Where do you buy your parts and accessories? Online or from your local dealer?

Both...right now I am in awe of a couple or real motoheads here in the hi dez "Avid Cycles" they price match anything if theirs is not already the best and I can buy online or in store....

Online 100%. US sites only.

Even with the hefty shipping it still works out way cheaper than local sellers.

I've always preferred the dealer.... however they do not inventory parts anymore... so by the time you drive there, they order the part(s), they receive them and then you drive back..... online wins!

Dealers that do not have an online store need to do so......

Local dealer and e-bay/craigslist: for atv, bike, snowmobile.
Local dealer is phenomenal and about 5mi away.

I buy from both. I buy from a local retailer mostly, but I get a lot of the Rocky Mtn $10 gift cards for signing up to race. I usually order from rocky man once or twice a year.

Local dealer who also happens to sponsor my son and has always taken care of us.

I exclusively buy online until yesterday. Local dealership had the full oem fork bushing /seal set for 20 bucks cheaper than online. Also fork oil was same price as online. Ill still price shop. However had to eat my words yesterday

Most of the indipendant dealers are vanishing, taken over by a monster dealer network selling all brands on one site.( peter stevens)

We used to get massive racer discounts, now thats all gone.
Hardly any performance accessories in stock.

The staff used to race, now its mostly girls or road riders, harley people.

If i have to wait a week for a pipe or cam, i might as well get it from the USA and cheaper.

I try to buy and support my local shops, I know I pay a little more but I like to go in there and bullshit also. But if I need something quick that the local shops don't have I go with Rocky Mountain they are the shit!!

Mostly online, but I stop by Escondido Cycle Center in Escondido, CA from time to time to pick stuff up when I actually do find the rare extra time to and opportunity to ride nowadays. Friendly/helpful people over there!

I would have to drive over an hour to get to a store that carries parts I would need. I save gas/mileage on my car and get good deals online. Typically buy from RMATV or Motosport. If im desperate and immediately in need of basic things I go down the street to cycle gear but my god the prices! it's hard to believe that in the Los Angeles area we don't have a shop like chapparal or something that actually stocks things. I would love to support a local dealer that didn't tell me they had to order what I need... I can do that myself and get 3 day free shipping. Bummer. I would love to support someone local.

I try to shop local when it's economical. I'd rather pay 10% more locally and not have to wait for shipping. Anything higher than that and I use Motosport.


Been shopping at Motosport since at least 2002 or 2003. Back then I wanna say it was "Motosports Outlet." Never experienced anything less than top notch service there!

I try to buy local but if I don't it is mainly Rocky Mountain for online.

Both for me. Online and a couple local shops like Motosports and a smaller shop up the road called bent lever. Both great shops.

Other than OEM parts and a few sponsor brands that I get direct, I try to buy everything else at my local shop. Once in a while if I have a big order to make on stuff that the local dealer can't come remotely close with, such as tires, I'll mail order. I've always used BTO for those needs, they've been great to deal with.

I buy oil from the dealer because they stock it.

Almost everything else from Motosport, rocky mountain, revzilla, or where ever else I can get it for the best price.

I buy tear offs and oil from a dealer...and I still have to cross my fingers on the way there they have them in stock.

If dealers would actually stock parts I have no problem supporting them (even if it costs a bit more)...but I'm not going to drive to the dealer only to have them order the part, then have to drive back two days later to pick it up when Rocky Mountain can have it on my door step the next day.

And for what its worth, Rocky Mountain has some dealerships...and they don't stock parts there either.

I'm that guy who gets pissed that people don't shop local.

With that said, it's no longer plausible for me to buy from the local dealer.

The guys don't know what they're doing which is fine if they're nice, but they're not. They always tell you they'll get ahold of the dealer and call you back but never do and overall I've never left the place and thought it was even remotely a good experience.

I don't ask for a discount.
I'm happy to wait.
I know what I'm getting and have never returned anything.
I'm an easy costumer.

I'd hate to see what orhers say about them.

I usually only go to the dealer when I need something right away that I think they may have in stock. Otherwise, 90% online. I just don't generally like going to the dealer, paying more for the part, having to wait and having them talk to me about how I need to be on whatever new 4 stroke they are selling that I don't want.

I guess it also sucks that there is no new bike that I want, so I don't even enjoy window shopping for bikes anymore.

P.S. I may have to buy new helmet for my little girl and some boots for me. Those I will most likely get local just to make sure I like them.

As bad as the dealers are in this town. 90% online. OEM KTM or Husa parts from 3Bros. Got three bikes from there now. Kaw parts online.

My local shop is where i get things like tyres, oil, levers, grips etc. They always have those in stock and are 5 minutes from me. I also order any parts like pistons and rings and bearings off them. They aren't a dealer, they are a motorcycle mechanic so they actually know what they are on about and i grew up reaching with them. They don't stock riding gear so i generally get that online or drive to one of the big dealers to try new stuff on. Becoming a regular at a small shop has advantages. I'm always getting better prices than what's advertised cos they look after me

I try to support local dealers they just make it so damn hard. when ever I got into a new dealership ill let them know im a racer and that be default ill be buying a lot of stuff. I don't ask that they match the online price but a break from full retail would be nice. a few times it started out good but it always ends the same way. they start inflating the price before giving a discount.

the last time I was in a hurry for a part, they didn't stock in but I knew tucker rocky did and I knew the retail price. I show up to pick up the part and had an estimate in my head what the total should have been. when they ring me up its way off. I ask if they applied my usual discount and he said yes. so I paid and went home. when I got home I noticed even though everything came from tucker rocky that there was price tags from the dealership on them. I did the math and the inflation in price matched the discount given.

I tried one more time with that dealership and told him I needed a lot of parts and he didn't seem interested. they offered $5 off a $500 dollar order.

Local. I drive past Magic Racing on the way home from work so it's convenient to use them. If I'm not in a hurry for what I need/want, I use a dealer a few minutes north of my home. Bennett Powersports.

I love to support the dealers but unfortunately most the time I go out of my way to get there and they don't have what I need in stock. On top of that if they do have it, it will cost more than online.

So i've pretty much given up on buying from shops unless it's something I need that day or the next day.

My dealer RE Motors is pretty much amazing so i get 80% of my stuff from them.
