You want an orgasm from riding a bike? My son has one of these and it will give you mutiple orgasms, if you're man enough to open the throttle!

The 1290s are sweet but you can't open them up without getting arrested. The RD/RZ 350/400 you could howl from 1st to 4th, feel like you're doing mach chicken and look down and see 60mph. To me thats more fun than a super fast modern bike. That's why I sold my Z1000

Definitely a problem with all that power, but the 1290's handle so damn good. I've ridden quite a few different types of street bikes over the years and NOTHING comes close to the handling of a 1290. Maybe I need to keep trying bikes, but this one is quite the bike.

Friend of mine who owns a multi line shop can ride whatever he wants and rides the 1290 the most.

These are some fine bikes, be careful and please enjoy. This is how I rolled back in the last century, nineteen and eighty. I was doin' over a hundred on the 405 freeway chasing my buddy on his CB750F when my 400 seized up!Woohoo

I love 2 stroke street bikes! I am working on restoring this right now. Doesn't stop, doesn't turn but goes really fast in a straight line.

The A7 would, in a straight line.
They had rotary fuel induction. Looked like a flywheel with a chunk cut out. It would trap the intake like a reed valve. But, they didn't have the disc brake, and were kinda squirmy in the twisties.

Did someone say CB 750F?

My '79. First year double overhead cam. Original paint. Saved it with $1,000 when I saw it in a guy's garage in pieces, was gonna chop it up and make a cafe racer. Bars and pipe, and a few secret things in the motor are the only changes from stock.

My brother had a really nice rd400 Daytona special I use to ride often, fun bike on short rides. We built this 1986 RG 500 a few years ago.

Thanks for the tip! I have done a few things like stiffer fork springs with a valving mod, longer rear shocks and a shorter swingarm from an earlier model. This is supposed to help a bit and I know some bracing can be added to the frame but I didn't go that far.

That TZ on its own wins. Trickest vintage bike you’ll ever see.

Those sexy TZR250s on the first page are absolutely awesome bikes. They’re the street legal cousin of the TZ250, the TZ nomenclature was what Yamaha used for their GP(race only) bikes. Think of it like a YZ450F vs a WR450 if they were street legal.

They make excellent road racing bikes when set up correctly. Give that thing a port job and some good carbs and it’s a god damn rocket. We are always playing with the fork height depending on the track though

We eventually switched our race bike to Honda cartridge fork internals because the Yami forks just weren’t right for our use. Our street RD350 still has stock(ish) forks.

Gil from Works Performance was a good friend of my dad so we never ran the stock shocks

Not a 2 stroke but a similar era - my late fathers 1980 Suzuki GSX1100.
Beleive it or not this has covered 83,000 miles. The engine was rebuilt to 1170cc and re painted, and everything was given a thorough clean and polish this past winter.
There's just something about riding an older bike that you don't get with a modern. Really good fun!
