This is great...
Nice line of questions and insight by Jimmy.
Good work guys.

Gotta admire Kenny's self belief.

I like Top Jimmy, he asks the questions we all want to know with NFG. Kenny just tells it like it is in his interviews instead of just reading a long list of sponsors like Blake Baggett does. Georgia does well also with interviews.

Great answers from Kenny but I'm undecided on Jimmys interview style where he has 1 minute of commentary and answering the question for the rider before he asks it.

Then again, maybe Jimmy answering the question before he asks it got Kenny to open up and clarify.

And Jimmy is being REALLY candid and hes going to have people butthurt in the industry. Anybody listen to this weeks Muddycreek podcast? He kind of lays waste to Twitch and Chad Reed in different points.

Jimmy talks way too much - I found it quite painful. A good interviewer should be able to ask the right questions at the right time and flow with the conversation... Its like before the interview, he had already figured out what the answers were going to be.

I think Kenny just speaks out the obvious about Aldon and he is not afraid to express what he doesn't agree with or what he is struggling with in general. Why not? You can be honest without snubbing sponsors or industry guys or whoever is involved and important in the daily rat race for the money. He's the same guy he always was and I can't notice more wisdom in his interviews actually. Just find it interesting how people form their opinion about him. Sometimes he is the euro-whining excuse maker and at another time there's appreciation for straight up giving answers. But people just hear what they want to hear right? Whatever...I just hope he can find his groove again pretty soon. The Championship, forget about it.

Yeah he should be way more polished 4 rounds into the series and his first real interview on a brand new gig.

I agree with Kenny 100%. I was a distance runner and coach for about 15 years, and I have always suspected Aldon overtrained his athletes. Overtraining is easy to do and it can be hard to resist because you see results and get caught in the "if this much is good, 10 times more must be 10 times better" trap which I have had happen to me when I first started running competitively. Kenny is also correct about nutrition, those guys need to eat a LOT, it has to be the right things, not junk, but when you train like that you have to fuel the engine. When you start with a rider who is sort of "pudgy" like RC or RV they probably need that extreme program to stay down at their fighting weight, but someone who is naturally more slim it is very easy to over train.

That said, Aldon's program can and obviously has worked for many riders, but training is not some special secret only he knows, and his program will not necessarily work for everyone.

He made Aldon's camp sound like a cult. (IMO).

Please remember before he joined Aldon’s program Roczen’s fitness was an issue, a serious issue. Under Aldon’s program he immediately won 450 SX races and a 450 outdoor championship. Now he knows everything and doesn’t want to do Aldon’s strict work hard program. He wants to have fun. That’s fine, but burning the bridge doesn’t seem like a smart idea.

This isn’t going to hurt Aldon in the least. The success of his program speaks for itself, both historically with RC, Stewart, and Villapotto to today with Dungey & Anderson.

Since when did Jimmy become a fitness and winning expert?

I think the problem with Aldon's program is that the guys he takes on typically don't have a strong enough fitness base. Sure he takes them up a notch, but it doesn't allow for sustainability. Same thing happened to Stanton, and shortened his career by several years, as he has admitted.

I thought it was a straight up interview, and as honest as we are going to get. However lets wait and see what happens in the next couple of year and we can re-visit this thread. I am a fan of Kenny, but I don't think going away from Aldon was the right thing to do. Doing the necessary things to win isn't always fun, and most champions don't prioritize fun over winning and not doing the work necessary to win. Ward, O'Mara, Stanton, Hannah, Johnson, Barnett, Bailey, all put the work in and never talked about having fun. All they talked about was winning. RC, from what some people have said on here, might have a somewhat cool relationship with Aldon now, but when they were together and on the same page he was untouchable. RV may not have liked the work, but he loved the results and the financial reward that came with it.

Hey there is more than one way to skin a cat, but we admire those guys, those winners, that consistently put the hammer down. And to do that you have to be in better shape than the next guy. To me, RV had that extra 3% with Aldon that he needed to beat Dungey and everyone else. Kenny gave that to Dungey. Some guys will win on talent alone but in the long run, guys like Stanton will win over time more often b/c of his work. His career was not as long as Windham's but we don't talk about Stanton getting burnt out. He said that once he felt like he lost the desire to train and be totally ready, he packed it in. I sure like Stanton's career in terms of winning more than Windham's and this is not a slight on Windham.

The question for many on here is-would you rather have shorter and much more successful career, or a longer and less successful career? To me, with the risks in this sport, win as much as you can while you can, make your bank, and try to walk away more or less in tact. Get every win bonus that you can, every championship bonus that you can, and every other source of sponsorship while you can.

I cant imagine AB not doing bloods on his athletes?

Or are bloods relative to the equipment being used or something? Seems weird that KR would get bloods from RedBull and AB was not monitoring them.

Probably explains why RV put on a little weight this year.
Just Iike other relationships, the trainer and athlete relationship is complex. Some work better than others.

I don't know what's worse: Crossfit, or Aldon?

Yeah thats the part that blew my mind actually. The amount they pay the guy you would almost think they get them bi-weekly or something. I think I remember AC saying they get it once or twice a year. But that's weak, AC's iron level was super low and sounds like Kenny's RBC count was low, they should of been on that shit.. Red meat would of helped on both accounts , but no red med for Aldon's crew

Agreed,

There's no way Aldon wasn't having blood work done, in addition to regular blood counts, test, estradiol, thyroid, all of it, every time

What I took away from that is that as long as Roczen doesn't intend to have any children in the future, everything is going to be fine...
