Is it just me or do people just not care about going fast in the pits and dusting everyone out anymore? Got kids trying to do wheelies and older guys speeding through the pits dusting everyone out at my local track. Just annoying. When my step dad first started taking me to the track when I was 10 he made sure I respected everyone in the pits and to not create a ton of dust. Any of you guys got this problem at your local track?

Constantly. But I'm pretty sure we ride a lot of the same tracks lol

There is a negative correlation between how fast you ride in the pits and how fast you ride on the track.

We always called them "Pit Squids". Can't do sh*t on the track so they try to look/act badass in the pits when the truth is everyone looks at them like clowns.

The track I grew up racing at required you to push your bike in the pits. I don't push at tracks where it isn't required, but the message stuck.

Pisses me off too but the worst is the kids that don’t ride the track but want to race around the pits on a pit bike with no helmet. I’d rather hit dirt on the track with a helmet than having my dome crater the back of a Chevy Express Van.

My Dad always made me ride in first gear, side saddle through the pits if it wasn't required to push. I mentioned this to a kid a few years ago, and he stared at me as lost as a whore in a church. "What's side saddle, is it a trick???"........
I felt 100 years old at that moment.

Racing in NE back in the 80s you could not ride in the pits. Went to Florida Winter Series one year and could ride in the pits. Seemed so much better than pushing back after a moto. I think 5 mph max and Hannah hops on his RM250 in '86 and does a nice wheelie across the pits. That thing sounded so crisp.

Had to push in the NESC series back in the early 2000's. Wasn't fun after a moto.

Funny how this rule applies worldwide. A friend of mine had an 85 flying on the hood of his van during a trip to Spain a few weeks ago. Apparently some goon kid was practicing his wheely skills in the pits

This issue is not about dust, it is about death. Someone will get killed, it has happened plenty in the past. Someone was killed this week, although it was more away from the pits, a head on in a pit bike "trail" that apparently hadn't been mowed or marked.

You stop it by telling the track owner you'll never be back if he allows it, and then police it yourself. Evidence of something like this on video will have the insurance pulled from the track in a heartbeat.

I've seen it at millville before and the medics quickly put an end to it. It was some wheelie boys making a dirt episode for their vlog.

Just peeped the scene to remind everyone it doesn’t matter if it’s in the pits or on the track, practice is practice and you better be winning it bros. Your quest for glory need not be challenged by insignificant considerations like public safety or sensibility, that’s just the man trying to keep you down and reap your rightful bounty.

Bonus points if they are operating a Polaris RZR 1000. So cool dude.... you're a badass. Double bonus points if you are the douche bag parent that allows their 9 year old kid to do it.

Most of the tracks I grew up had a 1st gear rule in the pits, and even if you didn't follow the "1st gear rule", you still rode with generosity of others and didn't dust them out.

but its 2019 everyone has to be like Axell Hodges tho bro and do fat wheelies for the ladies bruh

Parking lot goons really put a damper on Unadilla’s mx rewind for me and my family last year. I would like again to thank the staff for rectifying the situation.. but it definitely put a black eye on the event. I don’t understand how it’s not common knowledge anymore that if you pit race on full size bikes.. it’s not OK. Pet peeve. At another race I’ve had a kid slam into my vehicle who claimed the throttle got stuck.. (during his wheelie)

We were just talking about this exact topic this past weekend. At least 15 kids on pit bikes, shitty 90cc quads and even a couple side by sides right in the pits, riding wheelies, donuts, and racing. kicking up so much dust my ham sandwich was gritty. I normally wouldnt bitch or raise a stink but there were NO Parents around, NO helmets and NO supervison and what really pushed me over the edge was when one of them almost cleaned out my 4 yr old who was on his bicyle. I think for the most part we go above and beyond to ensure the safety of our kids on the track..6D Helmets, 600$ boots, the list goes on and on and if one of my kids were to get hurt off the track due to negligence of the kids or more importantly thier PARENTS...I WOULD LOSE MY MIND!

We always cruised in the pits slow and my kid had got the idea. I tell kids 2 time to slow it down then I throw rocks at them.

My kids love riding pit bikes, so do I. I avoid tracks that don't allow it.

I agree they can police it better, maybe pull the pit pass if the kids are blasting threw busy areas. If they are off in the back doing a turn track or whatever, I don't see the problem. Usually the kids riding pit bikes are no worse than the 50-85 riders blasting threw the pits after a moto.

The big races love charging per pit bike/vehicle too

Yes, this has been a big issue especially at the tracks that I typically go to. The biggest issues are kids on mini quads, kids in golf carts, guys who aren't riding that day but take their buddies bike for a pit rip, cocky C class wheelie boy dudes who smoke weed at the track (Yes, we can smell your dumb JUUL), and teenage spodes trying to show off in front of their girlfriends. All of the above doing stupid crap in between peoples trucks, trailers, or in front of vehicles trying to leave or enter the facility. Most everyone else at the track is civil and courteous to others. Keep it in first gear walking pace and give the right away to cars and trucks.

The irony of this topic coming up the week after an 18 and 13-year-old collided in the pits on the practice day before a state race this past weekend in Oklahoma. The 18-year-old, unfortunately, passed away in the mediflight.

The kids weren't in the pits per se but were 5th gear tapped down the trails that surround the place. The whole tone of the weekend was affected. We have a dangerous hobby, I get that, but there are still ways to be safe about it. Keep your bike in first gear unless you're on the weekend's race course or a designated course. God knows what will happen to the track owners/series after the dust settles on this one...

I used to get mad and step up to where they were and wave them down. Had a few mini-dads talk shit to me for telling their kid to stop that shit. Ridiculous. Not only the danger of hitting someone but hey man, I am cooling off here between motos and to have some little shit blasting noise and dirt and dust all over me isn't happening.

Never got into a fight luckily.

We had this issue with people this past weekend at Albany. Few adults , but mostly kids. One kid on a 65cc bike must of been doing about 50 mph and damn near lost it on the gravel road. Me personally , I still come off the track and ride all the way back to my van in 1st gear , or a real slow 2nd gear. I have guy's bombing past me. It comes down to being respectful of not dusting everyone out in the pits , or possibly hitting someone. Stupid fucker's that piss me off.
