KTM produces 100,000k motorcycles worldwide if memory serves.
"Globally, Honda sold 17.9 million motorcycles in 2010, compared to 15 million in 2009. In North America, 192,000 bikes were sold in 2010, compared to 210,000 in 2009."
Ktm sells around 3000 ktm 300 xc's in the USA each year.
Ktm is doing a great job and will continue to gain market share, but if you think honda cares about the two stroke market in the USA, you are mistaken.
How about a new old 4 banger, some good deals to be had.

That being said, I would love to have a left over 2013 KX450, so I am not a militant 2 stroke guy... motocross is motocross, I just love riding no matter the bike!!!!
They are probably the same guys that want to make good, fast four-strokes, held back by idiots who want to put two pipes on them.
The "racing spirit" still exists at Honda but has been in decline for a long time.
That's very telling to me.
Anyways, Honda isn't bringing back the 2 stroke unless things change greatly over the next few years.
And it is hot and ready.
Though I have to admit, on some posts my eyes can not roll big enough when I read them.
I'm sure KTM has increased their total production numbers but I imagine the ratio is roughly the same. So yes, I have no doubt it's hard to find a 2-stroke on the showroom floor. Yamaha pulls this same trick year after year and people point fingers and say look, dealers can't keep those things on the floor!
I'm not saying the 2-stroke isn't good, we've been down that road. But production 54,000 2-strokes would not result in 54,000 sales in my opinion. KTM knows their market, they've done the research and know what people will buy and in what volume. Most companies have departments that are paid for this kind of shit.
Pit Row
Yeah but do you really think those office jockeys know more than the collective knowledge here at Vital? Not a chance dude.
As for the Kart-Kits...guess where the 125AF motors are sourced? BTW, really good engine-builders seem to think its a Great 125 motor...still. Isn't there still some Mugen stuff avail for it?
Honda (like Suzuki and Kawasaki!!!) do not give a damn whether anyone likes them not producing them or not, they care about motorbike sales. As long as they sell the four strokes then they will be happy.
Even though Honda may not be the top bike for experts and pros due to the slightly softer power delivery, they produce and sell more of them than any other manufacturer, so why would they change direction?
All power (excuse the pun) to KTM, they are making a dent on all manufacturers sales, unelss Honda (and Suzuki and Kawasaki) start losing mega sales to KTM two strokes then nothing will likely change.
Tweeked a little bit and it smokes all the KTM's and Yamaha's and especially the CRF 150 although you only ever see one or two CRF 150 four strokes at the youth races this year.
Come on Honda. This is the only Honda we see at the start gate this year unless some unfortunate does show up on a CRF to get smoked. You see, If the kids are starting on KTM, Yamaha and now more TM's than CRF's then there's a good chance they will stay with that brand as they progress through the bike sizes
Sadly after over 30 years of owning at least 18 different Honda MX Bikes between myself and my two sons, this will be the last Honda for us. Next year I am switching and buying 2 Brand New TM 144 MX's.
