They are the ones with the most money and also they could have kids that ride and race. With the younger generation, they are mainly supported by their parents and when that runs out, they lose interest and may not race/ride as much on their own dime. I see both ways though. If there are not young people in this sport, it will never grow.

I have not raced since April of 2001 when i broke my right scaphoid in the then 250B/Intermediate class (yes 2 stroke) at Speedworld in Phoenix Az. I could usually hang with my buddies that rode in the local expert/ pro class in practice but not on race day! I gave up riding unti last year and I am now a professional practicer but now that i moved to Las Vegas I am considering doing a REM race and not sure what class i would ride.... Something Vet +40 and something slower than intermediate Tongue

I still ride and race occasionally, mainly MX and Grand Prix races here in Illinois. Plus 50 class now as of 2 weeks ago....LOL. Don't really care to jump much anymore for some reason. Used to race alot from like 1981 to like 2000 than marriage and kids took over.

Still have two boys that race alot so at the track all the time.

Ill be up there at the end of October. We are hoping to stay a couple of extra days this years. We split our time between the Sellards and the Callahans. Haha, yeah, he still has the energy of a 6 year old....insane.

Just started racing again last year after a 10 year break. I won the MX2 Novice class and got 4th in +30. I started this year slower and more out of shape than last after a long shoulder injury recovery so same classes again, 1st and 3rd. Next year I'll race B/intermediate whether I feel ready or not, it will force me to actually get in shape between now and then.

I was racing the D37 B Vet Lightweight GP and B Vet All in the WSGP series for the last year and a half, just got bumped up to the A class over the summer break so I guess I'll be testing out the waters once the series starts the fall swing. Do a few enduros here and there all over the west coast, I know someone mentioned MRAN, they had a nasty enduro a few summers ago outside of Dayton, NV; so damn hot not too many people finished it, don't know if I was a lucky one to finish it or the dumb one to go out for the second loop.

Cam Nasty, with you being like 6'10'' 475lbs, I have no clue how you even ride, and on 125/144s on top of that. I applaud it. It would be like me riding an 85, and if thats all I had to ride, I can't say I would. Unless it was a DMC, i'd rip that. Tim Horton's forever, though.

I've been riding since 5 but didn't start racing until I was 36. That was ten yrs ago. I've never been fast but there is no bigger rush than getting a holeshot at a track like High Point. My best moment racing was beating a few youngsters one weekend at Fly MX Park in open C.I was about 42 at the time and beat all of em' except for one 16 yr old I couldn't pass.Laughing

It would be interesting to know which members race and what class you race in. I think its interesting to see the comments for some people on whether they know from experience or if they are good at studying and analyzing (like technique, what have you).

I personally race Pro/AA on the east coast and Sportsman A in the GNCC's. I'm pretty washed up but did well back in the day.

What class do you race or do you even race?
GNCC 40+B....(43 years old)currently 8th in points. Mostly due to the fact that my fitness has been nonexistent this season. I'm now on a fitness/nutrition program...
GNCC 40+B....(43 years old)currently 8th in points. Mostly due to the fact that my fitness has been nonexistent this season. I'm now on a fitness/nutrition program, working my butt off to be ready for the end of our summer break. Going to be out for blood at Unadilla GNCC. I still have the fire in my belly...and good insurance Cool .

Formerly CRA Bomber class harescramble champion in 2009 (was 37) and 4th overall on the year. Raced sporadically 2010-2013...won a few series locally, made an unprepared run at Bomber Bike in 2012 and finished 2nd on the year. Was pissed about that. Would have been 6th in 40+ B GNCC last season, but didn't get 9 races.

Next race will be Crow Canyon this coming Sunday. It's a 2 man, 4 hour event. I intend to do it Ironman...all 4hrs. See where I'm at and all.

Edit: I moto sometimes too...did the amateur day at High Point after the national and got 2nd in my class.
I won the Open A class in our local WNYOA offroad series last year, this year decided to try AA locally but haven't made it to a local race since chasing the GNCC's this year and some nagging injury stuff. Racing Open A at the GNCC's getting my doors blown off! I'm 29 so its cool just for the experience of traveling the GNCC stuff, its been a blast so far. It would probably help if I did something, anything, to be in some sort of shape for the GNCC's though. I'm weighing in at a solid 310 lbs right now, just riding around out there! Still hoping I can earn a two digit number at the end of the year. But having fun is all that matters!

Roostermx58, harescrambled, it'd be cool to catch up with you guys, put a face to these names on here

PS, I can't wait to until I can ride the Vet class!

I just run Steele Creek and Big Buck every year. I have no desire to chase the series like you do. I finish ok (around top 10 in SportA) and even podium-ed Steele creek back in 2007. There are some fast riders in that morning race so its still pretty competitive. It would be cool to put faces with names for sure!

Raced about three years in my late teens in So Cal.
Had to stop racing to go to Aviation school full time but kept my bike and still rode in the hills and we made some awesome tracks.

One of them MXA claimed and called it "Unadilla West" but we knew who really created it.

Job moved to AZ and I turned 30 and went desert racing and we won the ADRA Team Trophy in 1988.

In 1989 the Honda Bucks program started and I got heavily into that and won about $11K and had new bikes every year. That was cool and we had some good times.

Raced a lot in my 40's and 50's in the Master class, but have not raced for the last few years.
I just turned 57 Sunday and not sure if I will race again, but I never say never.

Still have five bikes and have been having a blast doing off road and street riding.

As long as I can walk I will always have a motorcycle. Smile

That's true...the vet, senior, and master classes in our desert series are HUGE! There are a lot of vet, senior and master guys in the top 10 overall in our desert series. As a vet guy, I think its cool that old guys are still mixing it up...but its unfortunate that there aren't a ton of fast teenagers beating up on us old guys. There has to be for the sport to grow.

Started in '77 racing mini class. After thousands of hours of practice and lots of determination I turned PRO at 16 in 1985. Parents made me finish school, so in 1987 I began chasing the dream...10 years of it. Now at 46 I ride often and still race vet classes a few times a year.

Haven't raced yet since I had surgery on my ankle in fall. Raced mostly +25A and Open A as well as a few AA harescrambles. In the Midwest. Mainly WI. Am now eligible for +30A so I will probably just race +25A and +30A unless I feel like racing with the kids for some crazy reason.

If they want to, they can.

It's always taken most of my money, and time.
Thing is, you can't expect to have the latest gear, the new bike every year, and someone to get you to the track.

If one concentrates on conditioning, practicing, keeping the bike, whatever it is, running as strong as possible,
And work a job to pay for it, it's as possible as it ever was.

Ain't nothing better than waxing the guy in the motor home on a 5 year old clapped out pos.
