Firepower makes a great OEM replacement battery at a reasonable cost.

People hating on the Kawi are overlooking the number of other bikes that had failures. Osborns bike was close the crapping out.. A factory bike being ridden by a pro rider in a mud race like that is stressed to the limit. It happens. Really sucks it happened twice to Tomac though and he has every right to be pissed. Certainly doesn’t mean the KX off the showroom floor is going to be unreliable.

I actually own both bikes and switch off between the two. I think the kawi is racier and has better agility. Great bike if racing fast is the #1 priority. The Yamaha is also a great bike. Ergos are not an issue for me. Build quality is better on the Yamaha (trust me on this) and the bike is more polished as a package. If you are trying to pass someone by cutting down in a turn you will do better on the kawi. if you are buying the bike and normally upgrade every 1-2 years....go with the Kawi if...

I have X-Trig clamps, so I didn’t need it. The Ride Mount came on my bike, I bought it used with 2.5 hours on it. I didn’t care for the fact that you can only run it in the rear mounting position and the extra bolts used to clamp the bars makes torqueing them a tedious process. If I ever go back to stock clamps, I’ll go with a Luxon bar mount.

Funny you say all that because I have the same mindset. Except I'm 45 with 2 boys that are in 9th and 7th grade next year that need to have pops around to pay for college in a few years.
