Reed will be on factory Honda next year, taking Eli's spot and 22 Motorsports will be no more.

You're right, it was Frank S., I need to do more research instead of listening to my wife,, 23 year's of marriage and I still fall prey to the Evil woman. Evil wife quoted, "Reed would do better on a KTM."

I just don't think he's digging the bikes to be honest. Poor setups make a guy struggle and it does nothing but blow a guys confidence after a while. Whatever the case , I hope he figures it out.

Maybe take a break and go chill for a few months and start prepping early for SX 16'.

From the picture of him looking at his bike and this latest post it almost sounds like he was saying that he's done. Hope not.

who knows, you will never see Reed make a non-cryptic statement on Instagram or anywhere else for that matter, we will find out when he doesnt turn up or enter a race.

Is Chad tarnishing his legacy here?

I've been a huge Reed fan over the years and always rooted for him, but this year his cryptic updates, the hissy fit with the camera stuff, I dunno, its getting a bit long in the tooth esp when he's not backing it up with the results we're used to from him. If this is his last year Outdoors it doesnt feel like much of a send off!

Yet here we are, still talking about him. Exactly what he wants. The guy hasn't even had TV time in the first 5 rounds and he's still one of the most talked about racers out there.

I was wondering what happened to him. He was running 12-14th and was all the sudden done for the day.

Hm, how about Suzuki, Yamaha(that was Brooks not Yami)..... And hey, the anti-Reed crowd said he burned The Kawi bridge in 2010. And who here knows the details of his relationship with Honda?

The Reed bashing is loaded with bullshit.

Most sensible post yet. In the thick of 2016 negotiations right now... I would venture to say, he has lost either the title sponsor, or the bike sponsor fell through. Hard to be the owner and the top tier racer. His on track performance im betting, is directly related to the off track management of keeping the sponsorships committed. I dont know anyone alive who could seperate the stress of losing what is likely well over 1mil of personal investment, and racing nationals week in week out.

Give the guy credit where credit is due. He has done what few can do, without racing. He has done it while racing. Personally, i would like to see him step back, hand the reigns over to another racer amd focus on building his program for the long haul.

I love Reed and Honda. That ain't happening no way, no how on Both sides of the fence.
I'd love to see Reed push on with his team and be successful. Anything is possible. I do however see the sun setting on his pro SX/MX career. If he can contest another SX year and keep it top 5 like this year, that would be great.

He was pushed from Yamaha (L&M) in 2008 to make way for Stewart; was pushed from Suzuki in 2009 as a result of Dungey and the GFC; didn't have much good to say about the Kawi in 2010 but they've since brought out a revised bike and he's back there now. Given his relatively recent move away from Honda they are the most unlikely for him to move to. I haven't read or heard anything about why KTM is not an option other than Reed didn't seem impressed by the bike when he tested it.

I don't think there is any brand that he couldn't potentially go to, assuming the circumstances were right i.e. other contracted riders, sponsors, pre-existing support to other satellite teams.

That seems like it might be tough option, and maybe one that Reed isn't prepared to do.

I have the strong impression that if he's going to run a team that he wants it to be a genuine front runner. For that you need a top tier rider, of which there aren't many, and they aren't cheap. Despite the drawbacks you've mentioned above, one advantage of his current setup is that he basically gets a top guy for free (himself). And yes, I acknowledge that his results in the past 18 months haven't been up to his usual standards.

Without a major sponsor on-board buying a Tomac, or Dungey or the like will be an expensive exercise.

the economy is NOT getting better, regardles of what CNBC tells us

Discount tire most likely is realizing they arent getting much of an ROI on their sponsoring his team since MX is a small sport and they pulled the plug

Someone finally told him his age?
Age? Dowdy is like 80 years old and could still beat Reed at Southwick.

In my opinion it doesn't matter.

Who wants to spend 20K+ to be competitive on a fooper anyway? While you are thinking about it, don't forget to take into consideration how many electrical issues and engine failures we have seen already this year on the 4 strokes. Where would Jimmy D be in the Canadian points race right now if he was on a YZ250 2-stroke? Most likely, IN THE POINTS LEAD!

Ask yourself this:

If you were a privateer and plan to contest the entire series, would you rather:

1. Spend 4 times as much and quadruple your chance of mechanical failures by racing a four stroke in hopes that a factory might actually pick you up for next season?

Ooorrrrr.....

2. Spend 1/4 of that money and practically guarantee to eliminate mechanicals and DNF's in the series while racing a BOX STOCK 2-stroke? (while of course pulling more hole-shots)

Seems like a no-brainer to me....
