At first i thought they kept the radiator shrouds to look like a honda... but now I see it has radiators. Anyone know Why?

My guess is to cool the batteries or motor... or its an oil cooler for same reasons.



Also note the shroud says CR


No chance they come with a-kit oem either...

Electric motors get HOT. Batteries get HOT. Just like an ICE bike, it needs to stay cool to run properly. If the battery overheats, the bike will shut down

Faster riders could put the Altas into a thermal protection mode to protect the battery from heat caused by a fast discharge. I have never had that issue with mine, but I'm not fast, and can't last long enough to go through more than half a battery charge at once.
There is a little coolant in an Alta, but no radiator.

There's plenty of room under / behind / In the black forward section, and above it. Have a squizz at a KTM Freeride E sometime for where it's battery is.

But, as it says on the Bike itself : "Proto".

It certainly looks a lot more 'normal' than their first 'E' CR showing:

The cooler you can keep the battery the longer it will keep its stored energy. Once it starts to overheat the energy stored inside starts to degrade. Also, you can run a smaller battery than say, the Alta, and get the same longevity on a charge.

It's wild to think but using KERS to help with battery longevity would work well on a dirtbike. Attaching something to the suspension, a steering damper, and brake calipers (or levers/pedals) to harvest energy from consant heat and movement would be awesome. The price tag would be absurd though.

Alta did have them. Kinda. The coolant just went through the frame instead of radiators

I’m not even gonna say anything negative here because I know how much good that did when 4 strokes came around. Guess my kids will be riding CR-E’s and YZ-E’s

Honda can go fuck itself for all I'm concerned, but I would be VERY interested in this bike. It's the future one way or another. No way around it. This looks amazing and seeing videos of guys like Josh Hill riding an Alta on tracks and in the hills close to cities looks like an absolute blast.

When I show up at Ray's indoor bike park or a good bike trail or the ski slope I get pretty psyched. It's just different.

I really want an electric motocross bike so I can build a track on our property and not piss off the neighbors...BUT (to me) the best part of going to a supercross/motocross race is the smell of race gas and the sound of an ICE!!

Major conflict on these electric bikes!

Bike looks awesome, but I think everyone is waaayy too optimistic about electric bikes saving mx. I just dont see it happening, but I hope like crazy Im wrong. People will complain about anything, noise is just the easiest target right now.

I would guess a model year 2021 release if they already have a prototype this close to the production model.

This probably already has 1-2 years of R&D behind it to get it to this point.
