WADA stole 2 years of racing from JS7 and the fans.

Sure James messed up, but that penalty was not fair in any way.
His entourage of advisors and hanger ons that didn't read the fine print re prescriptions cost him that 16 months, not WADA. I do think there is no reason for WADA to be in this sport, but it's also the riders job to know and follow the rules. All he had to do was get the TUE. Look at team sky, they most likely were cheating in every sense of the term, but they followed the rules to a T when it came to banned substances and TUEs.

I wish James the best if he is actually retiring. Wife and kids change your outlook on life as there is there is more after moto. From the outside looking in it just seemed like the video's were he stated about contending again in 2017 were more about trying to lure another team into paying him when he didn't look prepared after the WADA suspension.

I saw the movie so the only thing that is obvious is your assuming I didn't. Also I didn't fall off the truck yesterday so I don't click on links provided by fellow Vital MXers. Getting Rick Rolled once was enough :-)

Rumor and officially in the same sentence? Must be a James Stewart thread. Went to Hangtown this year to watch the Nationals, but can't deny another motivator was possibly seeing him out there for the last time. Wish him well whatever he chooses.

Some of you keep repeating the exact same thing. I posted a rumor about him retiring and that there is suppose to be an official announcement in the next week or two either right before or during the A1 broadcast. The rumor is this is suppose to happen....calling it an official retirement would need to come from James himself. I just put up what i heard. Take it for what it's worth.

Forgot about RC! Whoops! But really though...guys with less accolades and results got brand ambassador positions. If you want to take a snapshot of JS last year, I agree....but as a whole, I'd say he'd be a pretty solid and recognizable rep for any brand.

Anybody ever think that James might suffer from C.T.E ?? If he is going to announce it then the press conference on Thursday would be perfect.

Well feld announced the riders that will attend press conference and Stewart was not on the list so doubt he will announce retirement at the press conference like the rumors going around.

WADA went to bat for him with FIM and tried to keep him from being suspended. FIM suspended him, against WADA advice. Taking it out on the wrong governing body.

yup, when the suspension went down, I knew it was an end of an era. same gut feeling I got when Hannah broke his leg skiing. But I was so stoned most of the time back then (on shitty pot) I barely remember it, so what do I know.

I'll be glad when he's finally gone, sure I liked watching him ride when he would. But every year his fanboys act like if he isn't racing that American MX/SX is over. these fanboys will either leave or they will realize that the sport will go on just fine without him.

Isn't the whole "brand ambassador" thing just a churched up word for test rider? MC and RV do testing for Kawasaki and rumor has it RC and JS couldn't set up a bike anyone else would care to ride.

If he does retire at A1 I think it really shows his true character (in a bad way). Doing these videos whining and crying about his hands hurting and not being in shape, and all the other BS then say I'm not done I'm coming back for my fans just shows he's gutless. He's a drama queen and it would prove he purposely lied and waited until the season started to quit to avoid any fan backlash during the off season.
please grow up and educate yourself about TBI and concussions. You sound like a clown.

I would totally retire too if I were him for one reason: concussions. The dude has had so many, if he has one more big one, it could cause serious damage. The dude is set for life, has a kid, hell I would go buy a pad in the Bahamas and live the good life if I were him.

Might be, but no way in hell would I want RV doing testing for me if I was about any other pro.

Dude rode unlike anyone since maybe RJ, total rear end steerer.

If this is true I'm just happy the guy's going out on his own terms and not because he physically can't anymore. Sometimes enough is enough, and good on him to be able to make that call. People bag on his Millville ride this year, but the fact that he can still go out there and get 10th after probably not riding at all is crazy to me.

This. When you look at his career, the dude won almost every race he entered or crashed. You can hate on the guy, but he was always there. From his debut in 2003(?) until 2014 he was winning races and if he was winning them it was in dominant fashion. It irritates me a lot that people whine about his whole family, but they seem to forget that his mom and dad sacrificed everything to make his dream come true. So ofcourse he wants them to stick by him. He has proven himself more then enough to retire and enjoy golfing, take time with his kid and his family. After so many crashes, concussions and setbacks it is not that weird if he things it isn't worth it to do anymore. I really hope that he lines up at a1, but I think we have seen the last from him..

If he does actually retire from racing, I can't imagine he would give up riding entirely. I'm sure if the rumour is true then we'll see him at the Straight Rhythm in 2017 and hopefully a few other bespoke races. It would be awesome if he did the odd few international races as a bow out.
