My buddy broke his femur today ( vital visitor ).

We went and did a practice day at woodland WA today and a buddy of ours ended up breaking his femur right above the knee. Eric is a fast NW vet rider out here and a lot of guy's know him , quite a few on here I think. I've known and raced with Eric a long time , and he's a good dude. Just picked up 19' Husky TC250 freshie , and today was his first ride on it.

He's in the hospital now , but visits Vital quite a bit , so if you guy's have a minute , maybe give him a shout out to get well.

Wow! What a major gut punch.. fresh bike and I bet woodland was amazing today, too

Anyways, that sucks. Bad news. I work with him and grew up riding bmx, mtn and dirt bikes with him. Hopefully it’s a clean break .

I would have been at Woodland for my first PNW ride ever today if I didn’t do something bad to my ankle hiking God’s Thumb last weekend. I was super bummed and thought I had it bad for not being able to make it... Now I feel ridiculous and I hope your buddy has a speedy recovery!

Are you f&$king kidding me??!! He and I were just texting this week about he new bike, I know he was so pumped to get out there and get some time on it. Damnit.... not cool.

Yeah I know man , it sucks. I talked to him a bunch about it before we went out for first practice and a few times after. Last practice , the track was bombed out and super Freakin' rough. I came around a corner to see yellow flags , rolled over the top and saw it was Eric down. Went and parked my bike up against a tree and talked to him while he was down. He handled it like a champ , and by the time the ambulance showed up he was hurting pretty bad. Feel bad for him , especially since it was his first ride on that bike.

Having broken my femur about 10 years ago, and because of the rod being in there, broke my hip 9 months ago, telling him to remove the hardware after he heals up. I had no problems with my femoral rod, until I did. The removal is as bad as the fix, and will have him out for a good year, but eliminate potentially greater problems in the future.

Do they always put a rod in now days? The femur is one of the only bones I have left , that I haven't broke ( knock on wood. ).
