This in incredibly ironic. Have you checked your post history? Your only purpose here is to talk shit on riders, teams, etc. No wonder where Joey gets it from.

Tomac was coming fast. No way Joey was going to hold him off. He wilted and pulled over because he knew Tomac was flying.
must not have listened to the podcast then lol. Joey said he was slowing down to the point where it wasn't super obvious and planned to let eli by outside the stadium. he's not as down as some of u think he is...

What I don't understand is that he seems oblivious to the consequences of all this.

Let's say Joey doesn't get a ride for next year and has to privateer/couch.
Eli or Adam gets hurt and Kawi needs a fill-in. Does he think they'll call him after this?

That’s assuming you believe him. Again, we are only hearing Joeys side of this story. ET is not likely to jump into this stuff so I️ doubt we’ll ever hear his side. The truth is always somewhere in the middle.

Lesson learned !

I’m pretty sure that if you were in his shoes, you’d be feeling the same way. He may not make everyone happy with how he comes off in the interview, but Joey has good reason to feel the way he does about it, IMO.
Tomac could have parked Joey on his way to the front, which is the argument, I get it... but he could've gone down in the process as well.
A simple thanks or a nice dinner after the race would’ve been a nice thing to do. Not even acknowledging the move by Joey was pretty class-less, in my opinion !!
I don't know either one of them but obviously Eli is a super competitive guy, maybe he'd have rather have gotten second in a real battle instead of having JS pull over and make sure he got the win (that Eli thought he was going to get anyway ? ) I could see him being pissed because he was convinced he was going to catch him anyway, and when JS bagged it and slowed down it made it an "illegitimate win ?" Maybe Eli didn't want any help ? I don't know but it would explain why Eli wasn't all gushy saying thank you, thank you so much for handing me the win, .........the win that I would have got anyway....

Exactly... I would've thanked him for fueling anti Tomac people and tarnishing a huge accomplishment, I'm sure it embarrased the shit out of him too..

I’ve known Joey since he was on 65’s. He’s a good kid, from a good family and definitely not a liar or story teller. I’m just happy he shaved that dumb beard off.... Laughing
Like I said already, I have little doubt that Eli could of and probably would’ve caught Joey to win the race. You have valid points, that have been brought up by others as well... I just get the feeling that Eli doesn’t care much for Joey and the way he went about handling it, kinda shows that, IMO.
Eli has always kinda kept to himself over the years, I watched him grow up at the amateur nationals and he didn’t hang around with the other kids much after the races were over, the family took the racing thing VERY serious and it seemed to work out for them.
Not that Joey and his family didn’t take it serious, because they definitely did !! They moved to Georgia to let him pursue his racing career when he was still on 80’s, including living at MTF.

Too many people passing judgement on him for actually speaking his mind, but I wouldn’t expect any less. Everyone entitled to their opinion...

I have no idea how these insured payouts work for a race like that, but is it possible that if the insurance company learned that Eli paid Savatgy for moving over that it could potentially void the payout? Just a theory, but who knows.
I agree that’s why a confidential settlement was needed and probably wait a significant amount of time

Couple championships and a lot of races wins, and not a dime to his mechanic. A bike blowing up could happen anytime. It’s a shitty way to treat the guys in your corner.

When a person doesn’t say thank you I always wonder how they were raised. That’s just me though. Joey has to move on at this point. Live and learn...

I’m sure Tomac didn’t ask him or any other competitor to ever let him by. He has either flew through the pack to wins or sometimes settled.

Joey should worry about that title he left in Vegas more than his inability to race for the win and do himself justice.

Hopefully, Joey can just let his riding do the talking next year if the casino money ever materializes.

Honestly, I’m guessing JS would say no anyhow. Classy move by a good dude. Good people have been getting the raw end of the stick since the beginning of time. Glad he learned his lesson though, when it comes to competing. Maybe Eli can learn a life lesson from all this. Side note: I am a huge fan of both riders

People complain when riders give vanilla interviews but when one tells you what he is really thinking - you throw him under the bus. Good on Joey for being transparent. He has a chip on his shoulder now and will be cool to see him get more aggressive on the track - not taking others out, but fast hard riding!! I am hoping he gets that ride and shows what he can do.

Tomac is a spoiled brat. He’s acted like one several times. This forum loves him because he hunts in the off-season and builds fences and they relate to that, but he’s not a warm person. I’m in no way surprised that he didn’t thank savatgy.

Seems to be the new way around here.

I recommend Reddit (r/motocross) if your friend is looking for another place to talk moto.
