Best: 2010 YZ250F - old Motoconcepts bike with A kit, Xtrig, it was truly a race bike, joy to ride, I progressed a lot on it and felt faster, could hold on longer than normal.

Honorable mention: My current 2017 Husky FX350, its the ultimate for a desert goon that hits tracks once in a while

Worst: 1994 KX 250

Worst: 89 CR 250, Head-Shaking pile of shit.

And 1982 KX 125.

Best: 1981 Rm 125. Cool to have the first year water cooled bike.

and 05 to 17 YZ 250

Worst was my 2003 ktm125sx. It had a great motor but the suspension was awful. I had it revalved by mx tech and they probably made it as good as it could get, but I still hated it. Best bike is probably my current 2009 kx250f, with factory connection suspension. It's still a great bike but will get replaced this year since she's getting long in the tooth.

Best 1998 xr100, had it from new, still own it, still abuse it and never had anything more than a flat tire. Best wheelie machine ever made.
(2017 ktm450 is pretty good too)

Worst 2012 ttr230, lots of annoying little issues, shit clutch, tempramental carby. Poor handling.

Relative to what was available at the time, the 85 yz250 was the best bike.

These are just off performance and have nothing to do with quality.
Best-, 2017 kx250f bikes does everything well, 05 rm250 2 stroke, crf450 was good too. 2015 yz125, older bikes i love the 1988 cr250
Worst- 2012 rmz450, worst handled Los I've ever ridden in stock form. 2002 .yz426 yami heavy turd horrible handling

Worst: 1998 YZ250, slow, super stiff suspension that still managed to bottom whenever the tires left the ground. I found out what bar pads were for on this bike....
Best: I really liked my 04 KX250, I just really gelled with it. It did however have a tendency to buck me over the bars whenever I cased anything.

Worst? Easy-1981 CR 125 & CR 250. Terrible bikes. Best? I would change this to favourite. 1978 RM 125-loved it. 1999 Yamaha YZ 400-my first 4 stroke-game changer. 2002 Yamaha YZ250. Great bike. 2003 Yamaha YZ450F-best motor ever.

Best.... In all my years in this sport, no bike has ever made me feel invincible like the 1983 KX 80. With modern suspension, braking, that fucker would be competitive to this day. It's the stuff off legend.... My 1989 Suzuki RM 80's weren't very far behind either btw....
Worst....1997 CR 250. Only bike I ever rode that made my bones and muscles hurt without crashing. No give, no flex, all abrupt chassis shock came right back to the poor bastard riding it. Hated that damn thing to the core..... sold it to a newbie who thought the frame looked "dope". Little did he know, mass quantities of "dope" would be needed to enjoy owning it. Bought a new Suzuki and began to enjoy riding pain free again...... That fucking Honda hated human beings.
That is one of the best EVER descriptions ever of the 97" CR 250! Haha! I was on kawi's at the time....but I rode the Honda...and OMG you nailed it perfectly.

check out this badass test: Smile the '83 KX80 was truly awesome!

I still think that the '83 & '84 KX80s were the best looking mini bikes of all time. I always felt really cramped riding them, but solely based on looks, there's nothing better to me.

Umm, after 9 years on vital, it might be time to give Tyler an age and/or bike upgrade... Although I guess Bart Simpson has remained ageless...

WORST - 2009 CRF450, never could get it started.

BEST - 1984 CR500, handles better, more powerful than my modern RMZ450.

Best : 2010 crf250r - was the first brand new bike I bought. Also my 2013 zx636r was my first time on a track, I loved that bike.

Worst : All the shit box bikes I had growing up. I had zero mechanical knowledge and zero dollars.
1988 Xr 100
1989 Rm125
19?? Xr200 or 400 think it was 200 motor in 400 frame.

Best bikes I have owned is kind of a tie between the 2014 KTM SX 250 and the 2016 Husqvarna FC 450 and maybe my 2004 SX 200.
The worst bike I have personally owned was my 2008 KX 250, it didn't ride badly but we have never had this much trouble with any bike bought from brand new.
The worst bike i have ever ridden was probably the 2009-10ish Husqvarna TC 449. Everything about that bike was weird.

Best= yzf250 2006 - had my best results on this bike. Loved the power range on this bike although it wasn't best at corners.

Worst = cr125 2000- slowest and hardest bike to ride I've owned(build quality was brilliant though).

Best: 1982 RM 250

Worst: 1982 RM 250

That bike was a rocket and when things were right it was amazing, but it was a ticking time bomb!!

I've only had 2 bikes in total.

Worst: '07 CRF250. Thing bogged like hell.

Best: '10 CRF250. EFI is such a relief.

Best: Love my 09 YZ250F, between the amazing SSS forks and the Athena 290 Big Bore kit, its sooo easy to ride.
Worst: 02 KTM525SX, loved the power, sadly the suspension was brutal. Impossible to start hot.
4/14/2017 9:29am
Worked at a Suzuki shop in 81, and this YZ helped me sell tons of RM 125's. Everybody that had one , F-ing hated it,

Best- Any of my Honda 450s. 07 was close second and 2013 best. 07 had more power to me but the 13 was just so reliable and easy to ride.

Worst- 03 KTM 450 by a mile. Like turning a rhino

Worst: 09 CRF 250R, Fucking thing would need a goddamn miracle to start. Always losing compression due to tin foil valves. But, the power and handling was really good if you could get past the shitty motor probs.

Best: Probably a tie between my 13 YZ 250F and 12 YZ 450. The 250 handled like it was on velcro, suspension was superb, and the damn thing would not break. Underpowered? yes, but with some mods it was a great race bike. The 450 gets a ton of smack, but it's powerful and fast. If you could get the bike setup down on that bike it's a lot of fun to ride!

Best: 1981 RM125. Unbelievable what a step up that was!

Worst: 2004 CR250R. How did they actually produce that engine? No bottom end, a switch went off and it ran like a raped ape. But at least the handling wasn't great either.

Best: 2012 CRF250R. Love the handling and with some motor work, it goes just fine for me.

Worst. 1991 YZ125. Everything that could break, broke and it was as slow as a week in jail.

This is tricky for me, because I've gotten into Revolution/Vintage in the past few years, so now I'm seeing some of these old bikes through a 2017 lens.

Worst: 1988 KX 80 Big Wheel. Bought it brand new, and even as a slow mini beginner I managed to crack the frame in multiple places within a month. Honorable Mention: 1978 YZ 400 (always blubbered and seemed to have no torque despite its considerable weight), 1988 RM 125: Actually slower than the 1976 model I replaced it with, but maybe I did something wrong.

Best:
4T: 2006 CRF 450 - comfortable bike, fast, relatively light, excellent suspension once revalved. Raced it in 2014-2015 and would probably still have it if some dirtbag hadn't stolen it. Replaced it with a '12 RMZ 450 and never felt as comfortable on that bike as the old CRF.
2T: 1989 YZ 125 - I won my first race on this bike, and beat the crap out of it in races and nearly daily practice for two years with no significant failures (ignition went out once). Honorable mention to my current 2006 YZ 125, that little bike also takes a beating and leaves me smiling after every ride!
