Maybe take a break and go chill for a few months and start prepping early for SX 16'.
I've been a huge Reed fan over the years and always rooted for him, but this year his cryptic updates, the hissy fit with the camera stuff, I dunno, its getting a bit long in the tooth esp when he's not backing it up with the results we're used to from him. If this is his last year Outdoors it doesnt feel like much of a send off!
I haven't even seen that brand name in print in years. Of course, with your Monarch avatar...
The Reed bashing is loaded with bullshit.
Pit Row

Give the guy credit where credit is due. He has done what few can do, without racing. He has done it while racing. Personally, i would like to see him step back, hand the reigns over to another racer amd focus on building his program for the long haul.
I'd love to see Reed push on with his team and be successful. Anything is possible. I do however see the sun setting on his pro SX/MX career. If he can contest another SX year and keep it top 5 like this year, that would be great.
I don't think there is any brand that he couldn't potentially go to, assuming the circumstances were right i.e. other contracted riders, sponsors, pre-existing support to other satellite teams.
I have the strong impression that if he's going to run a team that he wants it to be a genuine front runner. For that you need a top tier rider, of which there aren't many, and they aren't cheap. Despite the drawbacks you've mentioned above, one advantage of his current setup is that he basically gets a top guy for free (himself). And yes, I acknowledge that his results in the past 18 months haven't been up to his usual standards.
Without a major sponsor on-board buying a Tomac, or Dungey or the like will be an expensive exercise.
Discount tire most likely is realizing they arent getting much of an ROI on their sponsoring his team since MX is a small sport and they pulled the plug
i knew he was calling his career when he pulled off in moto 1.
Im curious though, I know Steinke is an accomplished AX rider havent heard of his outdoor prowess, but to anyone that knows this answer to my question WITHOUT a fan/friend bias do any of you tink he couldve done any better on a $20,000 250f?
27-27 on a YZ125 is DAM IMPRESSIVE!!!!!!
Who wants to spend 20K+ to be competitive on a fooper anyway? While you are thinking about it, don't forget to take into consideration how many electrical issues and engine failures we have seen already this year on the 4 strokes. Where would Jimmy D be in the Canadian points race right now if he was on a YZ250 2-stroke? Most likely, IN THE POINTS LEAD!
Ask yourself this:
If you were a privateer and plan to contest the entire series, would you rather:
1. Spend 4 times as much and quadruple your chance of mechanical failures by racing a four stroke in hopes that a factory might actually pick you up for next season?
Ooorrrrr.....
2. Spend 1/4 of that money and practically guarantee to eliminate mechanicals and DNF's in the series while racing a BOX STOCK 2-stroke? (while of course pulling more hole-shots)
Seems like a no-brainer to me....
