Lets hope DC can find a replacement track that has green grass, green trees and black dirt. Really over watching pro races at burned out desert looking locations.

That would really suck if there’s no GH. But we all know of the rumor that DC stormed out of that one meeting with Bud years ago, and DC is the big shot these days. I drove down to Pala when they pulled this last time, and we couldn’t even get in because the parking situation was so poorly managed, turned around and spent 8 hours in the car. Bravo, big shots. This sucks.

Unfortunately, there isn’t much left of Kenworthy’s. Here are some pics I took recently. The middle pic is the starting gate/concrete pad. If it wasn’t for the concrete and knowing where it was, I would never have found it. It was definitely sad seeing it taken over by nature.

If Pala gets the call, please tell the morons taking the tickets to let the people park first, then have people pay for their tickets. It's not a drive-in theater. The last National at Pala, I missed the 1st Motos because there is only 1 entryway for 5,000+ fans!

Maybe GH will get a 2019 USGP instead . . . ?

Bud Feldkamp is apparently quite the personality and doesn't want to flex to certain requests necessary to host a National. Last time we had this issue and it looked like Glen Helen was done forever Tom White swooped in and mediated everyone to the bigger picture. It would suck to see it go as it's a legendary track. Blame the track owner.

They are talking about moving Washougal to after Hangtown so that way they aren't criss-crossing the country in the middle of the summer. Would be the biggest help to privateers.
Didn't Bud try to tell Eli that he had to ride down a certain area of the track and high five fans?.......LOL

Wow!! That’s insane how it has gotten pretty much unrecognizable now. I have many memories of warching the pros as a kid and racing my pw50 on the little track. What a shame

From the little bit I've heard, unless something very big has changed in the last week or so, I wouldn't expect to be back at GH this summer.

A Washougal date change would be cool, and would save teams and privateers a ton of dough in fuel traveling all the way across the country...and all the way back. I approve of that message. But I don't see it happening in '19.

Pala wouldn't be a bad bet.

Fake news?
Roger D is racing again next year.
Guy B -

I'm not sure that is fake news......this guy that we both know who is buddies with a guy at KTM talked to someone that was at the Baker compound and he saw Roger talking to Aldon about riding and training........so....maybe there is a comeback in the works. Something about RBSR and two strokes got him thinking again......

Happy Thanksgiving everyone !!

I will say, Kenworthys had probably the best dirt on the circuit, a by product of being next to a river, sadly, being next to a river also leaves a very high risk of flooding, especially if you schedule the race in late summer when we get a high number of thunderstorms and flash flooding. Early summer would have been a much better time to run Kenworthys race.

And I will also admit, Kenworthys wasn’t the greatest for spectator viewing. Nice that it had some decent shade trees, but those trees make better doors than windows.

Hell yeah. I live right down the road from that place. It is a struggle to not eat there every day. There's actually a really good bbq and pizza place right in the same strip.

Maybe you're being sarcastic I don't know but it's funny when you see some of the same people who criticize SX looking for a live stream when it starts up.

Glad to see it off the schedule. Desert racing might be fun to do but is horrible on TV.

If it’s at Pala, do they build a new track or combine the main and AM tracks? At any rate the current tracks are on a pretty flat piece of ground. I would assume that spectating would suck unless you were lucky/early enough to cop a spot on the fence.
The original national track was split into the Main and Amateur tracks. I would love race the full national track again (amateur level).

IF DC moves the SoCal National back to Pala it is going to cause a lot of people from LA to stay home. The Greater Los Angeles area is huge. I'm on the Coast just south of LAX and it takes me almost 2 hours to get to Glen Helen

If it's at Pala were on the get a campsite or room at the casino and ride in on dual sports or bicycles plan, no way I'm dealing with the unavoidable clusterfuck on the 76 again. No way no how, that was a lesson in frustration I haven't forgot. Might be a good excuse to spend Friday and Saturday nights there. That's the only positive I see over GH. Just god please don't have it at Elsinore again

Went to Pala in 2010 and it was the biggest shitshow disaster I have ever been to.Took over 3 hours to from temecula parkway to the track, then took another 3-4 hours to get back to temecula parkway. I spent well over 8 hours total drive time. Not to mention hiking 3 friggin miles from parking to the track. I'll never go there for another national.

Fast forward to Elsinore. Another catastrophe. Hours of waiting to park. Finally get parked. It was 105-108 degrees and we get told no ice chests, no coolers, can't bring any drinks in. WTF??? Fine, hike through that dusty parking lot AGAIN after going back to drop off our ice chests. Get inside and there's only one place for shade under the red bull canopy. Middle of summer, baking ass hot sun, and to make matters worse the beer got hot at the beer stands. Then the place actually runs out of bottled water to sell. AN OUTDOOR MOTOCROSS RAN OUT OF WATER IN SOCAL. All there was left was red bulls. Great, exactly what you DONT want when your dying of thirst.

Glen Helen has their shit together. Parking can be a bear but its way better than elsinore and pala. Plenty of food, plenty of water, plenty of beer. Amazing places to watch the race all over. Fairly easy to get out. If its not going to be Glen Helen Im staying home. Its just not worth trying to deal with the crowds, traffic, heat, and insanely greedy promoters and their lack of planning anymore.

if Glen Helen is gone it’s ok cause then another track gets to experience the excitement and rewards of having the event. Right now rumors are flying around and until DC confirms it that’s all it is a rumor.
If it comes back I know what my jobs are and will get them done. If not I get vacation days to do what I want. I hope wherever it is it’s a success.
Life is to short to cry over spilt milk ? Life is to short and there is no trial run.

Ok if I can read between the lines you guys at GH are getting prepared to have some time off.
some of these tracks are always 'on the chopping block' usually its contractual agreements and GH has been around this block before.

Won't know till schedule comes out.

I couldn't agree with you more, Pala is a great track for riding, not for a national.

Less man made outdoor tracks, back to some natural terrain. I really can’t get excited about Fox Raceway. Man made berms, man made jumps, zero terrain, zero off-camber, etc.
