Got my first bike DT 125 January 1981, 16 years old. Second bike IT 175, September 1981, first race a week later.
Makes that 35 years of racing. A bit more selective of what I race now but still ride every week.

First "dirt bike" was a Rupp Hustler 1972? First MX race I showed up with a 1974ish Yamaha DT100 with rubber foot pegs, trials tires and it was a mudder!! (dumbass) That same day at the race my dad paid $300 to buy me a "real" motocross bike, a TM125. (1975?) I rode it and it was slow as shit, then someone said to rev the engine more, BBRRAAAAAAP!!!!!!! I was hooked!!! That was the first time I "was on the pipe"!! HAHA Kind of hung it up in 1980, then picked it up again in 2011, with a 2007 YZ250F

Went to my first race 21 years ago and got my first bike 20 years ago. Still checking races to this day .. but sadly without a bike myself for the past 4 years.

Started on a worn out XR75 back in 1980 at the age of 7. Lotsa water under the bridge since that spring day.

Been around it since I was 12 years old , so that makes it 39 years - wow damn I am getting old. I started racing when I was 15 and have ridden or raced off and on ever since. Just sold my bike a month or so ago and deciding what to get for next year.

I am 29, raced my first race at Angels Stadium in LA on a JR50 as part of the Mickey Thompson Series half time show when I was 4 years old. So been around the sport for 25 years. Been at it ever since. Found some funny oldies:

40 years riding, 39 since my first race.. Although I did switch to car racing for 5 years because of family pressure to "Stop with those dangerous bikes" "You have a wife and son" lectures. Once they saw a car flip 5 times down the front straightaway right in front of me, I think they realized Moto x might not be so bad..
Tried to give the Moto X 100% effort this past season only to destroy my back in June. Still recovering from Surgery.. and heading for a possible 2nd one.

Since 1961, my friend let me learn on his 650 Triumph. Luckily I didn't ruin his bike. I bent the shift lever back 180 degrees as his bike sideswiped an oak tree after I bailed off. Luckily it was a 5 mph bailout, and the bike was okay, with just the bent shift lever. The steel was malleable enough that he was able to straighten it out without it snapping in half. 1963, 1964, AFM # 74 Yamaha YDS-1 250cc road racer. Willow Springs, and Santa Barbara Airport in conjunction with SCCA sports car races. Too poor, and no family backing to buy a Yamaha TD-1B road racer. !965 joined Army, and never motorcycle raced again. In 1970's I took up bicycle racing, and did pretty good considering running a business, and family responsibilities.

Started on a 1969 Honda Trail 50, first race 1973 on a Honda SL70, later that year on a XR75. Raced till I was 18 years old, last bike was a 1981 Husky Cr 250, then an old friend tracked me down, and got me started vintage racing in 2001. Now own a 1973 Husky cr250,1980 Husky cr250, and a 2001 Husky cr250. Do all my own work on them mostly. I mainly like to ride at Rio Bravo Mx park in Houston, Tx., and race every once in a while! Damn I need to go riding.

I was riding into work a couple days ago. After our eternally long winter, the riding season has just started. Anyhow, as I was enjoying the warmth and sun, riding my scoot I thought to myself: "Self, you've been riding motorcycles for 50 years". So there you go...50 years. (that's all kinds of motorcycles, but most hours have been on dirt)

One of the fastest 60+ year olds on the planet. While I had a lot of fun chasing you around, before I got hurt, I always knew you were toying with me.... Cool

I started racing in 1977 at Indian Dunes, took a few breaks in between, but I'm still at it after several hospital visits. Wink
Hey! What about me Sean? Sept. 1968 Taco66. Blow that Taco22 into the weeds. So it’s my 50 year anniversary.

Started riding in '74 on a Rupp Roadster. Started racing in '76 on the 125 Elsinore...raced heavy through HS then college years and getting career going I was just to poor! Then about '88 got back into it and have not stopped for the most part. MOTO is in my blood. Best times ever where getting my son into it and 26 years later he's still riding and starting a family. This grandkid will be riding a powered moto-skooter before a peddle bike!
Riding tomorrow!

Any dude that started on a Taco has my respect.
State of the art cantilever swing arm and dual hydraulic shock absorbers.
So much more to say about that photo. Classic Gold.
