting off from the teams.

And while diesel to the next round may not move the needle much for an outfit like JGR (certainly broader sponsorship opportunities could), it may be huge for a smaller operation.

That new driveway and ranch style sign look beautiful next door.

Defintely not wrong about helping some of the smaller teams or efforts. But I think we should be looking for systematic solutions that make a large impact for all teams. We need to change the culture of how things are done and make this a level playing ground.

Here is the end all of all talk about how to change things to be more profitable. Until there is a full riders union or somone one else comes along and starts a series nothing will ever change. End of story.

1) Start charging $150 for every ticket

2) Start charging $300 for every Photographer, per event

3) Start selling cool merchandise at the races for $200

Instant $millionaire!

Cheap to modern people are $400 apparently.

My coworkers complain about how expensive softball is for their daughters.
I know is besides the point of this thread, but kids travel sports can get stupid expensive. I've spent more on my daughters travel softball then I ever have on my dirt bikin' hobby.

Cost isn't the biggest barrier to entry in this sport like people think it is.
